Rhino vs Bison: Who Wins the Fight?

A rhino versus a bison, who wins? Now, the bison is seriously impressive.

The bison is 2,200 pounds of stubborn muscle

I honestly think the bison is an animal that consistently gets underestimated. Full grown males can get up to 2,200 lb, and that shoulder hump is pure muscle built specifically for powering up its charge. On top of that, it is one of the most stubborn animals on Earth. As I put it, "A bison really doesn't back down to almost anything."

There is actually footage of the bison's cousin, the buffalo, holding its own against a rhino despite being significantly outweighed, and I think the bison here is arguably just as tough. When a bison charges, that is 2,200 lb of pure muscle moving at 35 mph.

The rhino outweighs it by nearly 3,000 pounds with a 59 inch horn

The problem for the bison here is really just size and mass. The rhino can get up to 5,000 lb, literally twice as much as the bison, and it carries a 59 inch horn. That horn is really what is going to change the whole fight in the rhino's favor.

The bison's main attack is its head charge, that is simply what bisons do. The problem is that the rhino's horn is going to be directly in its way, and combined with how tough the rhino's armor is, the bison is not really going to be able to reliably damage it. As I said, "That's not great" for the bison's chances.

My verdict: the rhino wins

The rhino outweighs the bison by nearly 3,000 lb, and when two animals charge each other with one carrying a 60 inch horn pointed at the other, I think we know who is going to be coming out on top. The rhino wins.
