Weapon H Tops My Ranking of 23 Weapon X Projects, From Weakest to Strongest

From the Skinless Man to Captain America, Wolverine and Man-Thing, here are 23 Weapon Plus creations ranked from weakest to strongest

DanCo (AI-assisted)11 October 2026 · Editor: Digital Fox Talent Editorial Team 2,080 words · 9 min read

Out of everyone connected to Weapon Plus and Weapon X, the strongest is Weapon H, the creation that basically combines Hulk and Wolverine into one person. I've ranked 23 of the program's subjects from weakest to strongest.

Weapon X, or really Weapon Plus, has spent the past several decades trying to create the perfect super soldier. That might have started with Captain America and Project Rebirth, but it eventually led to Wolverine, giant monsters, and even a whole group of adamantium claws.

23. The Skinless Man survived losing all of his skin

He originally had incredibly elastic, stretchy skin that Weapon Plus then enhanced even further, basically transforming him into the perfect spy. Then he was captured, had all of his skin removed, and somehow survived, picking up the name the Skinless Man. He eventually taught his exposed muscles to expand and contract the same way his skin used to, making him dangerous enough to fight and kill superhumans.

22. Marrow's bone weapons can't keep up with adamantium

Marrow can grow bones out of her body, rip them out, and use them as weapons, and even create armor around herself. When she joined up with Weapon X, the program actually helped stabilize her mutation, giving her way better control over her powers. She's dangerous, especially up close, but she's on a list with way more powerful characters. Bone knives are great until the other guy pulls out adamantium claws.

21. Nuke is superhuman but not smart enough to turn a fight around

Nuke is Weapon Seven, basically another attempt at creating a super soldier, except this one went horribly wrong. Frank Simpson was conditioned from birth, physically enhanced, given armored implants beneath his skin, and eventually became the pill popping kill machine we know as Nuke. He's legitimately superhuman: strong, tough and heavily armed. The problem is Nuke is kind of crazy and kind of stupid. When the fight starts going wrong, he isn't going to be the guy smart enough to turn it around.

20. Copycat's powers are potentially ridiculous but inconsistent

Copycat is a really hard character to rank because her powers are potentially ridiculous. Vanessa Carlyle can shapeshift right down to the cellular level, and with physical contact she's been able to copy powers and even mental imprints from other people. In the perfect situation, with just the right conditions, she could be way more dangerous than Marrow. Her problem is consistency. So I'm keeping her down here, but I think you can argue she can punch way above her weight class.

19. Native overpowered Sabretooth once but lacked Logan's edge

Native was another mutant captured by Weapon X around the same time as Wolverine. She's basically a stripped down version of Logan's powers, with an accelerated healing factor, enhanced senses, and six bone claws. She's not just some random experiment either. When Sabretooth was sent after her, Native was actually able to overpower him and escape. But she doesn't have Logan's adamantium or his experience, and ultimately Sabretooth did come back and kill her.

18. Wildchild brings years of experience from Alpha Flight

Wildchild is another feral mutant who eventually ended up in Weapon X. He's got pretty much everything you'd expect: enhanced strength, speed, agility, razor sharp claws, and a healing factor. That's pretty standard for Weapon X. What sets Kyle apart is that he has way more actual experience than others, having spent years fighting alongside groups like Alpha Flight before Weapon X ever got involved.

17. Kane's borrowed mutant powers ended up killing him

Garrison Kane is where things start getting more interesting, because Kane is basically a cyborg weapons platform. His synthetic organic arms can create weapons, plasma blasts and shields. When he joined up with Weapon X, they upgraded him so he could load mutant abilities into his cybernetics, which gives him a ton of versatility. The problem is that copied powers aren't actually all that safe for him to use, and they actually ended up killing him. So, not great there, chief.

16. Typhoid Mary doesn't need to win a fistfight

Typhoid Mary is connected to Weapon IX, Project Psyche, and her main powers are telekinesis and pyrokinesis. She doesn't necessarily need to beat someone in a fistfight; she can just burn them or get inside their head. The exact history of Project Psyche is still pretty mysterious, and Marvel really hasn't told us much beyond Mary's involvement. But as a fighter, she's still really dangerous.

15. Sauron is more dangerous than just the dinosaur guy

Sauron wasn't created by Weapon X, but he eventually became one of its subjects, and he's actually more dangerous than just the dinosaur guy. Karl Lykos can absorb life energy from other people, and absorbing mutant energy transforms him into Sauron. Once transformed, he is a dinosaur. He's superhumanly strong, he can fly, he's got claws and fangs, and he can hypnotize people through eye contact.

