Lanterns Episode 7 Trailer Breakdown: Hal Jordan's Murder Mystery Meets Sinestro's Return

The teaser for The Jordan Boys Legacy hints at a fear-soaked nightmare world, a captured Sinestro, and a wild clone rumor worth addressing.

Published 23 September 2026. Words like "tonight" or "next week" refer to that date.

The Lanterns episode seven trailer is here, and it packs a lot into just 43 seconds. The teaser is heavily focused on Hal Jordan's murder, the mystery box from episode six, and Sinestro. From what I can tell, the episode looks set to dig into two men haunted by their fathers, fear, and the fear consuming others around them.

The episode arrived on September 27th, and according to the wiki, the title is The Jordan Boys Legacy. That title makes me think we are heading toward a young Hal Jordan, who has already been cast. I believe shots of him were shown in the mid-season trailer as the baseball boy, and we might get a flashback to his childhood similar to how the show explored John's past. I think we will also meet Hal's dad and see how his death affected him, alongside more of John's own father story.

The Storm Opening Ties the Jordans and Stewarts Together

The teaser opens in a storm with John floating in a boat, surrounded by objects that look like bobbing apples, which ties back to John's favorite pastime with his parents. John's dad's voice echoes through the air saying "Hey, Junior" and "Are you afraid, soldier?" That is not a throwaway line. It shows how John Senior's training still echoes through his core even in 2026, and hearing his voice tied to the thunder frames episode seven as something that connects not just to the Jordans but to the Stewarts as well.

We then see John looking shocked before the shot cuts to someone sitting with him on the boat. Zooming in closely, that turns out to be his father with an apple balanced on his head. Since we know Stewart Senior is in Comfort Cove, this has to be a hallucination. I think the whole area is one of those nightmare places that pulls on your worst fears, the kind you visit every night.

Is This a World Where Fear Has Taken Over Everything?

I do wonder if this location is a world where fear has overtaken everything. In the mid-season trailer, John and the hologram were shown walking through a yellow wilderness, with yellow representing the color of fear, complete with a destroyed city above them and alien skulls on the ground. It could be that this place has become infected with fear, and it might even be where Antan came from, with the characters retracing the steps of the Manhunters.

I think this could also be where they are holding Sinestro, since he was shown tied up in the mid-season preview. If that is the case, the fear-drenched wilderness and this nightmare boat journey could all be leading toward the same location.

Everyone in Rushville Hated Hal Jordan

After the title card, the hologram asks "So, who killed me?" and Kerry answers, "Could have been anyone," adding that the whole town hated Hal Jordan. We already saw glimpses of this in the mid-season look, including his house being set on fire and town locals giving him a side eye. Essentially, everyone in Rushville is a potential suspect.

From there, the trailer cuts to a truck driving through Rushville, passing the water tower that was destroyed earlier in the series. John and Hal then head to the box room that was the big mystery of episode six, and with the hologram's help, they can finally open it and see what is inside.

The Box Could Lead to a Pocket Dimension and the Fear Planet

Since the characters clearly end up somewhere else entirely, I think this will likely be a pocket dimension, which could then lead them to the fear planet. John will probably head out on that boat, and I think we will see the lighthouse in the distance that he is sailing toward. The mid-season trailer already showed Sinestro's tower, so it makes sense that this is what everyone is heading toward.

In the episode preview, the location has a lot of Star Wars vibes, with what looks like a container or structure going below the surface, its lid open with something glowing inside. Because of that glow and its similarity to yellow, I do wonder if this is where Sinestro has been camped out.

Sinestro Gets Captured

We see the hologram walking behind John before someone in a cloak appears and gets knocked down. Slowing that clip down and watching closely suggests this cloaked figure is Sinestro. I think this ties directly into the mid-season footage, and it looks like John captures him here and ties him up, which lines up with the earlier shot of Sinestro bound.

Addressing the Hal Jordan Clone Theory

There is a theory going around that Hal has been cloned, based on Spanish subtitles that reportedly label a line of dialogue as belonging to a "clone of Hal Jordan." I am not sure cloning is something the show would introduce this late in the game, and I think the shots we have seen of Hal captured are probably taking place before he was murdered rather than confirming a clone. That said, it would be a strange thing for the subtitles to give away, so it is one of those theories I think is too big now not to address, even if I am not convinced by it.

My Prediction for How Episode Seven Plays Out

Based on the clips, I think John is going to get the hologram and try to take him to the box, but probably wants to give Kerry some closure first by letting the sheriff say her goodbyes. After that, I think they head to the box, open it, and discover a way to travel to the nightmare world, which is likely where we get that yellow scene from the mid-season trailer before heading out on the boat.

From there, John will confront his past, and I think we could get flashes of Hal as a kid, though the trailer is fairly sparse on those specific details. I imagine the episode ends with John arriving at the island where Sinestro is hiding out, setting up a confrontation between a more idealistic past version of Hal and his mentor.

Could Parallax Show Up in This Episode?

There are also theories that Parallax could factor into this episode, and I think this alternate world would be a good place to introduce the villain into the DCU. The storm in the environment could be something the character manifests, though I am genuinely not sure whether that lines up with how the Green Lantern movie handled it versus the Fantastic Four film with Galactus, since I am not going back to rewatch either to confirm. I am curious what exactly Sinestro shows up to in this episode, and I wonder if there is a storyline where he is trying to bring Parallax back.

I also imagine this could be the episode that gives us the baseball clip of Hal and potentially his dad's funeral, which we know from leaks is going to happen at some point in the series. Those are my theories based on this teaser and what was shown in the mid-season material.

What do you think is really waiting for John on that island, and do you buy the Hal Jordan clone theory or not?
