That Avengers: Doomsday Plot Leak Now Has Insider Backing, but I Think Key Pieces Are Missing
John Campea and Robert Burnett say a circulating Doomsday plot leak matches what they are hearing, but the gaps in it leave me skeptical
A fully written Avengers: Doomsday plot leak that has been circulating online now has backing from John Campea and Robert Burnett, who say it lines up exactly with what they are hearing. I have walked through the whole leak with that in mind, but I have real questions about whether it holds up. Normal spoiler warning, and take everything with a grain of salt.
Why this Avengers: Doomsday leak is back in the news
Over roughly the last six months I have covered about 10 Avengers: Doomsday plot leaks, maybe fewer. I do not mean a new scene detail here or a character cameo there. I mean a fully written out account of what is going to happen in the film. Some of those I have debunked pretty hard. Others have been believable, and parts of some have even been corroborated or proven over the past couple of months.
This one is at the front of the news cycle because of John Campea and Robert Burnett. They have claimed to have inside knowledge of the Doomsday plot for almost a year, while also claiming they have not seen anything, and they say they intimately know the details. Now they have said that this version of the leak lines up exactly with what they are hearing. So I am reading it through a new lens: the assumption that it may actually be real.
Even if it is true, I would not let it ruin the experience. Reading a leak takes a few minutes, while the film runs nearly three hours, and when I wrote this in early July 2026 it was set to reach theaters at the end of the year. No matter what is in here, it does not tell the full story. As the Russos and Kevin Feige have said, the idea is that you make a movie good enough that it is still entertaining even if people know what is going to happen.
The leak says Wolverine and Deadpool destroy Tobey Maguire's Earth
According to the leak, Avengers: Doomsday opens in New York City on the Earth of Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man. He is fighting Deadpool and Wolverine, who have been sent there with a bomb built by Beast that can kill a planet. The goal is to destroy Tobey's world to save their own universe from an incursion.
Tobey battles Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, who manages to plant the device. Wolverine stays behind when it detonates, and he, Tobey's Spider-Man and everyone else on that Earth are killed. Deadpool escapes back to his own Earth, which is visible in the distance, and Charles Xavier watches the destroyed world below with sadness, because, as the leak puts it, they had no choice.
Steve Rogers, Peggy and their son Jim end up in the Fantastic Four's universe
The leak then cuts to Tony's funeral. Steve speaks with some of the heroes, including Ant-Man, before returning the Stones. He goes back in time, chooses to stay with Peggy, and they have a son named Jim. One day Loki visits them, which the leak places before the Loki season 2 finale. He tells Steve about the TVA and warns him that it will soon prune his timeline, because Steve was never meant to live there or have a son.
Loki offers a way out: he can take them to a universe where they do not exist and can live in peace, the Fantastic Four's universe. Before leaving, Loki gives Steve a special card to contact him, and Steve and his family live there for 10 years.
The leak has Doctor Doom recruit the Fantastic Four, the Avengers and the X-Men
Next, according to the leak, Doctor Doom visits Sue and Franklin, and they clearly know each other. Doom says he has come to speak with Reed, warns him about the incursions and reveals that their universe is next. He proposes a plan, but they must travel with him to Earth-616. Doom also asks Reed whether someone from another universe might be living in theirs. They scan the planet, find an anomaly, Steve and his family, and confront Steve, who recognizes them after a decade there.
They explain the incursions and ask Steve to come to 616 to help convince the Avengers to trust Doom's plan, and he succeeds. They then visit the X-Men's universe, where the X-Men are hostile. Having survived multiple incursions, they trust no one, assume the MCU heroes and the Fantastic Four have come to destroy them, and attack. Reed and Doom explain their solution: build massive cannons on each Earth that will permanently separate the universes and stop the incursions, with teams splitting up to place a cannon on each Earth.
The leak claims Doom kills Loki and Steve's son
Meanwhile, Steve tells Thor he met a Loki who is still alive, and Thor asks to be taken to him. Using Loki's card, they locate the TVA, but everyone there is dead and Loki has had his heart ripped out. They realize Doom is responsible. When Steve confronts him, Doom reveals his true plan: to let the incursions happen so he can rebuild the multiverse in his own image and resurrect his dead family.
Doom takes Steve to his castle in Latveria, where Steve meets Doom's followers, masked witches, one of whom impersonates Peggy to manipulate him. Doom reveals that Steve's presence in their universe, where he did not belong, is what triggered their incursion. It also led to the death of Doom's family: obsessed with stopping the incursion, Doom conducted dangerous experiments, one of which failed, killing his family and leaving him disfigured, forcing him to wear the armor and mask. As revenge, Doom kills Steve's son in front of him.
