John Wick vs Jack Reacher: Why I Think Wick Still Wins This Fight

Can Jack Reacher beat John Wick? That is the question I wanted to settle, because if you have seen any of the John Wick movies, your first instinct is probably no way. Keanu Reeves plays an action god, and Wick is the absolute best at what he does, so who is really beating him? My answer is to hold on a second, because I think Reacher has a fair shot here before Wick pulls ahead.

Jack Reacher's Size and Strength Make Him a Genuine Threat

For starters, Reacher is just an absolute giant of a man. He is 6'3, over 230 pounds, and freakishly strong. He is breaking bones with a single punch, and he can set off a car's airbag or flip a car pretty much single handedly. In the show, Reacher is basically treated as superhumanly strong.

In fights, that strength shows up constantly. He is throwing grown men through the air, lifting and slamming them around, or just knocking people out with a single hit.

Reacher's Military Training Gives Him Real Skill, Just Not John Wick's Level

While Reacher obviously is not as skilled as John Wick, he has got some pretty great skill of his own. He has extensive military training and knows all about the human body, knows exactly how to make you hurt. His style is often attack first and attack violently.

He is also actually really good at reading his opponent, understanding how they fight and how to beat them.

Why I Think Wick Is Tougher and Faster Across the Board

But while Reacher can give John Wick a good fight, I do think there comes a point where Wick is just better, across the board, just better. Reacher is stronger, but Wick is both tougher and faster. He is tougher because he is wearing a bulletproof suit and can survive getting shot, as well as surviving car crashes, falling down stairs, and falling off buildings. He is faster because we see him actually dodging bullets.

Wick also is not a stranger to fighting bigger guys than him. Sure, they will give him trouble sometimes, but I still think he would be able to beat Reacher too.

Throw Weapons Into the Equation and It Is Not Even Close

Once you throw weapons into the equation, it is not even close. Wick is over 400 kills throughout the movies, half of them with a pistol. Reacher, on the other hand, rarely fights with firearms across any of the four seasons of the show.

In a gunfight, it is not even close in Wick's favor. Hand to hand is closer, but I still think it is going to go John Wick's way. John Wick wins.
