New UFO files describe black triangles over secret US military bases

The seventh batch of declassified UAP records describes silent, featureless triangles moving at 1,800 miles per hour, but I still want more than reports and sketches

The White House has shared the seventh batch of declassified unidentified anomalous phenomena records, and the headline item is a report of black triangles moving through the air at 1,800 miles per hour over secret US military bases. Are we getting closer to real UFO evidence? I don't know. I think this official account of the black triangle is a big story in itself, but I'm frustrated that it's still a report and not a picture.

The seventh batch of UAP files includes a black triangle that covered 1.5 miles in under 3 seconds

Among the newly released records is a report of a triangular craft that covered 1.5 miles in under 3 seconds with no exhaust or visible propulsion. Witnesses at a national security site described its uniform heat signature and its lack of structural features. Government memos note that it doesn't match known US technology.

The batch goes beyond the triangles. A 2010 report from a ranch in Utah detailed a bipedal doglike creature, light orbs and mysterious tracks, with hair samples testing as canine and raccoon. More files are going to be released on a rolling basis.

According to the Pentagon and the new government files, the triangles were spotted at least three different times. Agents say they were working at a surveillance station in an undisclosed mountain range when they saw the black triangle coming over the horizon.

The FBI account describes a silent craft with no engine heat and a seamless surface

The agents told the FBI they estimated the object's wingspan at approximately 9 to 15 feet, its depth at 6 to 9 feet and its thickness at 1 to 2 feet. According to the report, the triangles made no sound, had no exhaust and showed a consistent heat signal when scanned by a thermal device. That means the object didn't register hotter anywhere, as it would if there were an engine.

The memo describes the exterior as a "seamless featureless surface lacking any discernable structural discontinuities, propulsive apertures, intake structures," along with no aerodynamic control features or cockpit features. Government officials say the objects were not American technology.

The latest file dump also included sketches of what the witnesses saw. To be clear, a sketch isn't a photo. But this sketch comes from the report itself, not from someone who heard about the report secondhand. It looks like the witnesses were asked what they saw, it was sketched up, and this is the result.

The optimistic side: official confirmation of the black triangles

I've wanted to make sure I cover both the things that are good and the things that drive me nuts, the skeptical and pessimistic side, if you will. So let's start with the optimistic side.

The black triangle UFO has been talked about many times outside of these files, by people who have seen them and through reports of them. You can go through many different reports and events, whether military, government or civilian. The triangles have been a thing, and I've covered them a few different times.

So the fact that we're getting an official report that they were seen over secret US military bases, with the Pentagon releasing it, is significant. I think it confirms and validates many of those other reports. It's not just orbs or little blips. It's an actual triangle outside a military base. I think that official confirmation is a big story all by itself, and one of the optimistic things about what they're starting to release. The question of whether it was something solid and whether people got a good look at it seems answered here: clearly, it seems they did.

The pessimistic side: it's still a report, not a picture

The pessimistic side is that this is the same type of release as the earlier ones, and I know there's more to come in this seventh tranche. David Grusch talked on Rogan about how people were frustrated by what's coming out, and this is still a report. It's not a picture.

If you dig into it and look at the optimistic side, the fact that they're bringing merit to the black triangles people have talked about is, in itself, an "oh wow they're talking about this" moment. The problem, and I know this is broken record stuff, is that this isn't the kind of thing that will get the mass coverage needed to get more people engaged.

I was on a podcast talking about something completely different, and the person hosting it asked me about my UAP coverage. He wasn't a complete skeptic who thinks it's ridiculous. He's curious but doesn't follow the topic, and he didn't even know I covered it until it popped up when he looked me up. What I want is for people to know about this topic in general. I want someone to bring it up and say they saw on the news that black triangles were flying around a military base, that the government said it wasn't our technology, that reporters are trying to figure out what it is and how it moved at over 1,800 miles an hour. But you won't see that, because it's reports, regardless of how fascinating it is. And it is fascinating.

Why I don't expect the rest of tranche seven to be groundbreaking

I don't put much hope in the next few drops in tranche seven being groundbreaking. If you're going to release something groundbreaking, you do it on the first drop. You don't open with a report of the black triangle and then save an alien going to the deli for the fifth one.

This material is for those of us who pay attention to UFO and UAP news. It gives us more information, checks off more reports of things we've heard about before, and leaves us with more questions about what these objects are. Beyond confirming a flyby past the bases, what else do they know? There are more reports in there, and that's where I get frustrated.

What do these releases ultimately do?

It seems to me there's clearly either a narrative or a certain amount of information that they agreed they could release. Maybe not this particular file, because I think this one could lead to more, but across the six tranches that came before, I don't know what it ultimately accomplishes.

Does it just shine a light and say they're more open than the previous administration was? They released a lot, many people are paying attention, but it doesn't do much. Maybe that's what it is: this is all they have, and they're showing everything they've got. I think someone even said at one point that what you've seen is the good stuff. If you're running the UAP task force and that's the good stuff, you've got problems, because at this point it's all reports and sketches.

I believe the triangles can do things that are not of this world, but there's no definitive proof yet

I don't know what to make of this. I want to see what happens with the rest of this tranche. But I'll say what I always say. I don't believe that's another government's technology, and I don't believe it's US technology. I believe these triangles were flying around at this speed, and I believe they can do things that are not of this world. I believe much of what has been talked about is true. Maybe not everything, but a lot of it.

I just don't have anything definitive to say yet to people who say they don't think it's true. I can't tell them to look at something and know immediately. I don't know how you look at all that research and all those accounts and still doubt it, but that's their prerogative. Mick West thinks it's a balloon. I think that's ridiculous, but there's no definitive proof.

So I wonder if definitive proof will come. David Grusch seemed so convinced that by the end of this administration's term we're going to get full disclosure, and he talked about it like it was going to happen. Is this the slow series of steps to get there? Maybe. Maybe we'll look back and realize this is what they were starting to do. Or maybe it's what I described above, and they put this material out so they can say they did it when nobody else did. I don't know.
