The 11 Call of Duty Guns Even I Struggled to Remember
From Advanced Warfare's SN6 to World War II's M267, these are the weapons that slipped out of memory, whether from boring names, quiet late DLC drops, or simply better guns stealing the spotlight.
I know everything important there is to know about Call of Duty, and I searched the depths of the archives to dig up 11 guns I am almost certain most of you completely forgot about. If you did not remember the SN6, you are going to have to dig really deep to remember the rest of these.
Number 11: The SN6 in Advanced Warfare might have the most boring name ever given to a gun
Advanced Warfare had some of the craziest weapons Call of Duty has ever seen, because Sledgehammer had the freedom to do whatever they wanted. What they came up with for the SN6 was interesting on paper but forgettable in practice. It was a submachine gun that fired bullets like a normal weapon and looked like a lamer version of the UMP45, probably the most mid SMG in the game.
It did have one neat feature: the first three bullets came out faster than the rest, kind of like the A94 with its hyper burst two bullets. But that was it. Nobody used it, nobody talked about it, you probably saw it online once or twice and that was the extent of it. It did show up in the marketing for the game because of a blue and yellow variant that popped off the screen.
Number 10: The SA805 in Call of Duty Ghosts was strong on paper and still forgotten
Ghost was an interesting game. On one hand you had some of the most iconic and memorable weapons of the early 2010s, the Honeybadger, the MTX, the Chainsaw. On the other hand, everything else in the game got forgotten, and the SA805 is a case in point. On paper this was a strong gun, with a damage profile of 25 to 40 that made it a three to four shot kill, and a fire rate that gave it one of the most consistent, reliable time to kill values in the entire game.
You would think people would use it. Nope. I am not sure why the gun was so forgettable despite the stats, I guess it had something to do with the name being boring, and the fact there were several other guns in the game that were incredible. Nobody was going to stick with a gun that was just pretty good.
Number 9: The SC2010 in Call of Duty Ghosts was accurate but never good enough
Since we are already talking about Ghost ARs nobody remembers, the SC2010 is another instance of a gun that was just pretty good and therefore completely forgotten. It was one of the most accurate guns in that game, but the time to kill just was not enough for everybody. It was fine, but it was not good enough, and there was not really any reason to stick with it if you were unlocking monsters like the Remington R5 and the MSBS, at least the pre-patch MSBS.
It was accurate, it was smooth, but the time to kill was not competitive, and it was very rarely seen online after the first day or two of the game's life cycle, because after that everybody switched over to those beast weapons instead.
Number 8: The TMP in Modern Warfare 2 (2009) gets forgotten despite the game's legacy
It feels weird to put something from the most iconic Call of Duty game of all time on this list, but be honest, how many of you actually remembered the TMP was in the game. It was sharing the machine pistol category with some of the most ridiculous sidearms in gaming history, so I am not blaming you for forgetting it, but you did.
It was a nice, reliable, bouncy machine pistol with a decent damage profile and a decent fire rate, but you were trying to compete with the M93 Raffica, the G18, and even secondary shotguns in the game like the Spas 12 and the AA12. Why would anybody ever take the TMP into battle instead of those? You would not, so most people forgot about it.
It was reskinned as the MP9 in classic Modern Warfare 3, and that is where most people actually remember it from. As for the classic Modern Warfare 2 version, nobody has any memories because there are not any.
Number 7: The GBD79 in Call of Duty WWII arrived too late for anyone to care
What in the world does GBD stand for? I think it stands for you do not remember this gun. It was a DLC assault rifle added to the game in July of 2019 for whatever reason, and it made no impact on the community, partially because it was not very impressive, and partially because it was July 2019 and this game came out in November 2017.
I appreciate the support Sledgehammer gave the game for as long as they did, but I am not really sure what the point of adding this gun was. It was not special, it was not interesting, and all it ever accomplished was landing a spot on this list of the most forgettable guns in Call of Duty history.
Number 6: The QBB LSW in Black Ops 2 has ungodly recoil and nothing to show for it
There are probably a lot of you playing Black Ops 2 right now, and even you most likely do not have anything to say about the QBB. Most of you skip right over it when making a class, and that is okay, because we all did it back in the day too. It is a light machine gun that functions more like a heavy assault rifle, but it also has some of the most ungodly recoil in the entire game, and the time to kill was not that good either.
