Avengers: Doomsday Promos Reveal a Royal Lord Doom Suit and a Doctor Doom With Franklin Funko Pop
A Latverian flag suit, a telling Franklin Richards collectible, a Sentinel battle image and a 10 hour Loki ambience piece all point to what Avengers: Doomsday may be building toward
Marvel just dropped a lot of new promos for Avengers: Doomsday, and the biggest reveals are a brand new suit for Doctor Doom and a Funko Pop literally titled Dr. Doom with Franklin. Some of these promos give us pretty big reveals, and some of them just look pretty cool, showing the Avengers, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men all together, with the promos literally stating that worlds are colliding.
There are popcorn buckets and Funkos in the mix, along with the looks at Doom we've been seeing, but some of them are pretty big reveals.
The Lord Doom suit puts the Latverian flag on Doctor Doom's chest
We have a new suit for Doctor Doom, and it's called Lord Doom. We've actually heard that Doom will be rocking four suits in Avengers: Doomsday. There were many reports in the past saying he'd have three or four suits, and we've seen three at this point. This one is a step above what we were kind of calling politician Doom, or what some people were calling Doom's ruler suit, the one revealed in the last trailer. Then there's what everybody's basically calling the combat suit, which looks really cool as well.
But this goes above and beyond the others. This is Lord Doom with the Latverian flag literally on his chest, so this is definitely Doom as the ruler of his nation. I would say it's probably his highest royal outfit that will be seen here. This is what I actually imagine Doctor Doom would wear if he showed up to something like a world assembly for the Future Foundation. It's very regal and very royal, and I think it looks awesome. I can't wait to see him in it on screen.
The other suit we might be seeing in Avengers: Doomsday could be the all white suit from the Secret Wars comic, which they would probably just show us at the end of the movie as Doom wins and becomes ruler of the world. This one is the ruler of Latveria suit, obviously, because of the flag. I wouldn't be surprised if he decides to upgrade his outfit one more time once he becomes ruler of everything, the only universe left.
The Dr. Doom with Franklin Funko Pop suggests Doom gets Franklin Richards
This one's actually a pretty big reveal. We have a Funko Pop literally titled Dr. Doom with Franklin. Franklin Richards is the son of Reed Richards and Sue Storm, the son who brought his mother back to life in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Keep in mind, he's incredibly powerful. In the comics he has a whole slew of powers, and he's one of the strongest characters to ever exist in Marvel history. He can create pocket dimensions, and he did that as an infant. He's just a baby creating pocket dimensions.
In the 2015 Secret Wars, at the very end after they defeat Doctor Doom, he literally creates universes that his father maps out and that Molecule Man ties to reality, and that's how they recreate the multiverse through his powers. He also has telepathy and reality warping powers. With that whole power set, you can probably see why Doctor Doom would be very interested in acquiring Franklin Richards. And it seems like he does get him, because we have a Funko Pop with Doom having Franklin by his side, which is really interesting.
We also have the post credits scene for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which shows Doctor Doom with his mask off. That's something Doom doesn't do often once he puts the mask on, and in that scene Franklin is literally touching his face. So clearly they're setting up the importance of Doom with Franklin. Based on how Sue Storm talked about Victor Von Doom in that special look trailer, it seems like he has a good connection with the Fantastic Four. It also seems like he has some sort of rivalry with Reed Richards, with Reed saying, "Victor, did you do this? Answer me, Victor, did you do this?"
Franklin's powers could help Doom build one universe under him
I think this implies a lot. At one point we heard Doctor Doom was collecting people with a lot of different powers and using all of them combined to essentially destroy the entire multiverse and go to the top of it as its ruler, recreating a new universe with all of those powers that is all under him. One universe under Doom. That's when we go into Secret Wars, and we've been hearing a lot of rumors lately that the people who helped him or who were on his side will get a part of that world to rule over under him, all reporting to him.
