Every Spider-Man in the Multiverse, Ranked From Weakest to the All-Powerful Captain Universe
From Hostess Spider-Man's snack attacks to a T-rex with web shooters, here is where every version of the wall crawler lands, with one cosmic Peter Parker sitting above them all.
Peter Parker might be the original Spider-Man, but he is definitely not the only one fighting evil across the multiverse. From Miles Morales to Ben Reilly to Gwen Stacy to some far weirder versions of the wall crawler, I wanted to answer one question: which Spider-Man is the strongest? So I ranked every one of them from weakest to strongest. By the end, the most powerful version turns out to be a Peter Parker wielding one of the fundamental forces of creation itself.
Hostess Spider-Man, Spider-Girl, and Pete Spider-Man Start Things Off at the Bottom
Hostess Spider-Man is different in one massive way: his only attack is throwing Hostess snacks at people, and it usually works. He was originally created as an advertisement for Hostess Cakes before making his way into the actual spiderverse, where he was quickly eaten by Morlun and drained of all life force.
Spider-Girl, one of the more cartoonish versions, is also the youngest iteration of Spider-Man ever at just 11 years old. She got her spider powers on a class field trip and eventually took to the streets to fight crime. She has all the regular Spider-Man powers, but being a little girl still holds her back.
Then there is Pete Spider-Man, who might be the most boring variant out there. He is just a guy whose last name happens to be Spider-Man, not a hero at all but someone who works an ordinary desk job, whose greatest pride and joy is an award winning lawn. He does still have spider powers, but he is a little out of shape.
Spider-Monkey, Lady Spider, and Spider-Man Noir Bring Very Different Skill Sets
From the Marvel Apes universe, Spider-Monkey is exactly what it sounds like: a monkey bitten by a radioactive spider. He has all the same powers as every other Spider-Man, but being a monkey means he is not as smart as the others, so he is not great at planning or strategizing in a fight.
Lady Spider is a younger version of Aunt May in a universe where May Reilly, daughter of a brilliant scientist, snuck into her dad's lab and was bitten by one of his spiders. She did not get any powers from it, it was just a boring old spider, but it taught her a life lesson: never let anyone put you in a cage. She built her own spider suit with arms coming out of her back like Iron Spider and took to the streets as Lady Spider.
Spider-Man Noir is Peter Parker in the 1930s. He might not have any spider powers, but that did not stop him from becoming a hero anyway, acting a lot more like the Punisher mixed with Sherlock Holmes. He regularly patrols the streets investigating crime and solving mysteries, and once he has cracked the case he takes it upon himself to beat up the criminals too.
A Spider-Man From the Moon and Aunt May's Turn as Spider-Ma'am
One Peter Parker lived in Nueva York, a colony on the moon that basically resembles a futuristic New York. Outside of living on the moon, he is your basic friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, but we never really got to see how powerful he truly was, since he was quickly taken out by Morlun during the Spider-Verse event.
In another alternate universe, on the day Peter was supposed to be bitten by the spider, he forgot his lunch at home, so Aunt May rushed to the field trip with his lunchbox in hand and got bitten instead of him. Aunt May became Spider-Ma'am from there. She has about the same amount of strength as the other Spider-Man, but her old age keeps her on the lower end of the power scale.
The Spider-Man Born With Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Old Man Spider Both Fight On Despite Physical Limits
As Into the Spider-Verse taught us, anyone can be Spider-Man, and this hero proves it. Born with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, she is still out there stopping crime and beating up bad guys on a pair of crutches that also act as her web shooters.
After Peter Parker died in his universe, Ezekiel Sims took over as Spider-Man and held the mantle for years, to the point where by the time Spider-Verse happened he was basically the Spider-Man version of Old Man Logan. Old Man Spider has all the same powers as other Spider-Man, but like Spider-Ma'am he is a bit worn down due to his age. That still does not stop him from being ready to throw hands at a moment's notice.
Spider-Ham and the Mechanical Spider-Man Aaron Aman Both Have a Catch
Peter Porker comes from an alternate universe where literally every superhero is some kind of animal, including animal versions of Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom. Like every Spider-Man, Spider-Ham has the same powers, super strength and web slinging. His only downside is that he is a pig, which makes it kind of difficult to fight against villains from outside his universe.
