WandaVision's Final Three Episodes Are Beautiful, Heartbreaking and Not Weird to Me
From Monica's powers to the Agatha reveal and the two Visions, the end of the series hit hard and left me wanting more.
I came into the last three episodes of WandaVision (Breaking the Fourth Wall, Previously On and the series finale) not wanting it to end, and I came out of them genuinely sad that it is done. I had heard that some people found the series weird or struggled with it, and I don't see it: to me it was clever, fun, exciting and hard to guess.
Monica Rambeau earned her powers, and I called it
The moment Monica pushed back through the Hex and came out changed gave me the chills. I said the blood thing was going to come into play, and it did. It took me a second to realise who she was when I first saw her mom's picture, so seeing that little girl step into this role as an adult is really cool. She was driven to save the world from day one, and "if anybody deserves these Powers it's definitely her." I think her mom would be extremely proud. I also love that she understands where Wanda is coming from about bringing back loved ones.
The Agatha reveal was a twist, and I would love to have her back
Agnes turning out to be Agatha Harkness all along was a twist, and bringing Sparky into it felt dirty. Still, I liked Agnes, and I love the actress who plays her. I was hoping she would come back in the future, because I think there is room for her to redeem herself from villain to a good guy, and we may need her help.
Wanda's memories and the second Vision
I liked how the show went back through Wanda's memories, starting from her childhood trauma. Vision's line about grief being love persevering was beautifully said. The reveal that they made another Vision was another matter. As I said in the moment, "I don't like where this is going." The ship of Theseus scene in the finale, though, was really cool, and it left me wondering whether Vision is back now that the other Vision recovered his memories, even if he is not the real one.
Growth through pain
By the end everything was dumping on me and I didn't want to cry, but we lost Vision again. He is "the sweetest angel from heaven". The children being gone is sad too, and I was hoping the ending left room for them to return. I do like how Wanda was told she lacks knowledge, and she already started picking that up. You can't grow without hurt: you either run from pain or let it make you better and stronger. I don't think Wanda is necessarily a villain; I think she authentically believed she was protecting those people.
A shout out to the commercial woman too, who cracked me up. After the last few Marvel entries, I felt like I needed this for my soul. It was so loving, and it made me happy until it didn't.
Did the series feel weird to you, or did it land the way it did for me?
