Dragon Ball Super Resurrection F Anime Remake Is Basically Finished, Frieza Arc Update Reveals

Production on the shortened Resurrection F retelling is nearly done, the Beerus arc remains complete, and the Galactic Patrol arc is still early in the works.

There is a fresh update on the current wave of Dragon Ball Super anime projects, and the headline news is that the Resurrection F remake, sometimes called a reboot or a recut, is either fully complete or very close to it. That project is running six to seven episodes, though I have heard one source claim it could be five. I am skeptical of that lower number, but either way it is much shorter than the version that aired as part of the original 2015 Dragon Ball Super.

When I say the production is fully or near fully complete, I mean the visual side of things, the animation, is pretty much done, with some finishing touches and edits still to come. That part is allegedly finished. The audio side is murkier because I truthfully do not know where things stand there. Music tends to be one of the very last elements added, even after sound effects, and Toei has not yet announced who will compose the score for this recut of the early Dragon Ball Super arcs.

That silence is not unprecedented. When Dragon Ball Daima was in production, there was no formal composer announcement either. Kosuke Yamashita was revealed right before the first episode aired, with only bits of his music showing up in trailers ahead of that. My hope for this project is Norihito Sumitomo, because I think he really delivered on his later Dragon Ball Super work, especially the Goku Black arc, the Tournament of Power, and the Broly movie.

Beyond the music question, the Revival of Frieza story is finished well ahead of where the original 2015 production was at a comparable stage. To be clear, it is on schedule now, but I am comparing it to how mismatched and behind Dragon Ball Super's production famously was back then, mishaps that have been documented many times over the years. This version is moving along much more smoothly. Just as I reported months ago that the Beerus arc was complete, you can check the Resurrection F remake off the list too. We will be seeing Frieza again soon. On the manga side, though, there is unfortunately no update to share.

Dragon Ball Super Galactic Patrol Anime Is Still in Early Production, Not Ready for a New York Comic-Con Trailer

I want to debunk something circulating on social media: the idea that a trailer for the Galactic Patrol, the Moro arc anime, will show up at New York Comic-Con this October. As far as I have seen, that is not the case. The Moro arc anime is still very much in early production, not quite pre-production, but early. Right now the series planner and the directors are working together to figure out how to formulate each episode.

On the question of pacing, since the Dragon Ball Super manga is a monthly release rather than a weekly one like the original Dragon Ball or One Piece, each chapter runs longer than an average weekly chapter. My surmise is that the anime will adapt roughly two to three episodes per chapter, most likely two. As with most anime adapting from manga, I expect the staff to pad things out with a semblance of filler, probably longer fights and new dialogue, and hopefully some added lore that tells us more about Moro's backstory.

I will also say I have a major Moro update coming soon regarding his overall character, though I am not detailing it in this update.

Xenoverse 3 Comments Confirm Manga-Only Characters Like Moro and Ultra Ego Vegeta Are Staying Out of the Games

A spokesperson for Xenoverse 3 was recently asked about manga-only characters, and consistent with what has been reported before, until a character appears in the anime, they will not appear in the games. Do not expect to see Moro, Merus, Ultra Ego Vegeta, or similar characters until their respective anime arcs are out. The reason given is that the Dragon Ball Super manga is not translated into every language, so some markets simply do not have access to it.

It has effectively been confirmed through Bandai and Toei Animation that these manga-exclusive elements will not be incorporated into the games, and that includes Dokkan Battle / Dragon Ball Legends and all of the mobile games. None of these new characters or new forms will show up until their anime versions have aired.

Based on that, I am saying now that official playable versions of Moro and similar characters likely will not arrive until around 2028, since the Moro arc will still be ongoing into 2028, followed presumably by the Granolah arc, which has not been officially announced but seems safe to assume is coming next, and then Ultra Ego. Fan-made mods will exist as they always do, but officially, patience is required. I am just as impatient as anyone, since I have wanted to try Ultra Ego Vegeta in Sparking Zero and especially in Fighters, but I am not even sure it will make it into Fighters by that point, since a sequel could arrive first or the game may simply stop being updated. That is something I cannot answer yet.

When a Galactic Patrol Trailer Might Actually Arrive

I would not expect a full trailer for the Galactic Patrol arc until at the earliest this December, but more likely sometime in the first quarter of 2027. This is speculation on my part, based on conversations with third-hand and second-hand sources, so do not take it as certain. It could happen sooner, but from what I am hearing, the production simply is not ready yet.

I would compare this to how Dragon Ball Daima developed, originally conceived as a web series and a side story separate from Dragon Ball Super, which did not really take shape until several months into production.