Unlike Peter Parker, Dr Aaron Aman actually chose to transform himself into a Spider-Man rather than accidentally getting bitten. He went through an experiment that combined his DNA with a spider's, but it did not go the same way as it did for other Spider-Man. Instead, he had to build himself a mechanical suit to tap into his powers, and without it his powers are basically useless.
Betty Brant's Spider-Girl and the Peter Parker Who Became the Goblin
Betty Brant was bitten by a radioactive spider during Peter's field trip rather than Pete himself, causing her to become Spider-Girl. Her powers are the same as the real Spider-Man's, and she even has the same web shooters. Spider-Girl became friends with the Peter Parker of her universe, and he helped create her very own web shooters.
After the loss of Gwen Stacy at the hands of the Green Goblin, one Peter Parker ended up killing the Green Goblin in an act of revenge. He then stopped being Spider-Man and became the Goblin instead, a much fiercer and more lethal anti-hero. The only reason he is not higher on this list is that his mental state is definitely not the best, since watching the love of your life be killed and then becoming a killer yourself will do that to a person.
Web-Weaver and Supaidaman Bring Their Own Flair to the Mantle
Cooper Cone was Marvel's first gay Spider-Man, becoming Web-Weaver. He is a fashion icon alongside being a superhero, and his spider powers are actually pretty well defined too, with a Web-sense that can keep him out of most any danger.
Supaidaman is from the Japanese television show that made its own version of Spider-Man. His powers are a little less impressive than other real Spider-Man, mostly for budget reasons, but that is made up for by the fact that he can call a giant mech robot known as Leopardon into battle with him.
Arachnido Jr. and the Second-Generation Spider-Girl Both Carry On a Legacy
Most of the Spiderverse heroes are just different Peter Parkers from different countries, and Arachnido Jr. is no exception, essentially being the Spider-Man from Mexico. His main nemesis is a version of Scorpion who managed to kill his father. He became the crime fighting protector of Mexico City and eventually became part of the Spider-Verse.
In another universe, Peter Parker and Mary Jane got their happily ever after, and they had a daughter named May Parker. May inherited some of her dad's powers, becoming Spider-Girl and eventually Spider-Woman. She is a bit weaker than her dad since she is a mix of his spider powers and her mom's, but she has still proven herself to be a fantastic hero in her universe.
Spider-UK and Pavitr Prabhakar Bring an International Twist
Billy Braddock trained under Captain Britain in Britain until he was bitten by a radioactive spider and gained similar powers to the Spider-Man over in New York City. Since Peter Parker still exists in this universe, Braddock created a similar outfit and became a new hero with an English twist.
Pavitr Prabhakar is basically Peter Parker from India, but instead of being bitten by a spider, he gained his abilities from an ancient Yogi who gave him the gift to fight evil in his world. He mostly faced off against a version of Norman Osborn who could summon a demon to transform him into a literal goblin.
Spider-Punk's Army Makes Him Nearly Impossible to Beat
Hobie Brown is the Spider-Man from a universe where Norman Osborn became president and dictator of the United States, causing Spider-Man to lead a revolution to fight back. Spider-Punk has pretty much the same powers as other Spider-Man, but what sets him apart is his spider army, a mass of followers at his back.
As I put it, "spider Punk is basically unbeatable unless you're able to separate him from his adoring fans."
Patton Parnell, Spider-Wolf, and Man-Spider Show the Darker and Stranger Sides of the Bite
Patton Parnell is basically the opposite of Peter Parker, a sociopathic maniac who experimented on animals and did not become responsible when he gained his powers. Unlike the other Spider-Man, when Parnell was bitten he gained the ability to transform into a grotesque spider-like beast. He ate his uncle and implanted hundreds of baby spiders into his love interest Sarah Jane, so definitely not a great guy.
Not much is known about Spider-Wolf, but the guess is that he comes from a gothic universe where a lot of people are actually werewolves. Spider-Wolf has the combined strength of Spider-Man and a werewolf, making him incredibly powerful, so the villain Karn hunted him down before he could team up with the other Spider-Man just because of how powerful he was.
Man-Spider was a genetically devolved version of Spider-Man that basically answers the question of what would have happened if a spider had been bitten by a radioactive human. He has basically all the same powers and abilities as Spider-Man, except he can shoot acid and form webs without web shooters. He might not be as smart as Pete, but his brute strength more than makes up for it.
