Spider-Man: Far From Home Post-Credit Scenes Explained: Peter's Identity Exposed and a Skrull Twist Revealed

Breaking down both bonus scenes from the Spider-Man sequel, from J. Jonah Jameson's Daily Bugle broadcast to the Skrull reveal involving Nick Fury and Maria Hill.

Spider-Man: Far From Home has two bonus scenes. Here is what actually happens in both the mid-credits and end-credits scenes, and how they set up the future of the MCU.

Full spoilers follow for anyone who has not seen the film.

Peter Parker's identity is exposed by J. Jonah Jameson on a Daily Bugle broadcast

The first scene picks up with Peter Parker swinging through New York with MJ after successfully defeating Mysterio in the main film. It looks like everything has worked out for him. He drops MJ off and lands on a lamppost, where he spots a Daily Bugle news report playing on a large Madison Square Garden screen. The Bugle has apparently acquired an exclusive clip, and the segment is hosted by none other than J. Jonah Jameson, played by JK Simmons.

Jameson plays a clip that Mysterio made during the film, one that appears to show that Spider-Man has been the one behind the elementals all along, and that he stopped Mysterio so he could replace Iron Man as the world's number one hero. Jameson calls him "a menace" and brands him as "a liar that killed the world's greatest superhero" before the clip reveals that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. It is big news, Peter is devastated, and the scene cuts to black, similar to the ending of Homecoming when Aunt May discovered Peter's secret.

In my view, this plays out a bit like the Civil War storyline, since the entire world now knows Parker is Spider-Man. But there is a lot more weight added here because the public also believes he murdered Mysterio. Marvel is no stranger to exposing the identities of its heroes, and this is going to cause real problems for a wall-crawler who is still in high school. Going forward, I think Peter will have to try to fake it somehow, though with the Bugle already in on the secret, that could prove difficult.

This ending gets me amped up for the rest of the MCU. I can sort of see the villains joining together to form a Sinister Six for the third film.

Nick Fury and Maria Hill turn out to be Skrulls named Talos and his wife

The second scene starts with Nick Fury and Maria Hill transforming into Skrulls, revealed to be none other than Talos and his wife from Captain Marvel. This had been leaked heavily online in the week before release, and it turns out to be true, which is honestly crazy to see confirmed. A lot of people have been "kind of nagging on this scene," but what it means is that throughout Far From Home, the two shield agents we saw have in fact been Skrulls the entire time.

This also explains why Fury gets so angry about Peter dissing Captain Marvel earlier in the movie. It turns out that the real Nick Fury and Maria Hill are actually on vacation. Whilst they initially seem to be on a beach, they are in fact aboard a Skrull ship.

Going forward, this means Skrulls are still around and have apparently been slowly getting involved with world politics, which teases a return for them in future films. If Marvel goes in the direction of "some kind of Secret Invasion stuff that'll be amazing," though it remains to be seen what happens from here.

What do you think these two scenes mean for the future of the MCU?
