Deadpool & Wolverine Reaction: A Fun Ride That Needs Logan, and a Perfect Ending

After the earlier Deadpool films and Logan, we found the team up a blast

Galaxy Geeks (AI-assisted)4 October 2026 · Editor: Digital Fox Talent Editorial Team 440 words · 2 min read

Deadpool & Wolverine is so good, and we loved it. We came to it straight from the earlier Deadpool films and Logan.

The opening and the Logan question

The opening grabbed us right away. Deadpool using Logan's remains in a fight set to my favorite version of the song is about as good a start to a movie as we can think of. I love this so much, even though it is "desecrating his grave" after how hard we cried in Logan, and that was what the internet said while they were making this movie. The response: "well they did."

The multiverse logic confused me a little. I guessed the Logan universe was the Deadpool universe, which I did not expect. I am not upset, though. I think it works; it is just weird. We were also left wondering why Thor was crying in that brief glimpse.

Cameos, and one Gambit we can do without

The fight between Deadpool and this new Wolverine is pointless, since neither can die, but let's be honest, it's fun. "This is for comic nerds," and we have always wanted to see them fight. After 20 years, he finally wears the yellow suit, and the soundtrack was great.

I could not believe Blade was in this, and the Henry Cavill moment just feels right. Gambit was harder. they kept trying to make the Gambit movie, and "I'm happy he gets to play it here," but I am fine with never seeing this version of Gambit again, and I do not think the suit looks good on him. People were mad that X23 was spoiled in the final trailer. My understanding is they did it so she could attend the premiere, but she could still have gone without being in the trailer. It was a terrible spoiler.

Why Logan matters, and how it ranks

Logan's line about being the wrong guy, and X23 telling him she got to grow up because of him, landed because we had seen Logan first. It "still works," but "you need Logan you cannot watch this without Logan." His relationship with Charles, especially after that film, gave me chills, and so did hearing all those voices.

"I would say this is the perfect ending." We split on rankings, though. One ranking would probably put this third film first, then the first movie, then the second. The other ranking put the first movie on top for its cleaner story, with this one in the middle and the second still fun.

There are so many references in the background that I know I missed plenty. Which ones did you spot, and where does this one rank for you among the three Deadpool films?