So I think Franklin Richards' powers are going to come into play here, possibly being used to create this new universe. I wouldn't be surprised if Doctor Strange does a spell along with it, and maybe the Scarlet Witch shows up as well. If Sylvie is one of the witches following Doctor Doom, maybe she shares some knowledge about what Loki did. It's unclear at this point, but clearly Franklin is going to play a pretty big role in Avengers: Doomsday, and I think in Avengers: Secret Wars as well.
We do have the leaked concept art of Doctor Doom sitting on his throne with Sue Storm and Franklin Richards by his side. We've actually heard that in Secret Wars Franklin is going to grow up quite a bit, and we're hearing he'll be somewhere between 8 and around 14. It's a little vague right now, but he has a big role to play, and with his power set it makes sense. This Funko kind of tells us that Doom does end up getting Franklin. Does he use him at the end, or does he take some of his powers? It kind of seems like Doom does that in this movie. We'll have to wait and see.
The Sentinel battle promo might show the final battle, not the first fight
Another really cool promo shows the Sentinel battle. I really love this one, but I don't think it's entirely accurate. There are a lot of cool characters in it, but I don't think Johnny Storm is in this battle against the Sentinels. I don't think Ant-Man is, and I don't think Shuri, who we can see there as Black Panther, is fighting these Sentinels either. At least not when the Avengers and the Fantastic Four originally go to the X-Men universe and meet them for the first time.
I do think that after Doom raises the Sentinels to fight everybody, the X-Men universe gets destroyed, and Doom takes some Sentinels with him. In the final battle, I think he uses those Sentinels again along with some Doombots to fight everyone, and that's what we might actually be seeing here. This would probably take place in Latveria as well.
There's not a lot of background, so you can't really see where they are. It just seems like they're on concrete somewhere, but this could be a castle. It doesn't look like the X-Mansion, although the X-Mansion is kind of castle like. I'm talking about a big, grand Latverian castle that Doctor Doom is going to be in, which we've been teased with a little in the trailer. If this is the X-Men, Avengers and Fantastic Four fighting the Sentinels for the first time, some of those characters aren't going to be there. If it's at the end, it makes sense.
Marvel's 10 hour Loki ambience piece could point to new TVA scenes
The concept of this next one is wild. Marvel dropped a 10 hour long ambience piece of Loki on his throne, built around Loki becoming the God of Stories. It's literally just an image of him on his throne holding all of these branches. He's holding everything together right now, and you can see how the tree forms behind him. It's really cool, and it's just some nice soothing noises you can put on and maybe fall asleep to.
But it's a promo for Avengers: Doomsday that I think does mean something, because it looks like they just shot new scenes with Loki in the TVA. Loki's role is going to be incredibly important for Doomsday, even if he doesn't have a ton of screen time, though I really hope he does. We just heard they shot more scenes with him, which is great.
We got one new scene with him in the encore footage, and then we got a TVA scene without Loki, but it obviously is going to tie into him. A lot of people think Loki could be killed, or fighting Doom at that moment, and that's why a lot of these universes are dying. We'll have to wait and see.
Cinemark's Doom popcorn buckets arrive as presales reportedly hit 100 million dollars
Then we have some popcorn buckets. A lot of people, including myself, really love the popcorn buckets and the other items that come out with the concessions. Cinemark has some here, and they're really premium. There's one with the Doom head and the hood, which I think is really cool, and the drink cup is literally Doom on his throne, which I think looks awesome. There's also another popcorn bucket that's just a steel tub. I love that they go all out for these. I definitely have to get that cup, and if I'm being honest, I'm going to get them all. I usually get the popcorn buckets when they come out.
And it's Avengers: Doomsday. It's probably going to be the biggest movie of all time, to be honest, because right now Avengers: Doomsday has hit 100 million dollars in worldwide presales, more than two months before its release. This is on track to be the biggest movie of all time.
Even Dunkin is doing a Doom item for some of its promos, and I think it looks really wild. There are other Funko Pop reveals too, all characters we've seen before, but they all look really cool. Marvel said last week that promos are coming through Hot Toys, Funko Pops and more, and they're going to ramp this up as we get closer to Avengers: Doomsday.
Which of these Avengers: Doomsday promos would you most want to get your hands on?
