Thor vs Black Adam: Why Stormbreaker Decides Who Wins the Fight
Black Adam may be the faster thunder god, but Thor's axe is the one thing that can end this battle
Thor vs Black Adam: who wins? When you boil it down, we're talking about two powerful gods of thunder, both capable of unleashing enormous amounts of lightning. But I think there's one thing that ultimately settles this fight, and that's Stormbreaker, Thor's axe. My pick is Thor.
This matchup sets the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Thor against Black Adam, played by Dwayne Johnson in the 2022 film Black Adam.
Black Adam's speed is his biggest advantage over Thor
Black Adam is a force not to be taken lightly. He can easily tear apart military vehicles, wipe out entire groups of soldiers and take on the Justice Society on his own. He's strong enough to overpower Hawkman, and he eventually manages to defeat Sabbac in the most brutal way possible.
Still, his greatest advantage isn't his strength. It's his speed. Black Adam moves so fast that bullets, missiles and almost everything else seem frozen in midair. That's something Thor hasn't shown, or at least certainly not at the same level. Thor can fly incredibly fast, but Black Adam is clearly faster, and he might be able to make Thor look like a statue.
Thor is extremely hard to kill
Here's the problem for Black Adam. Thor is extremely difficult to take down. He has survived attacks from Hulk, Hela and Thanos. He withstood the power of a neutron star, and he has spent centuries fighting everything from Frost Giants to actual gods.
Stormbreaker is a weapon that can kill Black Adam
Black Adam may be faster, but Thor has something Adam doesn't: a weapon capable of killing him. During Avengers: Infinity War, Thor threw Stormbreaker straight through a blast from all six Infinity Stones and buried it in Thanos's chest. That's crazy.
Thor could definitely do the same thing to Black Adam here. Adam has never shown that he can easily survive something on that level.
Why I don't think Black Adam can dodge Stormbreaker forever
I also think Thor would get that opening, because even though Black Adam is definitely faster, he isn't immune to being hit. I don't think Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Sabbac and Atom Smasher are all wildly faster than Thor, and yet every one of them managed to land hits on him in combat.
Thor has the durability to take Black Adam's attacks and the strength to hold his ground, and one good strike from Stormbreaker could turn the fight in an instant. Black Adam is fast enough to avoid the axe for a while, but I don't think he's fast enough to avoid it forever. Thor is the winner.
