House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 4 Called One of the Best Game of Thrones Episodes Yet

House of the Dragon season 2 episode 4 left me floored, and without giving away a single beat, I am calling it one of the best hours this show has produced. My immediate response the moment it ended was simple: are you kidding me with this episode.

I am not spoiling anything here. I did a full reaction to the episode that I planned to release the next day. If you have not watched it, go watch it immediately. If you are not caught up on season 2, catch up so you can get to this one.

Answering the People Who Say Nothing Is Happening This Season

I have seen people online saying this season has been a lot of talking and not a lot going on. To those people I say, "what the hell are you talking about." The whole reason this episode hits as hard as it does is because of everything that led into it, the previous season, the previous episodes, the writing, the character development. Those moments only land because of the setup that came before them.

Throughout the episode you get pushed forward through the different relationships happening between characters like Rhaenyra, Rhaenys, Alicent and Aegon, and all the conversations about how to succeed, what people believe, and how leadership is evolving. All of that comes to a head in this episode, and when you finally see how the game is being played and who is doing what and for what reason, it lands. There is also a lot going on with Daemon by the way. A lot is happening in that castle.

My Verdict on the Episode

This episode was phenomenal. It is not only hands down the best episode of the season, it might be the best episode of the series thus far, and in my opinion it is in contention as one of the best Game of Thrones episodes period. I might be in the minority on that, I have no idea, and I do not care.

I was on the edge of my seat. In my reaction to the episode you can see me holding my head, screaming at one point, cheering the next. This is everything I wanted from this show, and I planned to watch it again that same night, that is how much I liked it. It was just a great piece of television, and I cannot wait to see where it goes next.
