WandaVision episode 3 review: is Wanda the real villain?
A Brady Bunch style episode, a rushed pregnancy and a mention of Ultron that pushes Geraldine out of Wanda's reality
We loved the first two episodes of WandaVision, and we're enjoying all the episodes so far. It's early to say we love the show, but we love the show. WandaVision (2021), starring Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany and Teyonah Parris, moved into color for its third episode, and its sitcom charm came with small pockets of horror and suspense.
WandaVision moves into a Brady Bunch inspired era
After the black and white shows, this is a very Brady Bunch inspired episode in Technicolor. The opening uses a honeycomb style outline again. Counting its sides shows six, so it's a hexagon, and there was curiosity in the discussion about what it means. The subtle changes to the sitcom look, and the baby clothes, drew a reaction of "they're so cute in color."
The pregnancy runs on fast forward. Wanda goes from pregnant to having kids in what feels like days, which is hilarious. The twins also drew a comment in the discussion: "it would make sense that she would want twins."
Geraldine, Monica Rambeau and the Ultron line
The episode gives a more proper introduction to Geraldine. We know the actress is playing Monica Rambeau, so the guess is that Geraldine is her identity inside this reality for now. When Geraldine reminds Wanda that her twin brother was killed by Ultron, Wanda's happy life, with the kids, the white picket fence and the friendly community, starts getting torn apart. That reality sets back in, and Wanda forces Geraldine out. It looked painful.
When Wanda glitched earlier in the episode, the reaction was "this hits so hard because i know what happens to her in the comics." The sword necklace stood out too, along with a guess that Geraldine might be a SHIELD agent who went in to gather information. Outside, there was a feeling in the discussion that she's one of the military's own, but it felt like they were approaching her cautiously, which left the question of whether they know who she is.
Wanda as the possible antagonist
Part of the excitement after this episode was the prospect of Wanda as the true antagonist. She has created this reality, people are trapped in it, and it's causing damage, but she doesn't want to leave her happy life. Even though it's fake, the feeling is that she's saying she has Vision and her babies, and after losing her brother she won't let anything else be taken from her. The more glitches appear in the neighborhood, the more it may drive Wanda crazy, because she wants to keep everything intact.
There's real eagerness to see the consequences. Wanda losing her grip on reality is such a huge event in the Marvel comics. In the discussion, though, there was an admission of not being as well versed in those comics, and of not knowing whether the show is going off on its own tangents.
The fake commercials feature Stark and Hydra products
Another detail we like is the fake commercials. The first ad was a Stark product, a watch ad followed, and this episode's ad was for Hydra Soak. We're enjoying every episode so far, and three episodes in, we love the show.

More on Disney+ →Agatha All Along delivered a consistent, well budgeted, entertaining Halloween show carried by Kathryn Hahn, with Joe Locke also good, and an ending I found very interesting. I still think it gets a sequel, though probably as a differently named spinoff like Young Avengers rather than a true season two.
The potions trial built around Jennifer Kale ended with a death, and the hints about Agatha's son kept piling up.

My theory is that lingering Infinity Stone radiation, mostly gamma but not entirely, ties together WandaVision's Westview anomaly, Monica's possible Spectrum powers, missing astronauts hinting at the Fantastic Four, mutants, and recurring cancer cases across the MCU.
WandaVision theory: did Infinity Stone radiation create Westview? →
I theorized Wanda was a mutant whose X-gene the Mind Stone unlocked, that Mephisto likely took her children, and that Agatha Harkness and Doctor Strange would help her learn Darkhold magic. I believed losing her kids would push her over the edge into becoming the true, omega-level Scarlet Witch.
