M. Bison in Street Fighter relies on his smarts more than his strength
Why Bison stands out as a villain in the 2026 film, even for someone who never played the games
Bison is a very interesting villain in Street Fighter. I didn't play the games, I just saw the movie, and he was a very fascinating villain to me. Spoilers ahead if you haven't seen it yet.
Bison's main goal is stealing Ryu's powers
One of his goals in the 2026 film is global domination, but his main goal is to steal Ryu's powers. He uses the World Warrior Tournament as bait to lure Ryu out of hiding. With the help of Chun-Li, who is trying to seek vengeance on Bison herself for killing her father, Bison is able to trap Ryu. That happens pretty early on in the movie.
Bison has a full prison in this movie and even has a massive fight between Ryu and Blanka, but he is unsuccessful at harvesting Ryu's power.
Bison is calculated rather than extremely strong
Bison is not someone who is extremely strong like you may think he is. He is more calculated and uses his smarts. That helps him in the end, when he is able to capture one of the most powerful spirits from the spiritual realm.
