The Top 10 Weapons in Gaming, as Picked by Fans on Twitter
From the Gravity Gun to the Ray Gun, a community vote on Twitter ranked the top 10 weapons in gaming
I asked people on Twitter to name the best weapons in all of gaming, and the community crowned the Ray Gun from World at War, Black Ops and Black Ops 2 as number one. This was a community driven top 10, so I put the list in order by the number of tweets I received for each weapon.
Here is how the list came together, from number 10 down to the top spot.
Number 10: the Gravity Gun from Half-Life made the cut as a memorable gun
At number 10, one Twitter user suggested the Gravity Gun from Half-Life, saying it is a very memorable gun. If you have not played Half-Life, you need to get that game as soon as possible.
The gun's actual name is the Zero Point Energy Field Manipulator. It is a tractor beam type weapon that was originally designed for handling hazardous materials.
Number 9: Dead Rising 2's Boomstick is the most creative weapon I have seen
Chase on Twitter put forward the Boomstick from Dead Rising 2 for the number 9 spot, calling it a straight fun weapon to use. For me, this is easily the most creative weapon I have seen in gaming.
It is a combo weapon created by combining a pitchfork and a shotgun. If your aim is terrible, you can stab a zombie with the pitchfork to keep it from moving, then finish it off with the shotgun.
Number 8: Saints Row The Third's Penetrator is a hilarious melee weapon
At number 8, another Twitter user said it had to be The Penetrator from Saints Row The Third, because it is just so fun to run around with it and take people out. I can cosign that statement: "50/10 would use again."
The Penetrator is a melee weapon built from a long novelty adult toy attached to the handle of a baseball bat. It is such a hilarious weapon to use.
Number 7: Fallout's Fat Man is heavy but worth the weight
A Twitter user suggested the one and only Fat Man from Fallout for number 7, saying it is so fun to use. The Fat Man is a shoulder mounted tactical nuclear catapult.
The only downside is how heavy it is, especially when you are playing on Hardcore. The weight is well worth it, though, because of how powerful it is.
Number 6: the AK-47 in CS:GO turns into a beast once you master the recoil
At number 6, a Twitter user picked the AK-47 in CS:GO. This has to be one of the hardest weapons to control out of any I have used. Once you practice the recoil, though, it turns into "a straight up beast."
Number 5: Halo's Energy Sword is a beast in the right hands
The same Twitter user also suggested the Energy Sword from Halo, which landed at number 5 to open the top five. I am not much of a Halo player, but from what I have seen, this weapon is a beast if you know how to use it.
Number 4: the ACR from Modern Warfare 2 earned its place by being reliable
The number 4 spot came from SJ_4821 on Twitter, who chose the ACR from Modern Warfare 2 and said "this thing was a laser before the EM1 Quantum!"
The ACR definitely deserves to be on this list because it is such a reliable gun to use. I used to be able to consistently put together good gameplay with the ACR.
Number 3: the Battle Rifle is called the staple of the Halo series
At number 3, a Twitter user suggested the Battle Rifle from Halo 2 and 3, arguing that the gun is the staple of the Halo series and needs to be on this list.
Number 2: Destiny's Gjallarhorn was neck and neck with the winner
The number 2 spot was neck and neck with number one. Kevin on Twitter said it had to be the Gjallarhorn from Destiny, calling it one of the most sought after guns. I did not play Destiny very much, but according to the tweets I received, it had to take the number 2 spot.
Number 1: the Ray Gun is the go to zombie killing weapon
The top pick was practically a no brainer because of how many times it was suggested. The number one weapon in all of gaming, as picked on Twitter, is the Ray Gun from World at War, Black Ops and Black Ops 2.
Lukas on Twitter said the gun is so sweet and strong, and I think we can all agree it is our go to zombie killing weapon.
If you think this list is completely wrong, what would your own top 10 weapons in gaming be?
