Avengers: Doomsday: which 7 characters is Doom hunting?
A report says Doom seeks out people who caused incursions, which could put Steve Rogers, Doctor Strange, Deadpool and four others in his path
According to Daniel RPK, Doctor Doom's purpose in Avengers: Doomsday is to seek out people who caused incursions. I count seven characters who could be on his list. Robert Downey Jr. returns to Marvel to play Doom. Reports at the time about what was being filmed on set pointed to Steve Rogers being one of the targets. That's only one part of the bigger picture, though, and it still seems to me like Doom is a hero trying to save the multiverse.
Doom's arc looks like it follows the Time Runs Out comics, the event that leads into Secret Wars. In those comics, Doom travels the multiverse trying to destroy Molecule Men. They're essentially multiversal bombs that will kill their own universe and every other universe when they go off. The concept seems to be the same here. Doom travels the multiverse trying to kill people who have caused incursions so they won't cause any more.
Steve Rogers may be targeted for going back in time to Peggy
The big report on this is that Doom is going to target Steve Rogers. Apparently, when Steve went back in time to be with Peggy, he caused an incursion.
Some people will point out that Loki season 1 explained the Avengers were meant to go back in time. But time isn't linear at the TVA, which exists outside of space and time. Perhaps Loki and Sylvie took down the TVA and let every branch of the multiverse exist before Steve went back and lived with Peggy. Or perhaps he did something very specific in that universe to cause an incursion.
I don't think it matters, because Michael Waldron, who wrote Loki season 1, is helping write Avengers: Doomsday. From what I understand, that's confirmed. There are many ways they could go about this, but whatever reason they choose, I think it's going to make sense because they have the Loki season 1 writer helping them. This is how we would get the actual Steve Rogers back. Not a variant, but a young Steve Rogers who is the exact same one from Earth 616. I think that's a great idea.
Monica Rambeau could explain Doom's attack on the X-Mansion
Daniel RPK names Monica Rambeau as another person Doom seeks out. She's currently in the X-Men universe. From the information that came out of the Avengers: Doomsday set, Doom goes to the X-Men universe and attacks the X-Mansion using Sentinels.
It wasn't clear why he would randomly attack the X-Mansion. One rumor suggested he could be attacking anchor beings, and Professor X could be one. But if Doom is trying to save the multiverse, killing anchor beings would be the opposite of that. It would mean their universe would eventually be destroyed, which goes against what he'd be trying to do.
Now it makes sense to me. He's trying to kill people who are causing incursions. Monica is causing one directly just by being there. When somebody from one universe is in another, it confuses and destabilizes that universe, as Mister Fantastic explained. So Doom going to the X-Men universe to get Monica makes a lot of sense, and the reasons are simple.
Doctor Strange could team up with Doom to undo incursions
I think Doctor Strange is going to play a huge role in the overall story arc of this movie. We already know he caused an incursion, because Clea showed up at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and told him so. He spent time in other universes in that film, and Clea said they were going to fix it.
I originally thought the empty chair for a mysterious Illuminati member in universe 838 could have been Doom. That would have been cool, because he could have sought revenge for what happened to the Illuminati. Now, though, I want him to be from universe 828, the Fantastic Four's universe, so we can get all of his backstory with Reed Richards.
I have a theory that Clea could be working for Doom. She might not know it's him. She might think it's Rabum Alal, the identity he takes on in the comics when he's trying to save the entire multiverse. Either way, I think she could be the one who brings Strange to Doom.
Doom could tell Strange he has damaged the multiverse, but Strange wants to fix it. Alex Perez at The Cosmic Circus has reported that Strange is going to try to save the multiverse and undo incursions by whatever means necessary. That sure sounds to me like a team up with Doom. Doom is smart, and he probably realizes that having Strange on his side gives him a big power character.
