Avengers: Doomsday Reportedly Set for Two Post Credit Scenes Tied to Secret Wars

New reports point to a Loki reveal and a Battleworld tease that could set the stage for Avengers: Secret Wars

The Cosmic Wonder (AI-assisted)4 September 2026 · Editor: Digital Fox Talent Editorial Team 1,080 words · 5 min read

New reports on Avengers: Doomsday claim the film will carry two separate post credit scenes, and both reportedly tie directly into what Avengers: Secret Wars is building toward. I want to go over what these reports say and what I think they mean for both films.

Two Separate Sneak Peeks Are Coming With Avengers Endgame's Re-Release

Before getting into the post credit scenes, I want to clear up confusion around the Avengers Endgame encore re-release. There are two different pieces of new Doomsday footage tied to it, not just one. The first is the four minutes of new footage that is being worked into the Endgame re-release itself, showing throughout the film as a tease.

The second, from what I have been hearing, is exclusive to certified premium format auditoriums, playing either before or after the movie. Looking online, I only see the Endgame encore listed in those premium formats, so it does not look like this second sneak peek is going out to a lot of regular theater screens. Either way, there are two distinct new footage drops, not one.

Avengers Doomsday's First Post Credit Scene Reportedly Reveals Loki Survived

The Russo brothers have reportedly wanted very serious post credit scenes, and they already delivered that tone with Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four First Steps. From what we know, they did not do the post credit scene for Spider-Man Brand New Day, which I think is worth noting because that one was, in my opinion, just all right. We could have gotten something a lot cooler than that, so it is good to know the Russos are sticking to the same serious approach heading into Doomsday.

The first Doomsday post credit scene is reportedly going to reveal that Loki is still alive. A lot of plot leaks out there have said Loki dies in the film, and I know some people take issue with characters dying and getting resurrected in Secret Wars because it can undercut the stakes. But there is reportedly a spin on this: Loki survives, but without the powers he had in the Loki series, and outside of this specific report I have also been hearing he will not have his memory either.

That would line up with what Doctor Doom does in the comics when he creates Battleworld, where nobody remembers anything from before and everyone believes Doom is their god because he created the very planet they live on. I am assuming Doomsday will do something similar. My guess is that the vast majority of characters who die will eventually be resurrected, though I do think there might be a permanent death or two. We do not know if Doom's method is a spell or something more literal tied to Franklin Richards' powers, so I would not assume everyone comes back.

I am glad Loki reportedly survives, because I do not want this version of the character, built across two seasons of Loki, to just die. His arc is great, and I need him to meet Thor eventually. It does not sound like that happens in Doomsday, so it seems we have to wait for Secret Wars for that reunion, and probably for the explanation behind Thor crying with Deadpool as well.

The Second Post Credit Scene Reportedly Shows Tobey Maguire and Hugh Jackman on Battleworld

The second post credit scene reportedly shows Tobey Maguire and Hugh Jackman on Battleworld, which lines up with a lot of other reports we have already heard. I think this scene exists partly to confirm they survived, since I expect the film to trick audiences early on into thinking their characters died before someone, maybe Loki himself or Mobius or someone from the TVA, swoops in to save them.

Seeing them alive on Battleworld also confirms that Doomsday ends with Doctor Doom winning and creating Battleworld by combining pieces of whatever universes are left, which is how the new MCU ends up with one shared universe containing everybody. Outside of this report, I have also heard that Maguire's Spider-Man and Jackman's Wolverine will be on a specific mission to find Loki, since he can reportedly see into many different branches, which would explain why they are searching for him once they reach Battleworld.

This also ties back to the reports that people on Battleworld do not remember their pasts, matching the leaked concept art showing Doom on a throne with Vanessa Kirby's Sue Storm at his side alongside her son, Franklin Richards. In the comics, Doom takes Reed's entire family, so her presence there without memory would track with that.

Elizabeth Olsen Reportedly Returning as Scarlet Witch Amid Ongoing Reshoots

Elizabeth Olsen is reportedly set to return as the Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Doomsday, and I expect her to be one of the witches following Doctor Doom based on everything reported so far, with a bigger role reserved for Secret Wars. Her stunt double was reportedly spotted on set in costume, and according to Daniel RPK, the production is currently doing more reshoots.

I do not think anyone should panic over more reshoots given the size of this cast. I think they knew they weren't going to get everybody in all the scenes in the first round of shooting, and in the second round they knew it was going to take many rounds of shooting to get everybody and film all of the scenes. Any changes made for the better are changes I am fine with. That stunt double also posted an old picture from Civil War to Instagram, which is not new footage, but it is a hint that more Scarlet Witch work could be coming.

I think the Scarlet Witch is going to play a big role in restoring people's memories on Battleworld, similar to how she controlled all of Westview in WandaVision. Doom's version would not be identical, but he wipes memories in a comparable way, and I think Scarlet Witch could be one of the key figures using magic to undo that.

X-Men Material in Secret Wars Reportedly Bigger Than Expected

Sadie Sink's Jean Grey is confirmed for Avengers: Secret Wars, and reports now suggest a lot of X-Men characters will appear alongside her, plus characters like Ghost Rider and the new Black Panther. That makes sense to me since Secret Wars should be the new shared universe the MCU moves into going forward.

MyTimeToShineHello has said the X-Men material in Secret Wars is "bigger than most people are bracing for, not just cameos." I think Jean Grey will have a role in restoring memories much like Scarlet Witch, and regardless of the long running debate over who is stronger between Scarlet Witch and the Phoenix Force, seeing the two of them work together side by side in Avengers: Doomsday would be really, really cool. With the old Fox X-Men reportedly returning too, there is a chance for multiversal versions of Jean Grey, possibly even Famke Janssen.

I think Jackman's Wolverine and Maguire's Spider-Man showing up is a big part of breaking Doom's spell over Battleworld, working alongside Scarlet Witch and Jean Grey. There are still open questions, like how Jean Grey factors into the story without appearing in Doomsday, and how Tom Holland's Spider-Man ends up in Secret Wars without being in Doomsday either, at least based on what we are hearing. My guess is the TVA saves Maguire's Spider-Man and Jackman's Wolverine by putting them in the void since they have access to it, while other characters could survive through lifeboats or the Quantum Realm before everyone eventually converges on Battleworld.

I like these post credit scenes because I think they set up a lot for Secret Wars while keeping the same serious tone the Russo brothers have used before. If the film tricks audiences into thinking Maguire and Jackman's characters died early on, revealing they survived in the post credit scene feels like "a big favor to the audience," since these are treasured portrayals to a lot of people, myself included. I am still wondering what happens to Maguire's MJ and whether he has a daughter in this timeline, but that looks like something we will not learn until Secret Wars.

What do you think these two post credit scenes mean for how Secret Wars actually opens?
