Secret Wars scoop: do Strange and Wanda know Doom's weakness?

A new scoop claims Strange and Wanda know Doom cannot sustain his stolen power, while a Disney Plus change and a stunt double's post may hint at Wanda's comeback

Secret Wars scoop: do Strange and Wanda know Doom's weakness?

There are new details about Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, particularly about the return of the Scarlet Witch. A fresh scoop claims Doctor Strange and Wanda know Doctor Doom's weakness. Marvel also appears to be pointing toward Wanda's return through something it has recently done, and a crew member has seemingly teased that she could be one of the witches who follow Doom. I think that would make sense at this point.

Below I go through the new report, the Disney Plus change, the stunt double's post, the post credit scene rumors and what Jonathan Hickman's involvement reportedly looks like.

The No More Mutants scoop claims Strange and Wanda know Doom's weakness

The first report comes from the account No More Mutants, which labels it a scoop. It says: "Strange and Wanda are aware of Doom's weakness in Avengers Secret Wars. Victor Von Doom cannot sustain all the power he has stolen." I find that very interesting, and I think it's very telling for Avengers: Doomsday too.

The report goes on to claim that Sentry is being used to contain the entirety of God Doom's power, acting as a stabilizer for Battleworld. According to the account, this is why there are glitches in the world and why some people still have memories. The last part I found especially interesting: "Loki is the only character capable of containing all of Doom's power."

Sentry as Battleworld's battery fits a leaked Secret Wars photo

The idea of Sentry stabilizing Battleworld lines up with something we may already have seen. Among the leaked photos from Avengers: Secret Wars, which are legitimate, there was one picture that people debated. Some said it was Steve Rogers, some said Sentry, others the Human Torch. After reading this report, I think it makes sense for it to be Sentry.

Sentry has immense power, and with the Void, who knows how much. Using that to power Battleworld makes sense, because in the comics Doctor Doom uses Johnny Storm to make the sun. It's a punishment. In Secret Wars in the comics, Sue is married to Doom, and when Johnny tried to defy Doom, the two of them decided he had to be punished and turned him into the sun.

So having Sentry serve as the power source would be a twist on that. Maybe some variant of Johnny Storm does get turned into the sun in Doomsday, I don't know, but having Sentry act as a battery makes a lot of sense as well.

Glitches, Loki and a single Marvel universe

The glitches happening because Doom's power can't hold everything together also makes sense to me. Powering an entire world you conjured up would need constant, consistent energy.

I like the idea of Loki being the only character capable of containing all of that power, because it works well with everything Marvel has set up for Loki so far. I think it would also mean that by the end there's only one universe, which seems to be Marvel Studios' plan.

That single universe would hold the X-Men, the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the Eternals, the Midnight Sons, the Inhumans and anything else. Marvel could finally have its own universe to play in, without confusing people or having to untangle other universes.

Disney Plus swapped its Multiverse of Madness background for Doom's stained glass

Something has recently changed on Disney Plus, and I checked it myself on my phone. On the mobile app, Disney Plus has replaced the background that was used for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness with the stained glass imagery for Doctor Doom. I have not seen this on the web version, only on mobile.

I looked, and they haven't done that for anything else. Some of the films on the road to Doomsday have green outlines on the left and right, but nothing else has been changed the way this has. I think the stained glass is very telling.

We've been hearing reports about the witches following Doctor Doom. The male one, with a circle where the third eye should be, is reportedly Doctor Strange. Of the others, I think one is probably the Scarlet Witch, and I think this change is a hint toward that. Otherwise, why do it?

Elizabeth Olsen's stunt double shared the Latverian witches poster

On top of that, Elizabeth Olsen's stunt double for the Scarlet Witch shared the new Avengers: Doomsday poster featuring the Latverian witches to her Instagram story. Why share that specific one? Maybe because she was doing stunt work for the Scarlet Witch.

We've also heard that some stunt doubles may not even have been doing stunts, but standing in for actors and actresses because of scheduling conflicts. If it's a witch wearing a mask the entire time, then technically it doesn't have to be Elizabeth Olsen under there until the reveal that it's the Scarlet Witch and her face is needed. So there are many things pointing toward Wanda's return in Avengers: Doomsday.

A Scarlet Witch post credit scene is reportedly coming in Doomsday

Avengers: Secret Wars is where I think things will ramp up, or at least where we'll get the full story. According to James Mack, Avengers: Doomsday will reportedly have a post credit scene featuring the Scarlet Witch. Many other insiders have also said they've heard that one of the post credit scenes will feature Wanda.

What we know is still vague, but from what we know, Wanda is in the possession of Doctor Doom. If she's one of his witches, one of his followers, it makes sense that she would be in his possession in Avengers: Secret Wars.

Why I think Wanda is the key to awakening everyone in Secret Wars

I've been saying for a while that Wanda will be one of the keys to awakening everybody in Avengers: Secret Wars. Reading between the lines, I think the No More Mutants scoop points to that too: Strange and Wanda know Doom's weakness, and the glitches are why some people still have memories.

Logically and in storytelling terms, I think the characters realize that some people still have memories, and it might not be constant. Rather than someone saying it didn't work on them and they remember everything, maybe people have moments where certain memories come back until they're fully awakened. I think that's where Wanda comes in.

Wanda would have to be awakened herself if her memories have been erased or altered. That's where the Young Avengers come in, including her two children, Billy and Tommy. Vision Quest is setting up her family's reunion in a big way. Vision is with Tommy, and Billy is out looking for Tommy. We assume Billy will show up in at least the last episode of Vision Quest.

It all seems to be leading to a reunion where they search for the Scarlet Witch. In Avengers: Secret Wars, they would have to break into Doom's castle, grab her and somehow awaken her memories, maybe through the power of family or friendship. Then they would use her to fully awaken the people they need so they can fight, and probably do the same at the end.

Doom collecting powers could be his undoing

I think it's interesting that this might be Doctor Doom's weakness. The idea is that he created everything by taking powers from people, which I don't doubt. I'd say that's been widely hinted at by things Marvel was setting up in the Multiverse Saga, even though we went from Kang to Doom.

It seems like Doom wants Franklin's powers. It seems like he might want the powers of Love, Thor's daughter, since she essentially got them from Eternity. He seems to be collecting people to do very specific things, then he creates Battleworld, and it's all on him without enough power to hold it. That's not how the comics go, so we'll have to see what the actual spin is.

Jonathan Hickman has reportedly been consulting on Doomsday and Secret Wars

We did hear that Jonathan Hickman, who wrote Secret Wars, has been consulting on Doomsday and Secret Wars, which I think is fantastic. He reportedly said he's been reading the scripts for roughly two and a half years and has followed Doomsday's evolution throughout its development.

He has reportedly seen work in progress and observed scenes at different stages of production, including material before visual effects were added, and he has visited the set. He described the experience enthusiastically, although he obviously couldn't discuss what he saw.

His run of Secret Wars is amazing, and it's the story Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are based on. Consulting with him is another sign they're doing it right and that it's in good hands. We know it won't be a page for page adaptation, and they're going to make some cool changes. I can't wait to see what they come up with.
