Gina Is the Key to MobLand Season 2 as Maeve Pushes to Cut Her Out of Eddie's Deal

Harry's daughter has gone from exam hall to street business, and Maeve, Eddie and Harry all want something different from her

I believe Gina is an important character in season 2. Harry's daughter has gone from a quiet student who lived for her exams to a key player in a street business with Eddie, and now Maeve wants her out of the partnership.

That is the whole problem right there: Maeve wants Gina out, Eddie wants her in, and Harry wants his daughter back from the relationship. But the biggest influence in all of this is Gina herself. Later in this piece I lay out my theories for where her story could go, including one that could see her take over all of London.

Gina Went From Serious Student to Eddie's Street Business Partner

Gina was a quiet, lovely girl who loved her studies very much. She loved them so much that she got really angry when Harry tried to take her out of the exam hall. "Do you know how hard I worked for that?" she tells him. That is the kind of passion and seriousness she put into her education, only for it to be dragged through the mud because of the Harrigan family business, which includes her father. Sometimes life can be troublesome even when you are not part of the problem. Problems are inevitable, and you just have to prepare yourself at any point in time.

Maeve and Gina did not see eye to eye after Harry brought his family to stay with the Harrigans while Richie's war was dealt with. Maeve once stared into Gina's face while making some horrible comments about her body, telling her, "If you look at him, I'll eat your eyes." It is not what she said but how she said it, looking right through her eyes. She got the girl really scared, and Gina quickly ran upstairs to spend time alone. We also saw the way Conrad talked to her, as if he wanted to get her into bed, which sounds like Conrad.

In that family, selfishness is the top priority. If you are not part of the family, even if your father is very hard working, it makes you weak in the eyes of every Harrigan. So you have to always stay sharp.

Gina has now shifted from school to street business with Eddie, which is surprising to me. I never suspected her of getting involved in street activities, especially given how seriously she took her education. I was even thinking Harry would get her a new school, or if he could not, get her back into her old one. That could have helped her stay focused and even weakened her relationship with Eddie, because that relationship has influenced her more negatively than positively, and it is the reason she started in the street business in the first place.

Maeve Wants Gina Out of Her Secret Deal With Eddie

Maeve is secretly doing business with Eddie, and in the cafe restaurant we saw them together after a successful deal. Eddie paid 30,000 pounds and told Maeve that Gina had contributed a lot to this particular deal. Maeve said she liked his style, but she wanted Gina out of the partnership.

I am not surprised that she wants Gina out, because Maeve has never liked Gina in the first place. This might cause some friction between Eddie and Maeve, because when it comes to love, we know how far some people can go to protect it.

Eddie Calls Gina a Natural, but Is She Really a Criminal Strategist?

When Maeve said she wanted Gina gone, Eddie told her: "She makes the contacts, sets them up. She's a natural." That should tell you how important Gina is in this business. She is the one who confronts the source and negotiates with them, just like a boss would.

I do not know where Gina got her skills for negotiating street business. Her father did not work with her, so how can she do something in a business deal that her father would not be able to do? She has gone from a student to setting up meetings with rich content creators, helping Eddie squeeze them. That is how quickly one's life can change.

But is Gina a true criminal strategist? Luring rich content creators in and making deals with them tells me she is a criminal strategist, unless she is not. Eddie defended Gina and got her respect with what he said, but is it really true that she has the guts for that role? She could, but it is Gina we are talking about. That is why I believe Eddie said it to Maeve because of the love he has for Gina. Removing her from the partnership would make it look like he could not defend the one he loves. Whether Gina truly has those skills is something we will find out later.

Gina Left Home and Told Her Mother to End Things With Harry

Gina and her father have had issues from the past, and it has been slowly eating her up. She no longer trusts that her father can protect the family, so she left them to stay with Eddie, the one she currently loves and trusts. After she left, she sent her mother a note that says "it's called a door", telling her to end things with Harry.

I do not think she has the maturity and emotional level to make a decision like that, because divorce is not as simple and free as she may think. Living with Eddie might feel like a new environment where she can breathe and heal from her past wounds and the hateful emotions she has in her heart for her father. But from the outside, this does not seem right.

Things getting hard does not give Gina the right to be the decision maker for her mom and dad. We know she is hurt, but telling your mom what to do because things are not going your way is childish. Imagine if her parents had broken up when she was just five years old. Who would have thought she would be living the luxurious lifestyle she lives now? Many people would be very proud and grateful to be in that position, and she is throwing it all away.

I am simply saying she does not know what she is doing. All she needs is a little gratitude toward her father for everything he has given up to keep them safe. I believe she did it because of the hatred she has for him, and I am also sure she joined the business with Eddie just to prove to her father that she can make it on her own without his contribution.