14. Deadpool is hard to kill but not impossible to beat

Deadpool is probably the most annoying person on this entire list to actually put down. Wade entered the Weapon X system after developing cancer and eventually came out of it with an absurd healing factor. Shoot him, stab him, blow him to bits, and he'll always come back. Add years of mercenary experience, guns, swords, explosives, and the fact that he has basically zero concern for his own safety, and he's hard to beat in a fight.

But being insanely difficult to kill isn't the same thing as being impossible to beat. If Wolverine cuts Wade apart and leaves his head on the other side of the room, Wade might eventually recover, but he still lost that fight. His healing factor gets him pretty far, but he is not unbeatable.

13. Chamber can't be stopped like a normal person

Chamber is weird because Jonothon Starsmore doesn't really have a normal body anymore. When his mutation first appeared, the energy inside of him blew off most of his chest and his face. His powers are essentially what kept him alive from then on, and he can communicate telepathically and unleash all that energy in huge blasts. Weapon X later recruited Chamber and temporarily restored his body, but either way he's a nightmare to fight, because for the most part you can't just stab him in the chest and expect him to go down like a normal person.

12. Agent Zero was built to hunt Wolverine

David North started out as Maverick, already an experienced marksman and fighter with the power to absorb kinetic energy. Then Weapon X brought him in, upgraded him, and basically designed him to hunt Wolverine, transforming him into Agent Zero. They removed his scent so Wolverine can't track him, gave him a vibranium suit that helps suppress sound, enhanced his healing, and even changed his energy attacks to mess up Logan's healing. That doesn't mean he can easily beat Wolverine or anyone else in that Logan family, but it does make him especially dangerous against other Weapon X projects.

11. Fantomex can make you believe things that never happened

Fantomex is Weapon XIII. By this point, Weapon Plus was doing a whole lot more than taking normal people and making them superhuman. Fantomex was artificially developed as part of the super sentinel program. He's an elite marksman, has nano sentinel technology, and there's EVA, his own external nervous system that can come out from his body and operate on its own. On top of that, Fantomex can mess with your perception, making people believe something happened when it really didn't.

10. Captain America is arguably the ultimate success story

Captain America might be unexpected here, but this whole program basically traces itself back to Steve Rogers. Project Rebirth was retroactively classified as Weapon I, the original great success that Weapon Plus spent decades trying to follow, and Steve is arguably the ultimate success story. He's peak human, the ultimate in physical potential, and on top of that he's one of the best fighters in Marvel.

He spends his entire life beating people who physically outclass him, and you give him the shield on top of that. He's fast enough to see bullets coming and dodge them, and strong enough to hurt Rhino or the Hulk. He's arguably the greatest tactician and strategist in the universe. He is the ultimate soldier.

9. X-23 is one of the nastiest killers out there

Laura Kinney was created from Wolverine's genetic material and raised from childhood to be the ultimate assassin. She's got the healing factor, enhanced senses, and the physical abilities you'd expect from Wolverine's daughter, except Laura has two adamantium claws in each hand and another claw in her foot. She's ridiculously dangerous, especially in close quarters, and she can heal from basically anything. She might not be as outright durable as Wolverine because she doesn't have the adamantium skeleton, but she's still one of the nastiest killers out there.

8. Sabretooth never stays down

Sabretooth is basically the nightmare creation of Weapon X. Victor Creed is super strong and incredibly fast, with enhanced senses, claws, a powerful healing factor, and decades of experience hunting and killing people. You can beat Sabretooth or get the better of him from time to time, but the problem is getting him to stay down. He just doesn't know the meaning of the word quit.

Then there's Wolverine. Sabretooth has spent years proving he can push Logan harder than almost anyone. He's often stronger than Wolverine, every bit as vicious, and he knows Logan better than most of his enemies ever will. It's so bad that he hunts down Wolverine on his birthday every year just to beat him.

7. Luke Cage's one trick is good enough to rank high

It might be surprising to see Luke Cage here, but Luke's experiment was eventually tied into Project Power, Weapon Six, which means he's technically part of this whole Weapon Plus family. Physically, Luke is a monster and one of the strongest street level heroes out there. He's gone up against guys like the Thing and Hulk and managed to land a few good hits or hold his own, and his skin lets him shrug off bullets, explosions, basically anything.

