The Thing Beats Rhino in a Fight That Isn't Really Close

Comparing raw strength, durability and fight-ending feats between Ben Grimm and Aleksei Sytsevich's Rhino.

My pick for this one is The Thing. Rhino brings real strength and a dangerous charge, but once you line up what each of them has actually done, this fight belongs to Ben Grimm from start to finish.

Rhino's Power Almost Had Me Convinced

Right out of the gate, I think Rhino is going to come flying into this fight full speed, slam straight into The Thing, and realize real quick that this is just the wrong fight. Rhino is definitely strong.

Once Aleksei fully transforms, he manages to toss Kraven around, smash through vehicles, and at one point literally gets under a truck and flips the whole thing. His hide is tough enough that Kraven is not able to injure him, and bullets do not even pierce him. I will even concede that Rhino charging at full speed with that horn could knock Ben backwards for a moment.

Why I Think This Is The Thing's Fight To Lose

Early on in his movie, The Thing manages to pull a massive ship through the water. Then, when Galactus attacks, Ben throws a tanker truck at him and swings a whole construction crane at him too.

So Rhino is able to throw a truck. That is really nothing compared to The Thing.

Rhino Isn't Built To Survive What's Coming

Toughness is where this gets even more lopsided. Rhino just is not tough enough to hang in this fight. He ended up being injured by Kraven and then trampled to death in a stampede.

The Thing, on the other hand, had buildings collapse on top of him, took attacks from Silver Surfer, and was even launched into space by Galactus before turning back around as a humanized missile.

How I Think The Fight Plays Out

In my head, Rhino charges, puts his head down, and tries to overpower The Thing. Maybe it works for a second and catches Ben off guard, but then The Thing plants his feet, grabs the horn, and the fight is all over.

Rhino is not overpowering a guy who can pull freight ships and take attacks from Galactus. He's just not. The Thing wins this one. Would you have picked Rhino to last longer than that first charge?
