Wolverine vs Black Panther: Who Wins This MCU Matchup?

A look at strength, suits, healing factors and claws to settle the fight between the two Marvel heavyweights.

Wolverine versus Black Panther is a close fight, but I think eventually Wolverine wins. Black Panther has a lot going for him on paper, and for most of the fight he might actually look like he's winning. In the end though, it comes down to one thing Black Panther cannot do: keep Wolverine down for good.

Black Panther is probably stronger, faster and the better pure fighter

Black Panther has a lot going for him. He's probably stronger than Wolverine, definitely faster, more agile, and he's the better pure fighter. T'Challa has fought with Captain America, overpowered Bucky, and chased down moving cars on foot, which is genuinely impressive on its own.

Then you add the Black Panther suit on top of that natural ability, and it gets even worse for anyone facing him. The suit is made of a vibranium weave that can stop bullets and absorb kinetic energy from attacks. T'Challa can then literally release all of that stored energy back out in one massive blast.

Wolverine's adamantium claws could cut through vibranium

Obviously, Wolverine isn't going to be punching Panther. His adamantium claws are made out of the toughest metal in the Marvel universe, and that changes the calculation entirely. We've never actually seen adamantium go against vibranium in the MCU, so this part is untested on screen, but we do know vibranium isn't completely indestructible.

Black Panther's own claws are able to scratch Captain America's shield, and adamantium is said to be tougher than that. So even if you want to argue Wolverine can't cut through Black Panther's suit, T'Challa still has one massive problem on his hands: how exactly is he supposed to keep Wolverine down?

Wolverine's healing factor has survived far worse than Black Panther can throw at him

Wolverine has survived the atomic bomb going off in Nagasaki. He's been shot and stabbed more times than you can count, and Jean Grey was literally disintegrating the flesh off his bones while he was regenerating almost as fast as she could destroy him.

In Deadpool & Wolverine, Logan and Deadpool spent basically an entire fight stabbing and slicing each other, and neither one could actually stay down.

Why I think Wolverine wins in the end

Panther can absolutely beat Wolverine up. He can dodge his attacks, slash him with his claws, and hit him with his kinetic blast. Honestly, for most of the fight, T'Challa might actually look like he's winning. But everything Black Panther can do, Wolverine can heal from.

On the other hand, with Logan, it only takes one clean stab through the suit, one weak spot, one opening. Black Panther doesn't have a healing factor to save him if that happens. It's a close fight, but I think eventually Wolverine wins.
