Donald Pleasence Supposedly Drank Two Bottles of Wine Before a Halloween Scene
John Carpenter feared it would affect the Dr. Loomis performance, but he said the actor just got better
Donald Pleasence supposedly drank two bottles of wine before shooting the Halloween scene where Michael jumps on top of the car. John Carpenter was scared this would affect his performance as Dr. Loomis, but he said Pleasence just got better and was perfect in the role.
Dr. Loomis is absolutely unhinged. I've been playing with him in the new Halloween game, and he's one of my favorite characters in any Halloween movie ever.
Some people said Carpenter should have just incorporated drinking into the character for the other Halloween movies, because there were rumors that Pleasence drank sometimes on set. But this did not affect his performances at all. He came to work, he showed up, and he put on a generational performance as Dr. Loomis, which I still love to this day.
