Avengers: Age of Ultron Won Me Over on My First Time Seeing It, and Clint Barton Finally Grew on Me
A newcomer's verdict on the Avengers sequel, from the farmhouse surprise to Captain America nearly budging Thor's hammer
I loved every single thing about Avengers: Age of Ultron. I'm just starting to get into the Avengers and Marvel, and every time I come back to it the storylines feel stronger and better. I'm really, authentically enjoying it.
Clint Barton finally won me over, and Natasha jumped my list
This was the first time Clint, the arrow guy, actually grew on me. Before, I didn't really care for him. I also love that we found out he has a wife and children. During the phone call scene, I knew he was lying, but I thought he was talking to Nick Fury. It turned out to be his wife, which is adorable. I love that he put his family into hiding for their safety and has this simple life behind closed doors.
My ranking now goes like this. "Iron Man, you're still my number one." Loki is still second, Hulk is third, and Natasha just moved into fourth place. After her come Groot and Captain America. I loved going deeper with Natasha and pairing her with the Hulk. She grew up around fighting, while Bruce has the power to destroy but chooses not to fight. He is the complete opposite of everything she was trained to do. I also loved the moment she talks about running away, kisses him, then says she needs the other guy.
Tony Stark is a total butt head I can't help loving
Tony is arrogant, hilarious and full of heart. Everybody has a problem with him somehow, but he's witty and funny. Mid battle I even said, "THIS GUY'S ALWAYS destroying stuff. I'm not talking about the Hulk. I'm talking about Iron Man." I crave the scenes where he convinces Bruce to join his side.
I also love the bromance between Cap, Thor, Bruce, Tony and Clint, all teasing each other. Thor matches Tony's immaturity, and if I got more of the two of them together, I might move Thor up my list.
Wanda and the hammer moment
Wanda's powers are cool, and I'm wondering if she and the red guy with the cape, who I don't know what to call yet, might have something down the line, since their powers seem kind of similar but very different.
The hammer scene was priceless. Steve made it slightly budge and Thor got scared. I almost wish it lifted more, "Because who else would have been worthy other than Captain America, right? Mr. Righteous himself."
The cameo I completely missed
I'd been told Stan Lee cameos in almost every one of these, and I didn't spot him. Apparently he was the little old guy who got drunk. It was right in my face. I also briefly thought the Flash was part of Marvel, and was told I was completely wrong.
Should that hammer have lifted a little more for Captain America?
