Avengers Doomsday's Second Trailer Audio Has Already Leaked, and I Can Tell You Exactly When the Real One Drops
Two industry insiders point to this Friday's D23 for new Vision Quest and Avengers Doomsday footage, and I've worked out roughly when each one should drop.
Published 17 August 2026. Words like "tonight" or "next week" refer to that date.
In the last 24 hours, two different industry insiders have indicated we're getting new footage this Friday at D23, and it's more than one trailer. I'm breaking down where it came from, which trailers we can expect, and for one of them, roughly what time it drops.
Two Insiders Point to Vision Quest and Avengers Doomsday Footage This Friday
First up, we're expecting the Vision Quest trailer. That came from an industry insider either yesterday or the night before, saying we would get the Vision Quest trailer to coincide with it being presented at D23. But apparently that's not the only trailer coming, because right as the event is scheduled to conclude at 9:00 p.m. Pacific time, which is midnight on the East Coast, tickets worldwide are going on sale for Avengers Doomsday.
They already did a first round of presale tickets and those completely sold out. Now they're releasing tickets everywhere for everyone. To coincide with that global on sale, Marvel Studios is apparently going to drop the second Avengers Doomsday trailer at the same moment.
The Second Doomsday Trailer's Audio Has Already Leaked Online
If you've been paying attention to social media in the last 24 hours, that trailer already leaked, at least the audio, because it's the same exact trailer they just showed at San Diego Comic-Con. Apparently someone captured only the audio, not the visuals, and now it's circulating online.
I don't think that's that big of a deal. Industry insiders have been talking about it coming for a couple of weeks, it's only days away, and YouTubers in our little corner have already done multiple breakdowns of that footage. As I put it, "you guys already know the dialogue, and that's just the world we live in in 2026 where you get the leak trailer before you get the real trailer."
My Theory That Marvel and Sony Orchestrate These Leaks for Two News Cycles
That creates two different news cycles, and I don't think the marketing and analytics teams at both Sony and Marvel Studios, seeing this happen for years now, aren't orchestrating it themselves to some degree. They show these things in public before they put them online, similar to the preview trailers they showed in December. They get a bump when it leaks online, they put the real thing out days later, and they get another bump for the official release.
To be clear, I don't actually think Marvel Studios wanted to leak the earlier granulated, then cleared up, scene from Avengers Doomsday that circulated before. I don't think they tried to leak that specific one. But for these public trailer premieres at events like Comic-Con and D23, they know exactly what they're doing when footage gets out ahead of the official online drop.
Marvel Might Skip Comic-Con Next Year and Drop Secret Wars for Everyone at Once
Still, I do sort of yearn for the days where we get the trailer as a community all at once. I think Marvel Studios has a unique opportunity next year, because they may skip San Diego Comic-Con altogether. They usually do every other year a huge D23 in Anaheim and then maybe go abroad, so next year they could do just that.
Maybe they don't show the next big trailer at CinemaCon earlier in the year either, and instead drop the Secret Wars trailer for everybody online at the same time in March or May. Maybe it airs in front of the Super Bowl, which I have a sneaking suspicion they may do. If it goes live in front of everyone's eyes at once, there won't be these leaked versions or leaked audio like what's going around now.
Doomsday Presale Sold Out Instantly, and Endgame Encore Tickets Are Being Held Back on Purpose
A lot of you have been asking about tickets for Avengers Doomsday. This Friday is the date, so if you didn't grab them in the presales, you'll have your chance to grab them now. Others have been asking about the Avengers Endgame encore tickets, and they haven't released those yet.
What they're clearly doing is running the Doomsday presales first, letting everybody spend money on multiple viewings for that, and then once two or three weeks have passed on that cycle, they'll release the Endgame tickets, probably right around a month out. That Endgame Encore did not come out until September 25th with the new Doomsday footage attached, and Marvel was being extremely structured with this so they can milk as much money as possible out of everybody seeing both Doomsday and the Encore.
Not that I'm complaining, but the thinking is Marvel wants the Doomsday presales moving before people have to decide between spending on Endgame Encore or Doomsday tickets. And people clearly will spend on both, because the presale tickets sold out in about 24 hours. I was checking my two favorite theaters and both were sold out instantly, so I'm going to have to see it about 30 minutes from my house in a premium format instead.
Roughly When the Trailer Should Drop During the D23 Presentation
You can already go hear the audio for the second trailer, and I've broken it down a couple of times already, so I'm not doing that again here. But you can also just wait two or three days and see the trailer in full. Usually when Marvel Studios is releasing more than one trailer, like Vision Quest and the Doomsday second trailer, they do it around the same time as the project's presentation slot.
Assuming Vision Quest and the Marvel television stuff go first in the presentation, movies will go last. That presentation runs 7:00 to 9:00 on the West Coast, so 10:00 to midnight on the East Coast. They'll probably drop the Vision Quest trailer online while everyone's still in the watch party, the way they've done in the past for that show, posting it right as they show it live. Then the Doomsday trailer should drop right when tickets go on sale at the end of the presentation, around 9:00 p.m. Pacific, with everyone scrambling for tickets at the same time.
Why Marvel Is Right to Keep So Much of Doomsday Still Hidden
It seems like Marvel Studios has procured certain scenes that they're willing to show different frames of across trailers, but the more we hear from industry insiders about plot leaks, there's still a ton of Avengers Doomsday that hasn't been revealed. I'm totally okay with Marvel Studios doing the same thing with the rest of the marketing.
There's a reason they haven't revealed all of the cast and certain characters we feel like should definitely be showing up, like Monica Rambeau. Why tease her in The Marvels post-credit scene tied to the X-Men universe if she's not going to be part of the film? There are a ton of characters, actors, details, scenes and action sequences we haven't heard about yet, and for me, if we just keep seeing more frames of the same scenes already shown, that'll be enough.
Marvel does have a history in the last week or two before release of showing too much in daily TV spots to make sure everyone's bought tickets. As I've always said, especially with something like Multiverse of Madness or The Marvels, where they revealed the X-Men were involved only for it to turn out to be just the post-credit scene, over-revealing in TV spots for people who've already bought tickets just ruins the fandom without actually forcing people who don't have tickets to run to the box office. For now, Marvel Studios is doing the right thing, and I hope they keep it that way.
Some of you are frustrated with the lack of Doom, or the lack of the movie in general, and I've heard complaints that the second trailer looks and sounds exactly like the first. That's on purpose, because they're trying to keep a majority of the film secret, and I'm totally okay with this.
What do you think Marvel is still hiding about Avengers Doomsday that we haven't seen yet?