The leak ends with war in Latveria and Doom ruling Battleworld
Doom announces that the Avengers are coming, and Latveria prepares for war. The Fantastic Four, the Avengers and the X-Men unite and march on Latveria, and Thor prays to Odin, who sends an army from Valhalla to join the battle. A massive war erupts as the Earths begin to collide. Eventually the universes crash into each other and are destroyed, killing everyone except Doom.
It is then revealed that Doom stole Loki's powers. Using them, he creates Battleworld, resurrects everyone and erases their memories, so they believe Battleworld is all that has ever existed. The leak closes on everyone living new lives in this false reality while Doom sits on his throne as emperor of Battleworld.
Why I think this leak could have been compiled with ChatGPT
Having read it through again, I do remember covering this one before. If my memory serves me well, and it does when it comes to this kind of thing because I am constantly tracking what we know about these films, some things in it may have been changed since then. That is the nature of the internet with ChatGPT: it can scrub millions of sources at once and produce a very thorough, in depth plot leak that simply includes all the details we have already heard.
John Campea says this lines up with what he has heard. He is more of a YouTuber than a scooper, but he has been in Hollywood for a long, long time, and if he does have sources and connections at the studios, it is plausible he would know what is going on. Still, I want to pick at this. The opening scene details with Deadpool, Wolverine and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man are looking more and more likely. DanielRPK has even said the picture of Wolverine impaled and Tobey Maguire in a mocap costume on a blue screen is from Avengers: Doomsday, and that it is real, not AI.
My question is why the leak makes no mention of Magneto or Spider-Man's rogues' gallery, which has also been confirmed to be part of that scene. It is very convenient to have a thorough leak that includes every detail we have discussed over the last year when ChatGPT can compile them, and this is one of the more recent leaks, only brought up in the last 30 to 60 days. Campea has said he has known the plot for quite some time, and more details have come out over time. But if this was originally written by someone with real inside knowledge, I feel the detail of Magneto fighting Tobey's villains is something they would include.
Trailer moments are slotted in, but the rest of a three hour film is absent
I also feel the leak compiles everything that has come from industry insiders without addressing much of what we have already seen in the preview trailers. It does mention Steve and his son, and Thor praying, which we got to see. But for a leak written after those trailers came out, it seems like those moments were just placed in spots that make sense for footage we already know is in the film.
Where are all the other scenes and details? If you knew the overarching plot, surely you would know more. This is a very quick read for what should be a three hour film, one with all sorts of scenes, agendas, jokes and interplay between characters that are completely absent here, both now and the first time I went through it, whether it has been amended or not.
No surprises, no Storm, no pocket universe and no Wong
Another big sticking point for me is the lack of surprises. The whole film will be surprising in a sense, because it is Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. I think we are all still scratching our heads a little about how that will work and whether we will buy into the story with Steve Rogers and Downey as Victor Von Doom after all this time. I think we will, because our connection to these actors and characters still matters. But there will undoubtedly be some huge surprises, whether cameos or unexpected events, and this leak lacks any of them.
There is nothing about major cameos, like Halle Berry's Storm or another character from across the multiverse. We have also heard from industry insiders that at some point we will go to a pocket universe that may include variants of characters we never expected to see, or that we will not see again in the MCU after Doomsday. There is no mention of that pocket universe or who is there. Then there are characters like Vision, Star-Lord, the Guardians, Wong, Kate Bishop, Ms. Marvel, the Young Avengers, Monica Rambeau, who should be in the X-Men universe, and Rhodey, who has been involved with these characters at major points in their lives. I highly doubt we will go all the way through Doomsday, and maybe even Secret Wars, without seeing any of them.
As I see it, "Doctor Strange being aligned with Doctor Doom is probably a consequence of him taking off to the Dark Dimension with Clea." We cannot assume Wong knows what is going on with Doom, but given the Thunderbolts post credits scene, we know there is some sort of space anomaly, and Wong has America Chavez under his tutelage. I cannot understand how or why he would not be involved. I also do not know why there is no mention of Shang-Chi's Ten Rings and wherever that map is leading as a beacon. If someone knew the plot, I would expect at least a couple of these details to appear, rather than the bland, dry explainer this leak is.
Why I remained skeptical
Part of me has some real questions about all of this. At the time, part of me wondered whether we would simply see another version of this leak once new details came out in a month or two, picking up fresh information that suddenly seemed to confirm it. The more that happens, the more skeptical I am going to remain.
Do you think this Avengers: Doomsday plot leak is real, or is it missing too much?