Black Ops 2 has amazing gun balance for a Call of Duty game, but the QBB always felt like an outlier to me because it was not very strong and the time to kill was not very quick, and the awkward handling did not make up for any of that. It feels like the kind of gun that was supposed to reward you for recoil control or good positioning, but it just did not deliver.
Most people skipped right over it, and even if you are a hardcore completionist, you probably knocked out the camo challenges in hardcore mode and then put the gun down forever. For such a memorable game, this was a pretty unmemorable gun.
Number 5: The Scorpion in Modern Warfare 3 (2011) got buried by machine pistols
Not the Scorpion Evo, the regular Scorpion. Everybody remembers the Scorpion SMG as one of the most recognizable SMGs in the golden age of Call of Duty, even if it was never that good. It is also one of the many weapons from COD 4 that made a comeback in MW3, but you probably forgot about that because literally nobody used it in MW3.
Maybe you forgot because nobody likes the Scorpion, or maybe it is because it landed in the machine pistol category, and instead of full size SMGs, that game was dominated by machine pistols. Nobody was going to pick the Scorpion over the MP9 or the FMG9s. This version of the Scorpion was not even super bad, it was okay, it was decent, but when you are sharing a category with two of the most broken machine pistols in Call of Duty history, you have to be better, otherwise you end up on a list like this.
Number 4: The MR28 in Call of Duty Ghosts may be coming back but nobody seems to care
We keep going back to Call of Duty Ghost, and allegedly this gun is coming back in Modern Warfare 4, though I do not think anybody is actually going to care about that. Nobody cared about it in Ghost, and since nobody cares about Modern Warfare 4 in general, the MR28 is probably going to fade into obscurity again just like it did back in 2013.
It was a semi-auto marksman rifle that usually killed in two shots, sometimes three, and that inconsistency would be annoying in a game with such a fast time to kill. Nobody wants to get instantly melted from long range by someone using an SMG and then get hit markers with a marksman rifle themselves. The lack of consistency killed any appeal it would have had, so in a game where you could get killed by someone sneezing on you, it sat on the bench.
Nobody picked it up. Even if you were an avid Ghost player back in the day, you probably do not remember the MR28, and this is probably the first time you have thought about that gun in 13 years.
Number 3: The KGM21 in Call of Duty WWII is basically a late DLC copy of the BAR
It looks like the BAR, it functions like the BAR, but it is not the BAR. The KGM21 is the DLC weapon that Sledgehammer decided to throw into the game without ceremony a year and a half after Call of Duty WWII launched, and honestly I am not really sure what the point of this one was either.
It was not technically a reskin of the BAR, but it did not do anything to make it feel unique from the BAR either. It really does just seem like the BAR 1.5, and since it was added to the game so late, nobody noticed it.
Number 2: The SWAT RFT in Black Ops 4 made zero impact from the moment it launched
This was one of the first DLC weapons ever added to Black Ops 4, and it made basically zero impact on the community because it did not fill any role in multiplayer. It was just a moderate fire rate assault rifle with decent damage and handling traits, and that was it.
I guess it looked and sounded kind of cool, but it did not actually bring anything unique to the table. Once the novelty of it being a DLC gun wore off, which happened fast, people put it down and went back to using launch weapons. By the time more interesting DLC weapons arrived, everybody had forgotten the SWAT RFT ever existed.
Number 1: The M267 in Call of Duty WWII is the most forgettable gun in the series
Be honest with yourself, your family, your friends, everybody. Without the gun in front of you, you would have no idea what this is, you would not even know what kind of gun it is. This SMG was added to Call of Duty WWII in July of 2019, a year and a half after the game came out, and it was not part of any community event or anything. Sledgehammer just dropped it in the game and expected people to actually remember it. It is wishful thinking, I know.
As for the stats, they are okay, with a pretty low fire rate and a consistent three to four shot kill damage profile, so it was all right. I have to be honest, I am struggling to come up with things to say about it, because even I, the COD historian, forgot this thing existed until I redug through Call of Duty history. And if even the COD historian is forgetting about it, I think that means it is the most forgettable gun in the series.
So how many of these 11 did you actually remember before reading this?
