Ryan Reynolds' Anarchy Logo Post Hints At Deadpool's Return in Avengers: Doomsday, and Maybe a Secret Sequel Too

The image echoes a symbol from Deadpool & Wolverine and raises the possibility of another project beyond the Avengers crossover.

Ryan Reynolds posted a picture of the Avengers A logo with a spray painted anarchy A over it, which looks like it is seemingly teasing his return as Deadpool in Avengers: Doomsday.

That anarchy Avengers symbol is actually the same one seen in Deadpool & Wolverine. But the print Reynolds shared looks like it might be on a t-shirt, which has me wondering if this is not a Doomsday tease at all, but a tease for another movie in the pipeline, one I might actually be even more excited for than Deadpool simply showing up in Doomsday.

Why Deadpool and Wolverine being in Avengers: Doomsday feels obvious to me

Everybody seems to be freaking out over this, and I get it, I am right there with them. But I have to be honest, this falls under the duh category for me. "I've been saying for a while that Deadpool and Wolverine are totally going to be in Doomsday," and anytime I've heard people speculate that they won't be in it, I want to hit them with my stupid stick, which I do own.

I have never been able to imagine a scenario where Marvel would not include Deadpool and Wolverine in the first Avengers movie since Endgame, especially since it is also the first Avengers movie since one of the most successful films of this entire saga in Deadpool & Wolverine. I believe that movie came in second only to Spider-Man No Way Home at the box office, and Marvel Studios did not even get the bulk of that film's earnings since it belongs to Sony Pictures.

Deadpool & Wolverine was not only a huge success for Marvel Studios, it also had a great deal to do with the multiverse, the TVA, and Loki, and it even had a Dr. Doom tease. "Deadpool Wolverine is one of the most important movies to this entire saga in terms of what they've been building toward." Excluding the Merc with a Mouth from Doomsday would not make sense monetarily or story wise.

All of the 2000s X-Men are going to be in Doomsday, and it has basically been confirmed that the film will visit Deadpool's Fox X-Men universe, Universe 10005, the same universe Monica Rambeau wound up in at the end of The Marvels. If Doomsday is literally traveling to Deadpool's universe, then of course Deadpool and Wolverine are going to show up. If they do not show up, I will admit I will be a little upset, and I might have to crack out the stupid stick.

The confirmed Avengers: Doomsday cast is already huge, but some heavy hitters are still missing

Doomsday is already stacked with characters, some might even say too many, and the cast announced so far is already plenty to fill out an Avengers movie on its own. But some big names have been left out of the lineup so far, including Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, Hulk, Captain Marvel, Rhodey, and even Monica Rambeau, who is currently at the X Mansion.

It is clear there is more casting for this film still to be announced. Feige has even said that the cast announced so far is just part of the cast. In my opinion, Deadpool and Wolverine are shoo ins for this movie.

Why I don't think Secret Wars is where Deadpool and Wolverine will finally show up

Some argue we should just wait for Secret Wars, since Deadpool and Wolverine can appear there instead. I get that, and we still have "Secret Wars, which will likely be Doomsday on steroids." But I have even heard some suggest that Deadpool and Wolverine will not be in Secret Wars either, arguing that Deadpool & Wolverine was definitely Wolverine's final movie. To that, I say stupid stick again.

Secret Wars is a movie where I expect to see the return of characters like Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, Nicolas Cage as Ghost Rider, and most definitely Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, who I actually think will be in Doomsday as well. But Deadpool and Wolverine have been part of the big lead up to Doomsday, and it just would not make sense for them not to be involved in that story.

How Deadpool and Wolverine could work inside a PG-13 Avengers movie

Some will ask how you do Deadpool and Wolverine in an Avengers movie without neutering them, alluding to the fact that an Avengers film carries a PG-13 rating rather than an R rating. But despite being spoiled by Logan and Deadpool & Wolverine, Wolverine was in nothing but PG-13 movies before those two. As for Deadpool, he breaks the fourth wall, which means in universe we could see him decide to censor himself because he knows kids are watching. "It writes itself."

To anyone who thinks that is too meta, She Hulk has already been doing exactly that in the MCU proper, crashing through the Disney Plus homepage. When Deadpool breaks the fourth wall and makes meta references just like in the comics, he is viewed as crazy by everyone around him, and no one really picks up on what he is even saying. There are several moments in Deadpool & Wolverine where Deadpool breaks the fourth wall directly to Wolverine and Wolverine does not even acknowledge it, they just move on.

Maybe eventually someone will acknowledge Deadpool's fourth wall breaking, and that someone could be She Hulk. When they meet for the first time and both start breaking the fourth wall, they could argue over whose thing that is, or maybe they bond over it. I really hope they do not go the route of making Deadpool's fourth wall breaking ability into a literal superpower to look beyond the multiverse and find Loki and Doom, though I will admit that does sound kind of cool.

To anyone saying Deadpool is too silly to be in a heavy movie like Doomsday, the Deadpool movies have some of the most chill inducing, dramatic, and heartbreaking scenes of any cape film, including the Take On Me scene in Deadpool 2 and the I Am The X-Men scene from Deadpool & Wolverine, which gives me chills every time.

Could this actually be teasing a secret Deadpool and Wolverine sequel set in the Void?

Before wrapping up, there is one more possibility worth discussing. That anarchy symbol was seen in Deadpool & Wolverine as a blue flag on a truck driven by Sabretooth, a member of Cassandra Nova's Brotherhood of Mutants, making this symbol yet another connection between the Void, Deadpool, Doomsday, and the multiverse. It all connects.

Specifically, because the picture Reynolds shared looks like it is on fabric, perhaps a t-shirt, perhaps a crew t-shirt, I wonder if Marvel has secretly greenlit a Deadpool & Wolverine sequel that takes place in the Void between Doomsday and Secret Wars. That would be pretty exciting. It could be rated R and in the same vein as an X Force type story, or maybe the characters are more like the Dark Avengers, or maybe they are just called the anarchists, standing in Doom's way as he tries to take over and become king of everything on Battleworld.

Having a story take place on Battleworld between Doomsday and Secret Wars is something the Secret Wars comics actually did, with different stories happening in other books set during that event. That is totally something Marvel could do with the movies. The possibilities are endless, and I think Marvel would be crazy not to at least consider a Deadpool and Wolverine sequel.

Do you think that anarchy logo is teasing a Deadpool and Wolverine sequel in the Void, or just their return in Avengers: Doomsday?