Maeve's Demand Is a Big Test of What Eddie Really Values

Maeve does not want Gina in the partnership, and when it comes to Eddie, although he loves Gina, nothing will come between him and his family. But this could also be a new phase for Eddie, as he is on his own path, surviving alone with Maeve. Maybe he might choose Gina if it comes to a point where he has to choose between her and his family. Sometimes, though, love is not always enough; there is also security and a sense of belonging. If Eddie overrides those conditions and still chooses Gina, then nothing will change the love he has for her.

This new phase of the show is so interesting, and I really love it. There is Conrad's feud, and Gina and Maeve's, but where does Eddie stand in all of this? We will find that out later. Maeve asking him to throw Gina under the bus and cut her off is a big test of what he really values: his family, or his new girl, Gina. Aside from being his lover, Gina is a big contributor to this partnership, and cutting her off is a risk Eddie will have to pay for on his own later.

Consider how Maeve has been treating Eddie in the family. She treats him with so much love and makes him feel more like himself and free. Who would opt out of that affection? Turning down her request would be the biggest betrayal of his life. Conrad has never liked Eddie's character and always complains about him, but every time Eddie brings in bad news, Maeve comforts him and makes him feel better. Going against her order would be something Maeve cannot stand. Maybe this could also prove what kind of man Eddie is, because some choices will break our hearts as men anyway.

On the other hand, if Eddie chooses to keep Gina, that is proof of how enormous his love is for her and how long he wants their relationship to last. But what happens if Gina finds out Maeve wants her gone? That can breed mistrust and disloyalty in the relationship, because Gina knows how important Maeve is to him. Even if Eddie wants her to stay, that will not be enough to stop her suspecting something fishy is going on right under their nose.

Harry Has Found Gina, but Getting Her Back Is Another Matter

In the premiere, Harry is told, "We found her." He now has her location and could get her anytime he wants. The question is whether he can actually get Gina back. He could get his daughter's location, but getting her back is something he cannot do. This new chapter of Gina's life has nothing to do with her past, because that would remind her of the things she went through. Getting along with Harry is something she will not risk even with a gun pointed at her, which tells you how much she hates her father.

Still, it is time for her to give up these emotions and forgive her father, because they could contain and control her for years, and as the years add up, forgiveness gets more difficult. And if Harry goes to where Gina is staying and talks to her, will he be able to withstand the fact that his daughter wants nothing to do with him anymore?

I believe fathers sometimes suppress so many emotions and still walk outside with smiling faces as if nothing is bothering them. Harry is a typical example: a man who can control his emotions even if it is killing him. Notice how he kept his composure when Gina's mother told him she wants a divorce. What made me feel the love he has for the family was when he received an important call from work and decided not to pick it up during that conversation. That nearly broke my heart. He also tried to get her to talk it through, but she had already made up her mind, following her daughter's directions.

And if Gina also abandons her father, will she be able to call him and ask for help when she needs it most? The kind of business she is now in with Eddie needs a special form of security, and only her father could give her that.

My Theory: Harry, Eddie and Maeve Will Clash Over Who Decides Gina's Future

I have a theory I believe might be possible in the show: conflict over who gets to make decisions about Gina. Maeve already wants her out of the partnership, and we know what that will mean to Gina once she hears about it. Even if Eddie telling her what Maeve said would show some loyalty to Gina, it is not enough to stop her having little mistrusts and suspicions of him. That information could also help her discover a lot about the business and use it as a form of protection. My problem with her is that without security, how will she cope if she wants out of the partnership in case Eddie betrays her?

We can also see tension coming between Eddie and Harry. The little chat Harry had with Eddie about his daughter was already a threat, and it got to Eddie a little, yet he still paid the price to stay in the relationship. Now that Harry knows Gina's location, he might try to connect with her and lead her as a father would. When Harry tries to take her back or make decisions for her, Eddie will step in, because that would undermine his authority as the man in the relationship. That tension could start something big later, and it could also push Gina to make her own decisions, since the two of them are treating her like a baby.

Could Gina Become Powerful Enough to Take Over London?

My next theory is whether Gina could become something even bigger, big enough to take over all of London. She is already setting up meetings and making more connections, which expands her territory in the business. I am not saying this would happen in the show; it is just a prediction.

Maeve knowing about Gina's contribution and still wanting her gone could be reason enough for kidnapping, betrayal and death threats to come into Gina's life. Her presence alone already makes someone powerful inconvenienced, and that tells me what a threat she is. She could even gain more influence and credibility on the street than Maeve, and someone like Maeve would not settle for that.

For Harry, one painful thing that could happen is finding out he can still protect Gina from danger and still lose her trust. He has to understand that protecting his daughter and keeping her alive does not mean she will accept him as the father figure he once was. Gina should also put her pride aside and consider her situation carefully. She cannot intimidate the people she meets for business and expect no security by her side. That is not independence to me; it is carelessness. Maybe the show will use her to help us understand what an exit strategy actually demands.

That is why I believe Gina is an important character in season 2. She can grow powerful and influential enough to stand on her own, and Harry and his daughter could also run the game on their own if they come together.

Do you think Harry will regain Gina's trust after everything?
