Avengers: Doomsday ScreenX Shots Reveal Witches Bowing to Doctor Doom

A theatre spot and an expanded trailer format show the Kirby Crackle around Doom, a Young Avengers setup and a red sky that hints at an incursion.

New looks at Avengers: Doomsday have arrived, and the biggest reveal is Doctor Doom surrounded by witches who bow to him. The expanded ScreenX version of the trailer shows it clearly, alongside a Young Avengers setup and a blood red sky that I think points to an incursion.

The Silence Your Phone Spot Puts the Kirby Crackle Around Doctor Doom

Marvel released a Silence Your Phone spot. It is not really a trailer. It played in theatres before Avengers: Endgame Encore, and it shows the cast of Avengers: Doomsday sitting in a theatre crowd when someone's phone goes off and everyone reacts. Before it cuts to the Avengers in the crowd, though, it plays a slight bit of the Doomsday trailer, and in that moment we get what is called the Kirby Crackle.

Comic book fans probably know what that is, and even if you are not too versed in comics, you have probably seen it in some pretty epic comic strips. It is the glowing energy around a character, the circles crackling around that energy. You can see they are doing this in the movie, putting it around Doctor Doom. Kirby is obviously a legend when it comes to comics, and the fact that they are doing this in live action is just absolutely incredible to me.

Doom's suit is phenomenal too. The detail that has gone into it, from the chest plate to the emblems to everything on the arm to the belt, and now the Kirby Crackle, is pretty impressive. "I actually really really really love it." I think it is a great tribute to Jack Kirby, and I am going to be so excited to see that in live action.

There is really no new look at the Avengers themselves in this spot; it is just them in the audience. I will say that the Cyclops suit looks really good, and I love getting a better look at it. Most of the cast got slight variations of their outfits and uniforms, and I think it looks pretty cool.

ScreenX Reveals Witches Bowing to Doctor Doom

The same Doomsday trailer in the bigger ScreenX format actually revealed a lot more about the film. In one scene you can see Doctor Doom in what seems to be his castle, or maybe a base he takes with him wherever he goes. We do not know which. It does seem to be the thing he jumps out of in the X-Men universe, where the glass seemingly breaks.

Inside, there are witches bowing to him. On the left you can see two witches wearing gold masks, and there are more witches behind him as well. Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus pointed this out: "So there's not one but two witches bowing to him on the left." He added that they are not wearing the masks displayed at SDCC but golden variations of the mask that one leaked individual had, and that at least two more witches can be seen behind Doom. So Doom has a following of witches, which is something we have been talking about for a while.

Doctor Strange Is Reportedly One of Doom's Witches, While the Rest Remain Unconfirmed

At this point we do not really know exactly who these witches are. One of them, according to insiders, is Doctor Strange under the code name Boris. Boris is a real character in the comics, somebody who looks after Doom and ends up on his side, with Doom of course ruling over Latveria. We think Boris is just a code name for Doctor Strange, because that is what the insiders have said, and having Strange beside Doom makes sense to me.

As for the other witches following him, we have heard a lot of different reports, and it is hard to get any real confirmation. We have heard Wanda could be one of them. We have heard Sylvie, Clea, Death and Agatha Harkness. None of it is confirmed. They could be pretty big cameos, or they could be nothing. We are unsure.

What is certain is that Doom has a very powerful group of people who literally bow to him. Think about how crazy it would be if Death were there bowing to Doctor Doom. Even Sylvie, even Doctor Strange: these incredibly powerful people are bowing to him. He is their leader, and they are following him.

I Believe Doctor Doom Is Behind the Collapse of the Multiverse

What Doom is on the path to is the destruction of the multiverse. We learned a lot from the post credits scene for Avengers: Endgame with the TVA, where the multiverse falls apart all at once. I think that is a big detail we need to pay attention to. The individual timelines are not dying over a year's span or spread out. The TVA counts 20, then 100, then 300, then 3,000, with all those universes dying basically at once within the span of a minute, until only three are left: our universe 616, the X-Men universe and the Fantastic Four's universe.

I believe Doctor Doom is behind that. It is called Doomsday after all, and he is the villain. I think that is why Reed Richards grabs him and says, "Victor, did you do this?" I think it is revealed that Doom is the one causing the destruction of the multiverse so he can build it the way he wants, and he is going to believe that he is the hero. Kevin Feige has already said that Doom believes he is the hero and the only person who can save the multiverse, but that means doing it his way.

A ScreenX Shot Puts Scott and Cassie Lang in Kate Bishop's Apartment

Another ScreenX shot shows Scott Lang in Kate Bishop's apartment with Cassie Lang. This is a Young Avengers setup for sure. In Daredevil: Born Again, we heard that Kamala Khan, Ms. Marvel, was visiting a friend in California. That friend is going to be Cassie Lang, because at the end of The Marvels, Kamala got together with Kate Bishop and talked about Ant-Man's daughter.

So they go over to the West Coast, meet Ant-Man and his daughter, and are now back in New York at Kate Bishop's apartment. We can assume Kate and probably Kamala are there as well, since we have heard that the Young Avengers are going to play a decent sized role, especially at the end of Avengers: Doomsday. It is pretty much a confirmation that Kate Bishop will be in the film, and I know a lot of people are going to be excited about that, because some are really looking forward to seeing her and the Young Avengers again.

Keep in mind that Kate Bishop has met Yelena Belova, who is going to be one of the main characters of Avengers: Doomsday. Everything is really starting to connect here.

A Blood Red Sky Over Thor and Doom Suggests the X-Men Universe May Not Survive

Last but not least is a reveal I really love. In the scene where Thor is jumping at Doctor Doom, about to fight him, the sky is completely red. That seems to tell us an incursion is happening, and I am not sure the X-Men universe is going to make it out. In the special look, we see all of the X-Men at the Baxter Building. The X-Mansion most likely gets destroyed by the Sentinels, so maybe they go to the Baxter Building in the other universe because they have no other place to meet and talk. We have also been hearing rumours that when Doom and everybody else leave, they basically have to escape because the X-Men universe gets destroyed.

Is it about to collide with another universe? Who knows. It could be about to collide with the Fantastic Four universe or universe 616, and they decide to kill the X-Men universe. Or it could be another universe, and they cannot stop the incursion because they were fighting Doctor Doom and did not have time. We do not know yet. But with the sky blood red and the X-Men meeting in the Baxter Building in the Fantastic Four's universe, I think it might mean the X-Men universe gets destroyed.

Ultimately, at the end, all the universes are going to be destroyed and Doctor Doom is going to create Battleworld, so in a sense it does not really matter. It will still be sad to see that universe go, along with Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man universe, Andrew Garfield's, and the other universes from properties outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I would say it will be sad to see most of them destroyed, though I think some fans will be okay with a few of them.

I love each of these reveals, but I especially love the witches bowing before Doom. It shows that we are really going to get God Emperor Doom in Avengers: Secret Wars, and possibly at the end of Avengers: Doomsday, which is what I think is going to happen.

Do you think Doom is the one tearing the multiverse apart, and who do you want to see among the witches bowing to him?
