Gipsy Danger vs Rodan: who wins, Jaeger or Monsterverse Titan?

Gipsy Danger against Rodan is a very close fight, but in the end I think Rodan wins. Gipsy Danger is the Jaeger from Pacific Rim (2013), starring Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba and Rinko Kikuchi. It was designed for exactly this kind of fight, because it was built to battle giant monsters. Rodan is one of the Titans of the Monsterverse.

So I think the real question is how different the Pacific Rim kaiju that Gipsy Danger is used to fighting are from the Monsterverse Titans.

Gipsy Danger's weapons and kaiju kills

Gipsy Danger is a huge force. It stands about 260 feet tall and is fully equipped with plasma cannons, rocket punches and huge retractable swords that can cut through kaiju. For some reason, though, it only uses those swords at the last moment.

Gipsy killed Leatherback in a brutal fight and split Otachi in half. It even managed to bring down the first Category 5 kaiju we ever saw.

Why the Otachi fight matters against Rodan

The Otachi fight is important here, because Rodan's big advantage is flight. Rodan has an enormous wingspan and can fly fast enough to catch military fighter jets. It creates huge shockwaves just by flying over cities.

On top of that, Rodan is incredibly tough. It lives inside a volcano. It survived fighting King Ghidorah and went on to fight Mothra as well. Rodan is also very aggressive. It regularly dives straight at other Titans, trying to tear them apart with its talons and beak.

Gipsy Danger's sword could hurt Rodan up close

Once Rodan gets close, Gipsy Danger has a chance to grab it and drive one of those huge swords straight into its body. If Mothra could stab Rodan with her stinger, Gipsy should be able to slice it open with a sword too. That's why I think the fight is close.

Rodan's size and mass decide the fight

In the end, I think the problem for Gipsy Danger is the huge difference in size and mass. Rodan weighs about 20 times as much as Gipsy Danger. Rodan can also attack from almost any angle, and it has the size and strength to tear the Jaeger in half. That's a huge advantage.

Gipsy Danger has the weapons to wound Rodan. That won't matter much, though, if Rodan can finish the robot off in just a few hits. Rodan wins.
