Hulk vs. Pennywise: Who Wins a Fight Between Marvel's Monster and the Clown?

Bruce Banner's buried fear looks like perfect prey, but the Deadlights and Immortal Hulk make the outcome far less simple

In a normal fight where destroying a body counts as a win, I'm taking the Hulk. If the question is whether either one can actually kill the other, though, I'm not sure that fight ever ends.

Bruce Banner looks like ideal prey for Pennywise

On paper, Bruce Banner sounds like the perfect person for Pennywise to go after. The guy has an entire lifetime of childhood trauma, an abusive father, and all this fear and anger buried inside of him. Pennywise would have plenty to work with there.

But there's a pretty big problem. Scaring Bruce Banner may be the worst thing Pennywise could ever do, because eventually the Hulk is coming out.

Any physical form Pennywise takes is likely getting destroyed by the Hulk

Once the Hulk shows up, basically any physical form Pennywise creates is getting destroyed. The Hulk has fought Thor, Hercules, giant monsters and demons, so Pennywise turning into some giant spider really isn't going to scare him.

And considering the Hulk gets stronger the angrier he gets, Pennywise constantly messing with Bruce's head is probably just going to make things worse.

The Deadlights could give Pennywise a real way to hurt the Hulk

This is where things can get really interesting. Pennywise isn't really the clown or even the giant spider. Those are basically just physical forms it uses inside our reality. The real Pennywise exists outside our normal universe, with its true nature represented by the Deadlights.

I guess you could argue that's where it flips and the Hulk could actually be in trouble, because the Deadlights attack your mind, not your body. The Hulk isn't completely immune to that kind of thing. He's resisted psychic attacks before, sure, but he's also been mentally controlled and manipulated before, too. So Pennywise absolutely has a way to hurt him.

Devil Hulk and Immortal Hulk make Bruce's mind a strange target

Even then, Bruce's mind is a pretty weird place to attack. There are multiple Hulk personalities living in there, including Devil Hulk, who basically exists to protect Bruce.

Immortal Hulk made it even crazier. The Hulk can literally die, pass through the Below-Place and come back again. So I'm honestly not even sure Pennywise can actually kill him.

I don't think the Hulk can kill the true Pennywise either

I don't think the Hulk can actually kill the true Pennywise, though. He can destroy every physical form it throws at him, but the Hulk doesn't automatically know the Ritual of Chüd. We've never really seen him just reach outside reality and punch something like the Deadlights.

So if we're asking who can actually kill the other, "this fight might never end." But in a normal fight where you can destroy a body and call it a win, "I'm taking the Hulk."

Who do you think comes out on top in a fight between the Hulk and Pennywise?
