Alien X Beats Infinity Ultron and It Isn't Close, According to This Breakdown

Comparing the What If...? villain's universe-shattering feats against Ben 10's reality-bending Celestialsapien shows a clear gap in power.

Infinity Ultron and Alien X are both described as gods among men, but in a straight fight between the two, the gap in power is not close. Alien X wins, and the reasoning comes down to what each being has actually shown it can do.

In the What If...? universe, it is a good thing the Avengers beat Ultron in the main timeline, because things go badly once he wins there. He taps into the nuclear codes, unleashes a nuclear winter, and leaves Hawkeye and Black Widow as the only two humans left on Earth. Minutes later Thanos shows up looking for the last Infinity Stone, and Ultron kills him instantly and takes all six stones for himself, which is not a great look for Thanos or for Vision, who arguably could have done the same thing first. Ultron then wipes out all life across the universe, leaving nothing but silence across the cosmos.

Infinity Ultron's power is hard to measure because he often seems to be holding back

There is really no telling how powerful Ultron truly is, because it sometimes seems like he is purposely holding back, "toying with his prey, like a cat playing with a mouse." That approach does not work out well for him in the end. Even so, he overpowers Captain Marvel while fighting in the middle of a planet and beats up on Thor, taking his attacks without any problem.

Although Ultron fights against Captain Carter, Killmonger, and Black Widow at points, he is never really fighting those characters directly. He is really fighting Strange Supreme, one of the most powerful versions of Doctor Strange ever shown, a Strange who can swallow galaxy-destroying attacks whole. Strange is essentially fighting through everybody else, using them as proxies, so Ultron losing to Black Widow and an arrow should not be read as Ultron losing to Black Widow at all. He was really losing to Strange Supreme.

Ultron's own feats are still massive. He can destroy Asgard in a single blast, destroy planets, and destroy a whole solar system with an energy wave. That galaxy-ending attack Strange Supreme swallows is actually one Ultron sent out, and at another point Ultron grows to the size of a galaxy and eats it. He also fights the Watcher, a fifth-dimensional being existing outside the planes of space-time and the multiverse, with their battle launching them through universe after universe and shattering the fabric of time, space, and reality with every punch. With the six Infinity Stones, Ultron can control time, space, reality, power, mind, and soul.

Ultron has real losses too, and there is clearly a limit to his power

Against those feats, there are knocks against Ultron. He loses in a fight against Strange Supreme's proxies of Black Widow, Thor, Star-Lord T'Challa, Killmonger, Captain Carter, and Gamora, even though Strange Supreme is empowering all of them. He also gets taken out by an arrow and by a 1940s AI, so he can clearly be beaten. He gives the Watcher a great fight, but a purified version of Infinity Ultron is also beaten by several Watchers, which shows there is a limit to what he can do.

Ben 10's Omnitrix turned an ordinary kid into a hero with over 70 alien forms

Ben Tennyson starts out as a rather unremarkable kid heading into what could have been the most boring summer road trip ever with his grandfather and a cousin he barely gets along with. Then one of the most powerful devices in the universe crashes into Earth and physically bonds with him, giving him the ability to transform into ten different alien forms. His summer turns into fighting petty criminals, being chased by an intergalactic criminal warlord, and eventually saving the universe, and that is only the start of adventures that span years into his time as a teenager, making allies of his family and even his former enemy Kevin 11.

Ben's powers come from the Omnitrix, created by the most intelligent mind in the universe as a tool for peace meant to let species walk a mile in another's shoes. It gets twisted into a tool of destruction and a weapon of war before it crashes on Earth, where Ben uses it to become a hero instead. The Omnitrix lets Ben instantly transform into any alien and gain all of that alien's powers and abilities. What starts as just ten aliens grows to over 70 that Ben has access to, and in canon he technically has access to over a million, even though only about 70 have actually been seen.

Once Ben masters control over the Omnitrix, he can switch into any alien he wants at any time with no time limit to abide by. The Omnitrix is powerful enough that if Ben is ever in life-threatening danger, it will automatically transform him into whichever alien would let him survive that attack. Out of all these forms, the focus here is on his most powerful one, Alien X.

Alien X is a reality-bending Celestialsapien repeatedly called the most powerful being in Ben 10

Alien X is the Omnitrix's DNA sample of a Celestialsapien, a species of powerful reality benders normally limited because the two consciousnesses living inside the alien have to agree before doing anything. That limitation originally holds Ben back, but he has since been given full control over Alien X, so it is no longer really an issue. Alien X is easily a universal being, able to effortlessly destroy and recreate entire universes at will, and it has repeatedly been said to be the most powerful being in the entire Ben 10 universe, capable of doing literally anything and everything. It is not technically omnipotent, omniscient, or omnipresent, since Ben's own DNA is still present in the alien, but being nearly all three is still not too shabby.

Alien X's universe-erasing power and its win over the Galactic Gladiator settle the fight

Ultron's fight with the Watcher involves punching across universes and affecting them throughout the battle, but Alien X has the power to simply wipe out universes altogether with just a thought, which is more than Ultron has shown. In canon, Alien X also scales above an item capable of destroying everything, including all of existence, all time and causality, everyone's individual history, multiple space-time continuums, a dimension of nothingness with no space-time, and mana, an energy not bound by any laws. Alien X is also no stranger to fighting beings as powerful as itself, having fought and beaten another Celestialsapien, the Galactic Gladiator.

There is an argument that Infinity Ultron could be smart enough to hack into the Omnitrix and beat Alien X by turning him back into Ben, but there is just as strong a counter that Alien X could simply remove the Infinity Stones from Ultron and turn him back into normal Ultron, since Alien X is definitely powerful enough to do it. It would make for a fun fight, but Alien X comes out on top. Alien X wins. It's not even close.

Which of Ultron's feats do you think comes closest to matching Alien X's reality-altering power?