Peter Parker's No Way Home events could put him on Doom's list
Spider-Man: No Way Home was a very big multiversal movie, and another one Doctor Strange was involved with. Things ended up okay by the end. But it wouldn't surprise me at all to find out that all those characters coming from different universes had effects on ours. They were still from another universe, hanging out in this one, and that should destabilize and confuse the universe. Even if they went back, the damage was done. So it would make sense for Doom to seek out Peter Parker.
At some point, there has to be a scene where Peter meets Victor von Doom without his mask and looks at him thinking he's Tony Stark. Whether Peter thinks he's a variant or the real deal doesn't matter. They have to address it in the movie. Otherwise, why bring Robert Downey Jr. back to play Doom, especially when he's rumored to be paid over $200 million for both movies, not just one?
The Venom symbiote is reportedly from another universe
Sticking with Spider-Man characters, Alex Perez also reported that the Venom symbiote in our universe is from a different universe. That would mean it's contributing to an incursion with our universe. That points to Venom, specifically the symbiote, as another possible target. You could also include Eddie Brock, since he was in the 616 universe for a brief moment.
I think it would be a shame if Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock and Venom didn't at least get a cameo in Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars. They should get more than a cameo, but at minimum they deserve one. If Doom is seeking people who caused incursions or destabilized the universe, Eddie and Venom would be on his radar.
Deadpool's trips across universes could draw Doom's attention
Deadpool could be on that radar too. While searching for a different anchor being, you'd imagine he went to many different universes. At the beginning of the film, he went from his universe to the 616 universe, the Sacred Timeline, and back. He auditioned to be an Avenger and spoke with Happy. It seems like Deadpool did some damage to the multiverse.
He also saved his own universe from being destroyed after its anchor being was gone, and he did it without the anchor being. On top of that, I think Deadpool will have a very important role to play, because he knows a lot about anchor beings and could explain them to the other Avengers. I'd think he would be on Doom's radar, but we'll have to wait and see if Doom searches for him.
The Scarlet Witch's role in Doomsday is still unknown
The last one would be the Scarlet Witch. She definitely did a ton of damage to the multiverse. The problem is that her future is uncertain. If Marvel has plans for her in Doomsday and Secret Wars, it's being incredibly quiet about them, and no leaks had gotten out.
A new insider reported that Doom would use Franklin Richards to resurrect the Scarlet Witch, but that's in no way confirmed. Alex Perez, a pretty reliable insider, has said the Scarlet Witch won't be recast after the soft reboot, meaning Elizabeth Olsen will continue playing her after Secret Wars. He hasn't heard anything about her role in Doomsday or Secret Wars, though. That could mean Marvel is being very secretive and she will be in the movies, or perhaps she won't. I'd like to hope it's the secrecy.
Alan Cumming said he had finished his scenes for Avengers: Doomsday. He said he acted in front of green screens most of the time, mostly alone, with fake names used, and that he didn't know who he was fighting half the time. That shows Marvel Studios taking many precautions to stop leaks, to the point that the actors don't know what's going on. So it's very possible Marvel is keeping a Scarlet Witch return secret.
If she does return, I'd imagine Doom wants her for something, either her power or getting rid of her. I'm assuming it would be her powers. Since he's trying to save the multiverse, he could give her his pitch and she could join him. With the power of Franklin Richards and the Scarlet Witch, that would be enough to make him God Emperor Doom in Avengers: Secret Wars. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that. Most of these characters could end up hunted by Doom, and I think that premise is intriguing.
What other creators are saying
More on Robert Downey Jr. →I expect the final trailer within a week or two, probably landing on a Wednesday, and I'm optimistic the reported December 14 Los Angeles premiere is real based on the street permit timing. Marvel is clearly marketing Doomsday as a Doctor Doom movie like Thanos in Infinity War, and I bet it lives up to the hype.

Avengers: Doomsday reportedly never explains the Doom and Stark resemblance because that answer is being saved for Secret Wars. An insider who knows the plot says the film does not address it, calling that the right decision, suggesting Doom stays masked for most of Doomsday with only a final reveal.
