Craziest Battlefield weapons: why the F2000 ranks number one
A countdown of the guns, revolvers and one giant walker that stood out across the Battlefield series, from Bad Company 2 to Battlefield 1
Across the Battlefield series, which was nearly 16 years old when I put this list together, players have had countless weapons to choose from. You may have your own favorites in mind, but some rose above the rest. These are my top 10 craziest Battlefield weapons of all time, and my number one is the F2000 from Battlefield: Bad Company 2.
The list runs from Battlefield 2142 through Battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline and Battlefield 1, which was the most recent Battlefield title at the time.
10. The K10 in Battlefield Hardline was the fastest firing gun in the game
Battlefield Hardline wasn't liked by everybody in the Battlefield community, but it had some cool elements to go along with its smaller setting. After release there was a lot of talk about one gun possibly being overpowered, as there is in any shooter. Looking at the stats, I could see where people were coming from.
The K10 was a submachine gun modeled after the Vector SMG, and it was the fastest firing gun in the entire game at 1,200 rounds per minute. It had very good hipfire, although its aim down sights accuracy was poor, which is interesting because it's usually the opposite. Because of how quickly it fired, it could theoretically drop people in four bullets. Many people called it overpowered since it was far and away the best close range gun in the game, even better than most shotguns. I think it's a good way to kick off the list.
9. The Nagant Revolver in Battlefield 1 is a rare seven shot pistol
There's something about using revolvers in multiplayer shooters. I'm not sure what it is, but they seem to be fun in every game that includes them, and Battlefield 1 is no exception. The Nagant Revolver is unlocked by getting 20 kills with the Luger P08, and it's a seven shot revolver, which you don't see very often since revolvers usually carry six bullets.
The Nagant deals 40 damage at close range, dropping to 23 at distance, making it a three to four shot kill on average. That's impressive for a pistol. It can also be equipped by any class, which made it even more widely used and loved in Battlefield 1. There's another revolver from Battlefield 1 further up this list, too.
8. Battlefield 2142, pretty much Titanfall before Titanfall, gave players a two legged walker
Battlefield 2142 was pretty much Titanfall before Titanfall was even thought of. It released in 2006 for PC and Mac, and it was the first and only Battlefield game to go far into the future, with futuristic weapons and vehicles. One of those vehicles was a monstrosity of a walker on two legs, equipped with Gatling guns, missiles and very thick armor.
These walkers replaced tanks in that game's world. They weren't quick, but they were awesome to control, and they ripped up the opposition. I would love another futuristic Battlefield game. I know the science fiction shooter market may be a little oversaturated, but I would love to see what DICE could do with a follow up to Battlefield 2142. It's been a long time, and it could be a fresh take for the series.
7. The SRR-61 in Battlefield 4 could one shot headshot at virtually any range
The SRR-61 was widely considered the best sniper in Battlefield 4. It was the go-to gun for players who wanted the range advantage over every enemy. The bullet drop was tricky to get down to a science, but once you did, the SRR-61 was close to unstoppable, because it was capable of a one shot headshot kill at virtually any range.
It was designed for traditional sniping, with a fire rate of only 40 rounds per minute, and it didn't come with much ammunition either. But the time you had with this gun before needing to restock was excellent.
6. The M16A3 dominated the Battlefield Hardline beta before its nerf
A few guns in Hardline caused issues with the community. While the K10 was considered overpowered at close range, the M16A3 was considered overpowered pretty much everywhere else. It was an assault rifle used with the Operator class, and it had an intimidating fire rate of 800 rounds per minute with very high damage. That made it easy to spam and get quick kills, which made a lot of players mad.
The developers saw the problem quickly and were able to nerf the M16 for the full release, so it couldn't do the same damage once the game came out. That's why you do a beta, and it was a very good catch. If you played during the beta, though, this thing dominated, and even after it was nerfed it was still one of the main guns used online.
5. The Kolibri is the weakest weapon in Battlefield 1 and still a blast
I know the Kolibri is close to worthless, but it's very fun. It's the smallest and weakest weapon in Battlefield 1, maybe the smallest and weakest weapon in any shooter, and it recreates what was the smallest firearm ever created at the time of World War I.
It does a maximum of 25 damage, dropping all the way to one damage at distance, which makes it theoretically a 100 shot kill at the end of its range. At extremely close range it can drop people in about four shots, so don't let the size fool you. It's more of a novelty item than an effective weapon, but because of how popular and recognizable it became after Battlefield 1 released, I think the Kolibri earned its spot.
4. The SMG 08/18 in Battlefield 1 is an SMG and LMG hybrid with 80 rounds
This submachine gun is an SMG and LMG hybrid, with an 80 bullet magazine and a fire rate of about 450 rounds per minute. Its damage isn't very impressive: it maxes out at 23, drops to a minimum of 13.5, and has a 1.25 first shot multiplier. It's an experimental German gun based on the MG, and it came to Battlefield 1 with an expansion.
It may not have the strongest damage output, but running around with an 80 shot SMG and spraying down enemy after enemy is an awesome feeling. For people who aren't a very good shot, like me, the more bullets you have, the safer you feel.
3. The ACE 23 was called the best gun in Battlefield 4 for a time
The ACE 23 is probably the coolest name on this list, if you ask me. Many regarded this rifle as the best gun in Battlefield 4 for a time, and there's good reasoning behind that. It had an automatic fire rate of 770 rounds per minute, could do up to 24.5 damage per bullet, and had a velocity of 620 meters per second. Add a first shot multiplier of 2.25, and it could drop people extremely quickly.
When Battlefield 4 was in its prime, the ACE 23 was widely considered the most versatile gun in the game, and many called it the best overall because of how effective it was everywhere. There didn't seem to be a single situation in the game that this gun was not prepared for, and it earns its place in my top three.
2. The No. 3 Revolver is Battlefield 1's two shot close range monster
This is the second Battlefield 1 revolver I promised, and it's an absolute monster. You get it after reaching rank 10 with the Assault class, and it's modeled after the Smith & Wesson Model 3 revolver seen in a lot of Wild West movies.
The No. 3 Revolver is weak at mid and long range, but close range is another story. It deals 53 damage, making it a two shot kill. It may not be the most effective beyond close range, and it's not a go-to gun in Battlefield 1, but there's something about whipping out this revolver and two shotting someone straight out of the gate. That's what got it this spot.
1. The F2000 in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was considered by many the best all round gun
Bad Company 2 is considered by many to be the best Battlefield game ever made, with tons of destructible environments and awesome weaponry. Many people thought the F2000 was the best all round gun in the game, and for good reason.
The F2000 was an assault rifle with the highest rate of fire of all the guns in the assault kit, so it doubled as a very effective SMG. It didn't have the best range, but it was still solid with a good scope, a grenade launcher or magnum ammunition. It was a fan favorite rifle that many thought to be the best all around gun in the game.
