Mars Attacks Christmas Box Opening Delivers a Fighter Jet Relic and Four Numbered Cards

A festive alien invasion set turned up a relic, a Chris Parnell Caught in the Crossfire card numbered to 50 and a green Santa Claus parallel

I opened a Mars Attacks box and pulled an invasion worn fighter jet relic along with four numbered cards. I came away happy with the break, especially with how many numbered cards turned up.

The box advertises invasion worn relics, Caught in the Crossfire autographs and a bonus box topper. I didn't even know it came with a topper. Mine was a Season's Greetings from California piece, and it looks like the same thing all around, since I think it is on the bottom of the box too.

The First Pack of Mars Attacks Christmas Gave Me a Cabin Ablaze Card Numbered to 99

I had no idea what was in these packs, and I don't think numbered cards are even guaranteed. The first pack opened with Over an Open Fire, The Giant Spider and a UFO card. Then came a refractor, which was oddly facing backwards in the pack, and it turned out to be Cabin Ablaze numbered to 99. I should have got sleeves before I started.

After Imposters in the Street, I felt a card that was a lot thicker than the others and suspected a relic. After The Elves Fight Back, there it was: an authentic fighter jet relic, invasion worn and not numbered. The Martian King rounded out the pack.

"Would have preferred Santa's costume," I said, but we actually did get a relic. As for what it is made of, "it's probably just like a piece of like cardboard to be honest." At least we got one.

A Chris Parnell Caught in the Crossfire Parallel Looked Like an Autograph but Was Numbered to 50

The second pack started with Cupid, then a white card I didn't recognise: a Caught in the Crossfire parallel of Chris Parnell. I thought it was an autograph, but it isn't. It is numbered to 50, which made two numbered cards so far, even though the box never said there were any numbered cards.

The rest of that pack held the Elf Leader, A Baker's Dozen, the Gingerbread Man, a fighter jet card, the Reindeer mythic creature, the Yeti and Earth Suffers Casualties. I think the relics were something like one in 10 boxes. On price, I think these retail for around 70 dollars, though I also guessed it could be something like 300 dollars a box.

The Green Santa Claus Parallel Numbered to 350 Is a Card I Am Keeping

The next pack brought Santa Claus, Assault in the North and the Daily News headline Christmas Invasion card, which is a cool one. Then came a green parallel of Santa Claus numbered to 350. "That's a sick card," and it is one I am going to keep.

That made three numbered cards in about four packs, and I was happy with that. The following pack was a base pack: Unwell Guests, Greetings from the North Pole, a red Mrs. Claus that isn't numbered, Burns a Martian and a UFO. A Chuck Norris autograph is one of the possible pulls here, but it didn't show up.

An Elf Leader Parallel Numbered to 250 Made Four Numbered Cards

Next came Mrs. Claus, Cupid and New York Attacked, then a parallel Elf Leader numbered to 250, followed by Bigfoot. I like that there are a lot of numbered cards. My guess is unnumbered relics probably go for something like 10 to 25 dollars.

Cryptids Alliance card looked a little different, so it might be a parallel, or maybe not. I will have to check the odds on some of these inserts. The Final Stand closed that pack.

Mike Tyson Turned Up in Caught in the Crossfire, Which Can Be Autographed

With two packs left, I pulled Terror at the Rocks, set at Rockefeller, and Sound the Alarm. Then I thought I had an autograph again, but it was a Mike Tyson Caught in the Crossfire card. Those can be autographs. Jack Frost appeared as an unnumbered red.

The last pack held Earth Retaliates, Peril on the Rails, a Checklist, The Naughty List and Jack Frost. Overall, for 60 or 70 dollars, it's not too bad. My haul was four numbered cards (Elf Leader, Santa Claus, the Caught in the Crossfire card, which was probably one of the more rare ones, and Cabin Ablaze to 99) plus the fighter jet relic.

Would you rather pull a fighter jet relic or hold out for a piece of Santa's costume?