I guess you can argue that Luke Cage is a bit of a one trick pony: super strong and super tough, and that's about it. But when your one trick is this good and this powerful, you're going to rank pretty high.

6. Wolverine is the most famous Weapon X experiment ever

Wolverine is the most famous Weapon X experiment ever, and it's not even a debate. Logan already had an incredible healing factor, enhanced senses, and a lifetime of wars and fights before Weapon X bonded adamantium to his skeleton. After that, he can survive ridiculous punishment while carrying six claws made from one of the strongest metals in Marvel. He might not be the strongest or the fastest, but his insane durability and those claws allow him to regularly fight well above his weight class. There's a reason one of his most famous rivals is the literal Hulk.

Logan can definitely slip into that berserker rage and become a feral animal, but he's actually one of the most elite fighters on Earth, and there's a strong argument he's a top 10 fighter in Marvel. Whether you're facing the warrior or the animal within, odds are you're not going to get the better of those claws.

5. Agent Venom is a trained soldier bonded with the symbiote

Flash Thompson, Spider-Man's childhood bully, became Agent Venom through Project Rebirth 2.0, and that program was later folded into the history of Weapon Five's symbiote experiments, so I'm counting him here. In a fight, Agent Venom is exactly what you'd expect from a trained soldier bonded with the Venom symbiote: superhuman strength, speed, agility and durability, along with webbing, shapeshifting, and the ability to create basically any weapon out of the symbiotic goo. Venom has always been able to give Spider-Man some of the hardest fights of his life, and Agent Venom is really no different.

4. The Stepford Cuckoos are five pseudo Emma Frosts

Weapon XIV is the Stepford Cuckoos. Weapon Plus used Emma Frost's DNA to produce more than 8,000 potential clones, eventually releasing the five girls we know as the Cuckoos. When they work together, their telepathy combines into one extremely powerful supermind. They can read minds, control people, cause some serious pain, knock someone unconscious, and even erase memories. If somebody does manage to catch them, they also inherited Emma's ability to turn their bodies into organic diamond. Maybe they're not as powerful as Emma Frost straight up, but fighting five pseudo Emma Frosts is a lot easier said than done.

3. American Kaiju is basically Captain America Godzilla

The American Kaiju is exactly what he looks like: a knockoff of Godzilla with the American flag on his stomach. Basically, Captain America Godzilla. Todd Ziller is just absolutely insane. He was created in Project Troubleshooter, which used a ridiculous cocktail of existing superhuman research on him, including gamma radiation, mutant growth hormone, Pym particles, and Curt Connors' lizard formula. All of that combined transformed him into American Kaiju.

He's massive, basically a walking skyscraper. He's strong enough to battle giant war machines and even stomp Red Hulk into the ground, and he can take on giant monsters and terrorize entire cities. American Kaiju is definitely one of the craziest things Weapon X has ever come up with.

2. Man-Thing only misses the top spot because he runs on instinct

Just like Captain America and Luke Cage, Man-Thing technically makes this list too. Ted Sallis' project was eventually identified as Weapon IV. After injecting himself with experimental serum and crashing into the swamp surrounding the Nexus of All Realities, Ted became something more than human. His body is made up entirely of the swamp: algae, moss, plant life. Try to damage him, and he can just easily come back.

He can also sense emotions and burn anyone experiencing intense fear just by touching them, and of course there's his connection to the Nexus of All Realities. He's strong enough to hurt the Thing or Hulk, he can interact with and manipulate reality, and he's the complete controller of a separate realm composed entirely of his own consciousness. The only reason he's not instantly number one is that Man-Thing operates mostly on instinct, so he's not always the best at using his powers to their fullest potential.

1. Weapon H is what happens when you smash Wolverine and Hulk together

Number one has to be Weapon H. Clayton Cortez was taken by the modern day Weapon X program and transformed using DNA from both Hulk and Wolverine, armored with adamantium, and even given nanotech similar to Lady Deathstrike. Really, Weapon H is just what happens when you smash Wolverine and the Hulk together, and that's why he's number one. He has Wolverine's healing factor, adamantium skeleton and claws, all backed by the insane, overwhelming strength of the Hulk.

Weapon Plus has spent the past few decades trying to create the perfect weapon. After all the super soldiers, mutants, sentinels, symbiotes and monsters, one of the most ridiculous things Weapon X ever did was basically look at Hulk and Wolverine and decide they should be the same person. Somehow, it worked.

Which Weapon X project would you rank as the strongest?
