De Dana Dan reaction: a cheap boss and a kidnapped dog

We started De Dana Dan (2009), starring Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif and Suniel Shetty, and part one left us on the side of the broke heroes and against the rich woman who runs their lives.

Kuljeet Kaur seems cheap, not trusting

Nitin Bankar inherits his late father's job as servant and driver for Kuljeet Kaur, a wealthy woman with shops in Singapore that she rents out. He's still paying off a big loan from her. When he says madam trusts only him, so he does all the housework, we didn't buy it. To us it's like she's cheap, not that she trusts him. It sounds like she didn't want to pay a maid, a gardener or a chef. Our verdict at that point: "This is not fair."

Her dog is Moolchand ji. When Nitin finally tries to quit, the dog keeps ruining his work, and with how much the dog hates him we thought she should just fire him. Instead she refuses a Diwali bonus for her staff because Diwali is an Indian festival and this is Singapore. That one "sounds on brand." When she hinted at a Diwali present, our guess was a shirt for her dog. We also thought Nitin's outfit looks so bad.

The Chadda wedding scheme

Nitin's friend Ram Mishra came from India for Chinese film work and didn't get any. Both men have girlfriends who spend on them. Chadda, buried in bounced cheques, wants dowry money by marrying off his son Noni, an engineer, which we called one of the acceptable jobs. Watching the deal come together, we wondered why the money couldn't just go to Akshay Kumar instead. Once the man chasing the bounced cheques shows up, it turns into a game.

Chadda's second wife comes along in his place, with the explanation that he's busy with work, and our reaction was "she is gorgeous." On the horoscope matching, we figured all anyone needs is the right birthday, and then boom, you're in. A casino item number distracted us, and Chadda earned the line "what a snake" for taking dowry from one family while fixing the wedding elsewhere.

Kidnapping Moolchand ji

With everyone having a hard time, the friends land on kidnapping the dog Kuljeet loves more than her own life, hoping she'll pay crores. The dog is so cute that our take was clear: "The dog's not the problem, she's the problem." Part one closes with Nitin calling Anjali to the Pan Pacific Hotel, telling her all their problems are over.
