Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Rumored for October 23 as Sebastian Stan Teases Deaths
A rumored trailer description, a hint at heartbreak from the Bucky actor, and a report that Boris has been cut from the film
A new Avengers: Doomsday trailer is reportedly being prepped right now, and one rumored date going around is October 23, though that isn't confirmed. On top of that, Sebastian Stan has teased deaths in the movie, and a new report claims an important character has been removed from the film, but that might not be all that it seems.
A new Avengers: Doomsday trailer is reportedly being prepped for theaters
There's a lot of talk online right now from a lot of different people, not just in the US but overseas as well, including in some Latin American countries. What we're hearing is that a new trailer is basically being prepped to get sent out to theaters so they can show it there, and of course it's going to be released online as well.
There's a date being thrown around, but we have to take it as a rumor right now because it's not confirmed. October 23rd might be a date to look at. We've heard before from many different reliable insiders that about two months from the movie coming out, we'd get a final trailer.
I put "final" in air quotes, though, because Marvel likes to do a lot of different clips and special looks. It might be deemed the final trailer, but it really won't be. We're going to see a lot more from this movie even after it, unless Marvel decides to switch up their marketing. Since this is Avengers: Doomsday and the first Avengers movie in a long time, they'll probably go even bigger. I just hope they don't reveal too much.
The rumored description promises Mr. Fantastic, the Human Torch and more of Doom's power
There's also a description going around online of what might be in this trailer. Take it with a grain of salt, because this obviously isn't confirmed. Going by what it says, it doesn't look like they'll reveal too much, but it does seem like they're going to set the tone.
According to this description, the next trailer should give us big scenes of Mr. Fantastic and the Human Torch, Doom doing some kind of massive blast, a scene with Loki staring in fear, and Doom angrily walking through his castle. It sounds like we're getting a lot more of Doom's powers, and there should be some pretty cool scenes between the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom.
Why I think the Human Torch is protecting Franklin Richards
We've already seen action figures of a big fight between the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom, but the Human Torch wasn't there. Some people think that might be because he died, but I think he's just taking care of Franklin Richards. There's also been a Funko Pop of Doom with Franklin, so I think clearly Doom is after Franklin, and I think Uncle Johnny is protecting him. Plus, there's the scene in the trailer where Johnny is holding Franklin.
That might be the end of everything, with the universe being destroyed. Who knows? Maybe Doom grabs him before. Maybe Franklin shields them somehow. Or maybe they just get resurrected on Battleworld. We'll have to wait and see.
The rumored tone: Infinity War style music with a darker Doom horror feel
The next thing the description mentions is epic music similar to Infinity War, but with a darker, horror like Doom vibe. It's described as very intense, like the world is about to end. And it is. Their world is about to end, multiple worlds are about to end, the entire multiverse is about to end. I would actually say life as everybody knows it is about to end until there's only Doom left.
He'll be the only person, and I don't know, maybe they throw in somebody like the Watcher, who's outside of space and time, or maybe some cosmic entities. But I think what probably happens is that at the end it's literally just Doom, and he resurrects everybody when he builds Battleworld. That's dark, because everyone technically would die if that happens, and we're all like 99% sure it's going to. So horror like Doom vibes in his castle make sense.
Thor, Boris, the witches, Cyclops and Magneto are all reportedly in the mix
The description also mentions more of the Thor versus Doom fight, which I really like. Boris and the three witches are in it too. Marvel has teased these witches a lot, and they've been at many Comic-Cons at this point, so it makes sense that they'd be in it.
Then there's Cyclops going all out and trying to blast Doom. I like this, because it's something that actually happens in Secret Wars. There, Doom ends up killing Cyclops. I really hope that isn't the case for Avengers: Doomsday, and I really hope Cyclops lives. We've already seen him take the visor off and go crazy, so maybe that's him blasting Doctor Doom and we just get a little more of that scene. The description also says we're going to see Magneto in action.
Steve Rogers and Doom may start out as allies
The description says we'll see Steve Rogers having dialogue with Doctor Doom, and I'm really curious to see how that plays out. I'm also curious whether reports we've heard before are true. According to those, before Doctor Doom and Mr. Fantastic leave the Fantastic Four's world, 828, they search for an anomaly and find Steve Rogers.
So Doom and Steve should be, let's just say, allies in the beginning, because Steve goes with Doom and the Fantastic Four, and maybe there's some dialogue on the ship then. In the beginning, Steve is going to believe that Doom is good and that the Fantastic Four are good. The Fantastic Four are good, but of course Doom isn't.
