Halloween's Myers house was found basically abandoned before filming
The cast and crew fixed up the house after shooting the Halloween night scenes, and Donald Pleasence pitched in too
Something you may not know about Halloween is that the Myers house was actually found basically abandoned. The opening scene in the house was filmed after all of the scenes with Laurie and Dr. Loomis on Halloween night.
Since the place was abandoned, they decided to film everything that happened on that fateful night first. Then, because they wanted to use the same exact house, all of the actors and crew helped furnish it and fix the wallpaper. They made it look like a nice, sturdy house, the way it used to be when Michael Myers lived there as a little kid.
Even Donald Pleasence helped in between takes and moved things on set. This was a smaller production than he was used to, but he was one of my favorite parts of the entire film.
