Dragon Ball Super Beerus Final Trailer Breakdown: Release Date, Episode Count and a Surprise Super Saiyan God Scene

The newest trailer for the Dragon Ball Super enhanced edition confirms an October premiere, a tight episode count, new theme songs and at least one scene we have never seen before.

Published 3 September 2026. Words like "tonight" or "next week" refer to that date.

The newest and likely final trailer for Dragon Ball Super Beerus dropped with a lot of hype moments and surprises, and it confirmed a lot of what has been reported, including by me here on this channel, about what this project actually is. Dragon Ball Super Beerus is the official title of the Dragon Ball Super enhanced edition, and I am going to walk through the trailer shot by shot while also passing along the news dropped alongside it.

First and foremost, we now have an official release date and time. The new broadcast began on Sunday, October 11, at 11:15 p.m. Japanese Standard Time. For those of us over here in this hemisphere, that works out to Sundays at 10:15 a.m., and once Daylight Saving hits, it moves to 9:15 a.m. Sunday morning. That is when it airs on Fuji TV, which I believe was One Piece's old time slot. Shortly after the Japanese broadcast, it will show up on streaming platforms subtitled, roughly an hour to an hour and a half later depending on how fast the upload goes.

Battle of Gods, Resurrection F and the Champa arc are being folded into just 19 episodes

This project is going to be Battle of Gods, Resurrection F, and the Champa arc, and the Universe 6 tournament, all combined, running from October to February. That matches what we reported a few months back. The breakdown is six episodes for Battle of Gods, six for the Resurrection F remake, and seven for the Champa arc, for a total of 19. I originally said 20 on this channel, and it could still land at 20, but I am leaning more toward 19 now.

Shaving three arcs down into 19 episodes is a lot to me, but some of the visuals shown in the trailer look great. It is like almost a Kai type of remaster, but with a few more bonuses than I think Kai actually gave us. You are going to see some of the same scenes, some enhanced scenes, and a small handful of new scenes meant to bridge things together.

The trailer opens on Beerus dreaming of the Super Saiyan God, setting up the Battle of Gods story

The trailer opens with shots from Goku versus Beerus as Goku prepares the Kamehameha against a sleeping Beerus, all pulled from the first episode. Those Beerus shots are meant to represent him dreaming about the Super Saiyan God, since the whole story starts with Beerus having a dream about an opponent who will challenge him, tied to a prophecy once made by the Oracle fish. That is how the Battle of Gods story originally kicked off.

There is also a teaser for Frieza early on, with a lot more Frieza to come later in the trailer. We then get our first look at Universe 6, including Champa hitting Frost and glimpses of Whis, Vegeta, Botamo and Cabba, all quick cuts of moments we will see across the run.

The Kaio-ken blue scene against Hit is confirmed to still be in the enhanced edition

A lot of people were worried about losing the Kaio-ken blue scene from the Champa arc, and I had tried to reassure everyone that it was not going anywhere. The trailer confirms it: the Kaio-ken blue scene against Hit is still in this version, though visually it is many leaps ahead of the original. Dragon Ball Super had a very short pre-production window the first time around, and this version has clearly been worked on for a while with a lot of touch-ups.

Resurrection F is my least favorite arc in all of Dragon Ball, and I am hoping this version fixes it

The Resurrection F arc of Super is my least favorite arc in all of Dragon Ball. The movie was way better. From what the trailer shows, they are going to fix a lot of those problems and cut a lot of the weaker material, landing closer to the movie in quality, and some shots actually look better than the movie in places.

One shot shows what looks like Florida destroyed on a world map, which does not really make sense to me, because in the Dragon Ball world Toriyama originally drew, there is no recognizable North America, South America, Asia or Europe. There is no Tokyo, no New York, no London, just fictional locations like East City, West City and Ginger Town. I have always found it a little goofy that Super has shown us an Earth that looks more like the real one, and I think whoever made that call just did not think it through.

New intro and outro theme songs replace Chozetsu Dynamic, with VK Blanca handling the ending

There are new intro and outro theme songs for this version, which we already suspected since it was not going to use Chozetsu Dynamic. The ending theme is called Keki noki from VK Blanca, and the trailer plays it over more Oracle fish imagery. The intro theme also plays later in the trailer and it sounds pretty nice.

On composer duties, Norihito Sumitomo is back to score the anime, as he revealed on his Instagram a couple of days ago. He composed the original anime and the Broly movie. I am expecting some new music from him alongside old themes, though I want to be clear that is not a leak or inside info, just my own read based on the fact that he is still actively composing.

A new scene shows Goku turning Super Saiyan God while wearing the Whis training outfit for the first time

One shot in the trailer stood out because I did not initially recognize where it was from. During the confrontation with Frieza, we see Goku go from Super Saiyan into Super Saiyan God while wearing the Whis training outfit, something we never saw in either the original Resurrection F movie or the original Super version, where he only used base form and Super Saiyan during the Universe 6 tournament before jumping straight to Blue in both Resurrection F and the tournament.

I cannot talk too much about this based on stuff I have heard, but I want people to temper their expectations. I do not think we are getting an entire thirty minute battle between Super Saiyan God Goku and Frieza, but there will be little bonuses here and there that were not in the original movie or the original Super version.

The Vegeta and Cabba relationship is one I am worried could get cut down

The trailer includes the "don't ever forget this pain" moment between Vegeta and Cabba, which is one of my favorite interactions from that entire arc. There is not much there that they should cut, because it is genuinely strong character material for both of them, and I am concerned about too many cuts coming in that end up taking away some of those character moments.

The trailer also confirms the director is still Tayoshi Yamamuru, with Toriyama credited as always and Sumitomo confirmed as composer. That lines up with the October 11 premiere at 11:15 p.m. Japan time, roughly 10:00 a.m. on the East Coast, with streaming subtitled versions following about an hour or so later depending on upload speed.