But Loki came to Steve, and I think he'll basically explain what's going on. So Steve will basically know he's not supposed to be here, that things are messing up, that maybe he did do something wrong, and that maybe this Doom guy has a point and is telling the truth, because Loki has already said staying back in time kind of messed things up. We'll wait and see.
That's the rumor going around online right now, and I like it because I don't think it reveals too much. A little more of Doom's powers is fine. We've already seen part of Thor and Doom fighting, so a little more of that would be okay. It doesn't really give any big plot details away, which I think is what Marvel Studios wants. What they want to show is that this is going to be a different movie, a darker movie, that Doom is not somebody to be messed with, and that the Avengers probably don't have a chance.
Sebastian Stan teases deaths, and I think he may mean Bucky
Speaking of tone, Sebastian Stan, who of course plays Bucky, teased a little about what fans can expect from Avengers: Doomsday, and it teases deaths. He says he hasn't seen the movie and doesn't know how it turned out, but that it's "going to probably be heartbreaking in a lot of ways. We'll see who makes it to the next level." In other words, we'll see who's done after Avengers: Doomsday and who makes it on to Avengers: Secret Wars.
The crazy thing is, I think he might be the character people think is most likely to die. Out of all the characters, rumors and reports, I think people really believe Bucky is going to die. And it is sad. He's a great character, and he's been in the MCU forever, really right from the beginning. Reportedly, if he does die, the rumors say he's going to go out in a pretty heroic way. He's also jumping over to DC, and we know not everyone is going to survive.
It looks like he might be teasing his own character, especially if he doesn't know all of the scenes. He can't come out and say it's heartbreaking because of these specific deaths, but he does say it's probably going to be heartbreaking. To be perfectly honest, I think he's probably talking about his own character dying, but we'll have to wait and see. I know there are going to be multiple deaths in this movie, and he's clearly teasing them. The darker, horror vibe for Doomsday comes with deaths.
Was Boris, and so Doctor Strange, really removed from Avengers: Doomsday?
Last but not least, I know some people are worried about this. There's been a report and a lot of talk online that Doctor Strange has been removed from Avengers: Doomsday. What has really been said is that Boris has been removed, but Boris is Doctor Strange in disguise. In the comics, Boris is an actual character who isn't Doctor Strange; he's kind of Doctor Doom's right hand man. In the MCU, though, it's going to be Doctor Strange.
He's covered in a mask, and Marvel has already revealed it. Behind it is believed to be Doctor Strange, and the circle on it is supposed to be for the third eye he got at the end of Multiverse of Madness. This report came about because official concept art for Doomsday came out, and somebody asked the artist who the character on Doctor Doom's right was. The artist replied, "I don't remember the character's name, but was removed from the film."
So a lot of people took that to mean Boris, and therefore Doctor Strange, isn't in the film. The second I heard this, I thought there's no way. Even though the artist is saying that, to be perfectly honest, I don't think the artist would be privy to that information. I've heard from many insiders that basically he wasn't supposed to release that art, it did get released, and so he's kind of covering up now. We've all seen that character already, so I don't think it's that big of a deal.
One insider states that in Avengers: Doomsday, Boris is always with Doom, appears in multiple scenes, has dialogue with other characters and is part of the film's actual storyline. As that insider puts it, "There's no way they could easily remove him with the movie practically finished." The insider adds that if this had happened months ago, maybe, but that the artist only said it to clear his own name, which I believe is the case as well. Another account replied simply, "Nah, I don't think so."
Why removing Doctor Strange wouldn't make sense to me
He's going to be by Doom's side a lot, and they'd have to do a lot to remove this character. It also wouldn't really make sense to remove him based on what we know. Doctor Strange is following Doctor Doom because the multiverse is collapsing, and he did a lot of things in Multiverse of Madness and before that caused it to happen. Remember that John Krasinski's Reed Richards said the Illuminati found the biggest threat to the multiverse to be Doctor Strange. He doesn't want the multiverse to be destroyed because of him, and he believes Doom is on the right path.
There are also a lot of theories that when Doctor Strange looked forward in time in Infinity War, maybe he saw this as well and knows what he has to do in order to eventually win in Secret Wars, much like how he had to die in Infinity War and let the snap happen for them to win, according to the writers, of course.
So I think this is kind of a cover up, and I don't think it's true at all. I get trying to protect yourself, but Doctor Strange, or Boris, is totally going to be in this movie. Marvel has already shown props and costumes for these witches and characters at Comic-Con, and they're not just going to remove one. So rest easy.
