Avengers Doomsday Leak Claims Two Major Character Deaths Will "Hurt a Lot"

A fresh Avengers Doomsday leak claims two Avengers are going to die before the film ends, and according to the report, it is going to hurt more than Tony Stark's death did. As one leak account puts it, "I have heard two Avengers are going to die in Avengers Doomsday and it's going to hurt a lot. If you suffered with Iron Man, with Iron Man's death, this will reportedly be worse."

This comes from a plot leak circulating online, sourced to murphysmultiverse.com under the title "leaked Avengers Doomsday plot points tease a battle of heavy hitters, a major legacy death, and a shocking Steve Rogers twist." It covers the ending of Doomsday and the beginning of Secret Wars, so this is a full spoiler warning before going any further. I want to be clear up front that none of this is confirmed, and some of it is already being disputed elsewhere, so take it with a grain of salt as I go through it.

The siege of Latveria reportedly brings Deadpool, Spider-Man and Captain Marvel together

According to the leak, the third act centers on the Multiverse's Mightiest Heroes uniting for an all out assault on Latveria against Victor Von Doom's endless army of Doombots. The battle allegedly brings unexpected team ups, including Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool fighting alongside Tom Holland's Spider-Man and Captain Marvel, plus a clash between an unspecified Hulk variant and the Thing.

That Spider-Man detail stands out to me because most of what I had heard suggested Tom Holland's Spider-Man was not going to be in this film. But there have been recent reshoots, and we have also heard that Scarlet Witch has filmed a lot of scenes and has reportedly been spotted near the set for Secret Wars, so it is possible Holland was brought in during those same reshoots. I have not heard any news about Captain Marvel before this leak either, so she could be part of those additions as well.

As for the Hulk variant versus the Thing, I have heard a lot of different reports on this one, some saying it is true and some saying it is not. Of everything in this leak, that might be the least believable part to me. The war is said to end in tragedy before the multiverse collapses, and the leak claims that to cement Doctor Doom's villainy, he executes Bucky Barnes in cold blood, described as an emotional gut punch on par with Loki's death in Avengers: Infinity War.

Bucky Barnes and Shuri are reportedly the two Avengers who die

A separate account, No More Mutants, posted the line about two Avengers dying and it hurting worse than Iron Man's death. Between that post and the murphysmultiverse leak, the two characters being pointed to are Bucky and Shuri. Both of those deaths actually make sense to me given where the MCU seems to be heading.

Kevin Feige has said Marvel Studios will eventually recast Iron Man and Captain America, and I would imagine you would want a Bucky alongside a new Captain America, so killing off Bucky now would clear the way for that. The same logic applies to Shuri. Marvel has already announced a new Black Panther, and it does not look like a T'Challa variant but T'Challa Jr., which would make Shuri his aunt. Having the current Black Panther die so a new one can take the mantle also makes sense to me.

Bucky's reported death is tied to reuniting the Avengers with the Thunderbolts

No More Mutants also says this will be one of Bucky's best performances with the Avengers, not only because of the emotional ending but because of his attempt to unite the Avengers with the Thunderbolts. There is already a divide between the Thunderbolts and the New Avengers, essentially a copyright war between the two names, and Bucky is on the Thunderbolts/New Avengers with a Z. He also has a long history with Sam Wilson, having bonded with him over Steve Rogers before.

The leak also connects Bucky's death to Sam and Yelena, and this part is pure speculation on my part: I think Bucky sacrifices himself to save them both. That would be an easy rallying point for both teams, along the lines of Bucky dying so they would not have to fight each other. Given that Sebastian Stan has played Bucky since the first Captain America film, and Shuri has been part of the MCU since Black Panther, watching either of them die is going to be difficult, even though I do expect a lot of characters to die in Doomsday before Doom eventually resurrects some of them on Battleworld.

Doctor Doom allegedly builds Battleworld and installs a Thor Corps under his rule

The next part of the leak is titled Captain Hydra, Thor Corps and Battleworld setup. Using a combination of magic, artifacts and Franklin Richards' power cosmic, Doctor Strange, who is said to be working for Doom, reportedly uses the multiversal collapse to construct Battleworld, with Doom sitting on a throne overlooking the hollowed out remains of Avengers Tower and the Baxter Building. To police his new patchwork realm, Doom reportedly resurrects dozens of characters and bends them to his will, which strikes me as a very Doom thing to do given how petty and jealous a character he is.

The leak describes a Thor Corps, a military police force made up of Thor variants, with Namor serving alongside them as one of Doom's high ranking lieutenants. That lines up with what happens in the Secret Wars comics, so it would not surprise me if the film does the same. The reason I personally want this to happen is that it could finally bring Beta Ray Bill into the MCU, something I know a lot of fans want as well.

In a direct nod to the 2015 Secret Wars comics, the leak claims Sue Storm, Franklin Richards and Valeria Richards are installed as Victor Von Doom's personal family, which is exactly what Doom does to Reed Richards' family in the comics. We have already seen leaked concept art for Secret Wars confirming this part, and there have also been a lot of rumors, though unconfirmed, about Valeria Richards being in the film.

Chris Evans' Steve Rogers is reportedly brainwashed into becoming Captain Hydra

The biggest reveal in this leak is that Chris Evans' Steve Rogers is reportedly transformed into a brainwashed, loyal Captain Hydra enforcer serving at Doom's right hand. Based on everything we know so far about Doomsday, it is clear Doom hates Steve Rogers because Rogers going back in time at the end of Endgame sets off a chain of events, with Loki bringing him to the Fantastic Four's universe and starting an incursion. From what we understand, Doom tries to stop that incursion and it goes wrong, killing his family, which is why he hates Rogers.

We still do not know a lot of specifics about Doom's backstory, his wife or his son, and I think the film is going to dive into some of that. What is clear is that Doom is not simply going to kill Steve Rogers outright, because in Doom's mind that would not be enough suffering. Forcing him to serve as his enforcer instead is, to me, a very Doom thing to do.

Doctor Doom is already known to win by the end of this story, but the question is what happens with a brainwashed Steve Rogers heading into Secret Wars. From what I am hearing, it might be Deadpool and Wolverine, among others, who end up saving him, which I think would be a fun beat to see play out.