Anya's Spider-Girl and Ben Reilly's Scarlet Spider Both Draw on Peter's Legacy
Unlike Spider-Man, this Spider-Girl gained her abilities from the Spider Society, a mystical group that worships spider deities. Anya's spider abilities are a tad bit stronger than Pete's, and on top of that she has camouflage like Miles Morales and skeletal flexibility that lets her compress herself or withstand attacks like Mr Fantastic.
Ben Reilly, or Scarlet Spider, is quite literally a clone of Peter Parker. One of Spider-Man's villains, the Jackal, used Peter's DNA to create an exact clone of him, but it turned out the clone had Peter's personality. He turned against the Jackal and started his own superhero path as the Scarlet Spider.
Spider-Rex Is a T-Rex With Spider Powers, and Spinneret Absorbed Venom Along the Way
This Spider-Man takes two things and combines them into one: a T-rex with the powers of Spider-Man, easily one of the strongest Spider-Man out there. He might not be the most graceful or agile, but literally a T-rex with spider powers is a force to be reckoned with.
In one universe, Mary Jane had to become a Spider-Man to help protect her family. Peter is still Spider-Man there, and he designed a suit for MJ that gave her all the same powers, but the downside is that the suit would drain Peter of his own powers whenever she used them, especially when they were close together. Eventually, after a run-in with Venom, MJ's suit started absorbing Venom's powers too, so at her peak Spinneret had the combined strength of Spider-Man and Venom.
Spiderling's Precognition and Peni Parker's Giant Mech Push Them Further Up the List
Peter and MJ ended up having another daughter in a different universe, also named May Parker, who gained spider powers from her dad without any limitation, plus one more power on top of that. While Pete's Spider Sense can only warn him of danger moments before it happens, Spiderling's Spider Sense can warn her a few hours in advance, and that level of precognition makes her a genuinely powerful Spider-Man.
Peni Parker is basically the Peter Parker of Japan, but instead of being bitten by a spider, she teams up with a radioactive spider that controls a giant mechanical suit. Penny does not have any powers herself, but the spider makes her one of the strongest members of the Spiderverse, since the suit is incredibly powerful and essentially has no limits, able to summon almost any weapon needed and put up almost unlimited defenses.
Spider-Cyborg's Sonic Cannon and Spider-Gwen's Police Access Set Them Apart
In a futuristic apocalyptic universe, Peter Parker is not just Spider-Man but also a cyborg, with super robot arms, metal claws and a massive sonic cannon on his right arm. Basically he is a combination of Spider-Man and Cyborg from DC Comics, making him one of the strongest heroes in the Spiderverse. Unfortunately, like all the other especially powerful Spider-Man, he was immediately targeted by the villain Karn because of the threat he posed.
Spider-Gwen has become one of the more famous Spider-Man variants over the years, coming from a universe where Gwen Stacy was bitten by a spider and Peter Parker lost his life instead. She fights crime and protects New York City like other Spider-Man, but what sets her apart is her access to police equipment, since her dad Captain Stacy is still alive in this universe, giving her direct access to all the police gear she wants.
Silk's Sharper Senses and Jessica Drew's Spider-Woman Bring Unique Tools to the Fight
Silk is another Spider-Man variant who actually comes from Earth 616. Her origin ties directly into Peter's, since she was bitten by the same radioactive spider moments after Peter was. She is a little physically weaker than Pete, but her other abilities make up for it: her agility blows Peter away, and her Spider Sense is more sensitive than pretty much any other Spider-Man out there.
Genetically enhanced and experimented on by Hydra, Jessica Drew was molded into the perfect assassin and sent out to kill Nick Fury. She eventually saw the true nature of Hydra and ended up as a SHIELD agent instead, becoming Spider-Woman and even joining the Avengers. She has roughly the same physical powers as Spider-Man, same strength and speed, but she also has powers unique to her: she can release pheromones that cause people to panic or run away, and she can unleash powerful venom blasts to take enemies down.
Miles Morales Brings Camouflage, Electric Venom Strikes, and Possible Immortality
Miles Morales is the main character of Spider-Verse and a star in video games, and while he may at first have just seemed like another version of Spider-Man, he is anything but. First off, he is able to make himself practically invisible using camouflage. Secondly, he is able to send electric charges into people he touches, and can even run those electric charges through his webbing to shock people at long distances.
