Uncharted 5 Is Reportedly Naughty Dog's Next Game After Intergalactic, but Nathan Drake's Role Is Still a Mystery

Uncharted 5 is happening, and it is not a remake. According to MP1st, Naughty Dog is building a brand new Uncharted game, and it is the studio's next project after Intergalactic, which would put it ahead of The Last of Us Part 3.

One detail about Nathan Drake, though, has people divided, and I will get to that below.

MP1st's Uncharted report was backed up by insider NateTheHate

MP1st's sources say Naughty Dog is working on a new Uncharted game, and insider NateTheHate backed it up, saying: "Yes, a new Uncharted is what I was referring to." As I put it, "So yeah, it's official." That means that 10 years after Uncharted 4, we are getting a new Uncharted game that is not just another remake.

The Lost Legacy's director is reportedly leading the new Uncharted

The game is being directed by the person who directed Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. In my opinion, this sounds pretty good, because I thought Lost Legacy was pretty underrated. He also led Marvel's Avengers, which is a little more of a mixed bag.

Nathan Drake is in the game, but nobody knows how big his role is

Nathan Drake is in the game in some form, but nobody knows yet if he is the protagonist, a side character, or just a cameo. Uncharted 4 ended with an older Nate who has a daughter, Cassie. I think the obvious choice is that Cassie leads the next game, with Nate serving as a mentor.

There are a lot of hesitations with that, though, because an Uncharted game without Nathan Drake at the helm just does not seem like an Uncharted game.

Don't expect an Uncharted 5 reveal soon while Intergalactic comes first

When it comes to a reveal, I would not expect it anytime soon. Naughty Dog is currently focused on Intergalactic. Plans could change, but realistically the studio is going to focus on that game for the foreseeable future.

So should Nathan Drake be the lead again, or is it time to pass the torch to Cassie?
