Why General Grievous Beats Doctor Octopus in a Four-Arm Showdown

Four mechanical arms face off against four mechanical arms, but only one fighter has faced down whole squads of lightsaber wielders before

General Grievous versus Doctor Octopus comes down to four mechanical arms against four mechanical arms, and I think General Grievous wins this one clearly.

On paper this looks even. Both fighters bring four extra mechanical limbs into the fight, so the obvious question is what those limbs can actually do against each other.

Doctor Octopus's tentacles give him range, strength, and the ability to fight from a distance

Doctor Octopus can control all four of his tentacles at once, which lets him attack from basically every direction at the same time. Each arm can strike from more than 20 feet away, and each one is strong enough to fight Spider-Man and lift several tons on its own.

That means Doctor Octopus does not need to get in close to be dangerous. He can grab out with his limbs, rip chunks out of the battlefield, and start throwing debris at his opponent from a safe distance. Judged purely on that toolkit, I say "Doc can make it competitive."

General Grievous is used to fighting Jedi, not a regular human

The problem for Doctor Octopus is who Grievous is actually built to fight. While Doctor Octopus is used to battling Spider-Man, General Grievous fights Jedi, opponents with superhuman speed, precognition, the Force, and lightsabers. According to me, Grievous does not just win those fights, he absolutely dominates them.

Grievous can split his four arms apart, spin multiple lightsabers around at once, and swirl his whole body to attack from every angle at the same time.

Grievous simply cuts through Doctor Octopus's tentacles with his lightsabers

Doctor Octopus's tentacles are incredibly durable, but I would not say they are lightsaber proof.

When Otto sends an arm at Grievous, Grievous cuts right through it. Doc Ock sends another tentacle in, and Grievous cuts right through that one too.

Grabbing all four limbs at once will not be enough for Doctor Octopus

Doctor Octopus's best remaining option is to try to grab General Grievous with all four limbs at once, then slam him around or attempt to tear him apart. That is genuinely his only real shot at turning the fight around.

The issue is that Grievous has already fought entire groups of Jedi at once, on his own. Four arms coming at him simultaneously is not a new kind of threat for him.

The person inside the suit decides the fight

At the center of all of this, Otto is just a regular guy sitting in the middle of his mechanical arms, and Grievous is not Spider-Man. He has absolutely no problem cutting through and destroying Otto once he gets the chance.

Putting all of that together, General Grievous wins.

Who do you think actually has the edge here, and is there another matchup you would want broken down the same way?