Lastly, it is possible that Miles is actually immortal, a side effect of the Oz formula that gave him his powers in the first place.
The Superior Spider-Man Combines Peter's Strength With Otto Octavius's Genius
Another Spider-Man from Earth 616 is the Superior Spider-Man, also known as Otto Octavius, or Doc Ock. After Peter and Otto essentially switched minds, Otto became stuck in the body of Peter Parker, while the mind of Peter lost his life in the body of Otto. But because he had all of Peter's memories, Otto had a change of heart and promised to continue the legacy of Spider-Man.
Essentially, the Superior Spider-Man is all the strength of Peter Parker combined with the off the charts genius and incredible ego of Otto Octavius, making him one of the strongest Spider-Man ever.
Spider-Man 2099's Future Tech Puts Him Ahead of the Pack
In the future of 2099, Miguel O'Hara took up the mantle of Spider-Man after his DNA was mixed with a spider's. He has basically all the same powers and abilities as Peter Parker, plus some Pete does not have, like actual spider fangs and venom. What really makes Spider-Man 2099 stand out is all the future tech in his suit, made out of unstable molecules, right down to legitimate time travel.
The Six-Armed Spider-Man Turned a Comic Book Mistake Into Serious Power
There was once a Spider-Man comic where Peter drank a potion that was supposed to make him more powerful, but instead it ended with him growing four extra arms, eight limbs total, just like a spider. This was quickly fixed in the mainstream universe, but a What If comic delved into what Peter would have been like had he never gotten rid of the extra arms.
His basic abilities seemed to stay the same, but his extra arms seriously enhanced his agility and strength, making him into an incredibly stronger version of himself. He was able to easily defeat Doc Ock, successfully saved Gwen Stacy's life, and even played a vital role in protecting the Spiderverse.
Spider-Carnage Kept Venom for His Entire Career and Paid a Brutal Price for It
This alternate Peter Parker was similar to Patton Parnell, except even more brutal, with much deeper sociopathic tendencies. Instead of using his powers for good, he only used them to hurt people, and he was eventually charged with 67 consecutive life sentences for his crimes. Not even that could stop him.
What really makes Spider-Carnage stand out is the Venom symbiote. Unlike almost every other Spider-Man, he kept Venom with him for his entire career, and Venom's powers combined with Pete's rage put Spider-Carnage at the same power level as Carnage at Carnage's strongest, making him extremely powerful.
Why the Original Peter Parker Is Still the Baseline for the Whole Family
If you think about it, Peter is essentially the base average for comparing power levels when it comes to Spiderverse heroes, with a ton of the alternate Spider-Man being stronger than him and a lot of others being weaker. Other Spider-Man are faster, some are smarter, some have better Spider Sense, but what makes the original Peter Parker the best is that he has one of the best balances between all of his powers and abilities.
It is the same as over in the Bat family: Nightwing is more acrobatic than Batman, Red Hood is much more brutal and ruthless, Tim Drake is the better detective, Cassandra Cain is the better hand to hand fighter, and Damian is even the better warrior and soldier, but none of them are actually better than Batman, because while they might beat him at one thing, Batman is better than them at everything else. Peter Parker is like that for the spider family. There may be some things he cannot do, but he is still the best of them.
On top of that, Spider-Man's willpower, his self sacrifice, and the need to live out the idea that with great power comes great responsibility have caused Peter to push himself further than almost every other Spider-Man, which again makes him one of the best.
Captain Universe Is the Most Powerful Spider-Man of All
The most powerful Spider-Man of all the Spider-Man is the cosmic Spider-Man, also known as Captain Universe. Using the power of the Enigma Force, one of the fundamental forces of creation, this Peter Parker became stronger than basically any other being to ever exist.
The Enigma Force essentially bumped all of Spider-Man's abilities up to unlimited range, while also allowing him to practically see through space and time or alter everything around him down to the atomic level. As I see it, "there is no question that this version of Peter Parker is the most powerful and strongest Spider-Man out there in the spiderverse."
So with all these versions accounted for, from a monkey with a spider bite to a T-rex with web shooters to a Peter Parker wielding a cosmic force, which one do you think deserves to be higher or lower on this list?
