Avengers: Doomsday final trailer: when is it releasing?

Marvel has started a new round of promotion for Avengers: Doomsday, and the final trailer is expected in mid November, according to an insider with a really good track record when it comes to trailers. I think this campaign is going to be quite different from what we've gotten in the past. Marvel appears to be keeping the film a mystery while building hype through posters, cast promos, character descriptions and press interviews.

Along with the trailer timing, there are new details about Sam Wilson's Avengers team, comments from Chris Pratt about Star-Lord's future, and a look at what Marvel seems to be doing with Doctor Doom.

The Avengers: Doomsday final trailer is expected in mid November

Many people expected the full final trailer for Avengers: Doomsday when Marvel teased that new material was coming. Instead, we got a baseball tie-in. That clip will be part of Avengers: Doomsday. It was shot for the movie, not for the MLB World Series, and it simply happened to fit with the broadcast. I know some people didn't like that this was all we got, plus a few extra seconds of clips with Thor and Steve.

The next trailer is a different story. Cryptic HD Quality, who has a good track record when it comes to trailers, says it's coming in mid November, and it sounds like other insiders have said the same. Even before Marvel promised new material, many people were saying they weren't hearing anything until mid November anyway. According to Cryptic, there are more promotional reveals on the way, with a promo releasing for Diwali week, which starts November 6th, and the trailer expected in mid November after that.

Cryptic also says we should get an exclusive look on Disney Plus. That's an obvious marketing tactic to get you to sign up for Disney Plus, or at least get you interested in it. Because it's described as exclusive, it sounds like Marvel might not show it online. It could be a specific trailer or specific scenes, but either way it sounds like something only for Disney Plus. If you don't have it, you might want to find a friend who does.

A trailer in mid November makes sense to me because that's a month from the movie. Releasing the final trailer a month before the film opens makes a lot of sense.

Marvel's Avengers: Doomsday promos so far: posters and a cast message

Promos have already started rolling out, just as Cryptic described. Marvel released many posters for Avengers: Doomsday this week, along with a short cast promo featuring a few cast members, including Simu Liu, who plays Shang-Chi, and Hayley Atwell, who plays Peggy Carter. In it, they're talking about Doomsday while saying they can't say anything, except that tickets are on sale.

So the plan looks like this: the Diwali week promo, then a trailer in mid November, and at some point a new look on Disney Plus. Promotion is coming, but I think it will look quite different.

Why I think Marvel needs to hype Avengers: Doomsday a bit more without spoiling it

I don't think Marvel is going to reveal a lot for Avengers: Doomsday, and I think that's okay. Don't get me wrong, I want to see more, because I want the hype to go up. I feel like a percentage of the audience that's going to see Doomsday needs a bit more. If you're not involved in the fandom like we are, you might not realize how big a deal this movie is. For the casual audience, they might not realize everything that's happening, and this movie is going to be multiverse changing.

You don't have to give stuff away to do that. Spider-Man: Brand New Day showed way too much of Spider-Man fighting the Hulk, and Captain America: Brave New World showed way too much of Captain America fighting the Hulk. We don't need to see too much. What would work is a few cool scenes that don't give the movie away, like the scene of Doom stopping Thor, throwing Stormbreaker to the side and then throwing Thor aside. Something else like that would be really cool.

Based on what Marvel is doing, it sounds like much of what we're going to get will probably come through the press.

Anthony Mackie says Sam Wilson is getting the Avengers back together

A good example is what Anthony Mackie recently said about the new Avengers team. Keep in mind this is planned. When actors are doing promotion for this movie, they're told what to say. Mackie described Cap coming off the heels of Brave New World and being invested in getting the Avengers together. "You find him literally months after coming into this new expedition and getting the Avengers back together, getting the crew back together," he said.

So Sam has already started to get his Avengers team back together, offscreen. We knew that for a while. Marvel also gave us a description for Captain America and Falcon in Avengers: Doomsday, which reads: "Sam Wilson has assembled the Avengers and leads this diverse group of heroes as they face the collision between three different universes." It also says Joaquin Torres is back in action alongside Captain America's Avengers, as the new Falcon who took on that mantle in Captain America: Brave New World.

Sam Wilson's Avengers team is not that strong against Doctor Doom

Describing them as a diverse group of heroes is an interesting choice, because they're not that strong. I've seen so many memes of Thor looking distressed and bummed out at the new Avengers team. Not many of the new Avengers have powers. Yelena Belova has no powers, though Black Widow didn't either. Red Guardian doesn't have the same super soldier serum as Steve and Bucky, so the quality isn't on par. There's John Walker, but even super soldiers against Doctor Doom? What are they going to do? Nothing.

There are some heavy hitters. Ant-Man technically doesn't have powers, just his suits, but Shang-Chi has the Ten Rings. Still, it's nowhere near the old Avengers. With the new Avengers team combining with the Thunderbolts, did they ever stand a chance against Doom? Probably not. Steve, Thor, Shang-Chi, and maybe Ant-Man shrinking down and popping up to hit him, maybe they'd stand a chance, but our Avengers couldn't do anything alone.

That's why the Fantastic Four and now the X-Men matter. That's how it's going to be a fight, and it's definitely going to take all three teams. When the description mentions three different universes, we know that means the main 616 universe, the Fantastic Four's universe and the X-Men universe.

Chris Pratt says Star-Lord will return to the MCU

Chris Pratt also did some recent promotion with Variety, and for those who want Star-Lord back, you can expect to see him again. When is the question. Pratt said he has a great relationship with Kevin Feige and Louis D'Esposito, and that there have been ongoing conversations, and action taken, about making good on the promise at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 that the legendary Star-Lord will return. "So, yeah, you'll see Star-Lord again, which is very exciting, but I'm not at liberty to say when that's going to be, but he's not going anywhere," he said.

That makes it sound like he has quite a decent future left in the MCU. There have been big rumors about him returning in Avengers: Doomsday. Originally, the word was that there would be a scene of heroes protecting Avengers Tower, who would ultimately go to the Fantastic Four's universe to help fight Doctor Doom. Some insiders have said that scene might have been removed, and we're unsure at this point. I think Star-Lord was supposed to be part of it.

That would make sense. He's on Earth, and if he sees news or things happening in the sky, he's going to check whether the Avengers need help. He knows who they are, and I think everybody will know where they are in New York. It makes sense he'd join the fight to protect Earth, where he now lives. Will the rest of the Guardians show up? There have been rumors, but nothing is confirmed, so we really don't know.

Star-Lord's future after Avengers: Secret Wars

If Star-Lord isn't in Avengers: Doomsday, I definitely think he's going to return in Avengers: Secret Wars no matter what, and it sounds like he's probably going to continue past Secret Wars. We've heard that Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, has big plans for the cosmic side of the MCU.

I think Star-Lord will go on to interact with Nova, and perhaps Nova becomes part of a new Guardians of the Galaxy team. I also think they're going to do an Annihilation event, where many cosmic heroes come together to fight Annihilus, who I think is one of the big villains coming for the cosmic side. I think Chris Pratt has a lot more Star-Lord left and will play him a lot longer.

The Avengers: Doomsday posters put Doctor Doom front and center

The new posters look amazing, and many of them look really cool. This is Marvel telling us Doom is aura farming. They're saying: look at Doom, look how cool he is, he's the new villain, and Doomsday is about Doctor Doom. He looks awesome, and it looks like they're finally doing Doctor Doom right.

It's funny that they're not revealing anything, though. There was no new material in the posters, and the cast teaser had none either. I think Marvel is trying to keep Doomsday a mystery while still building hype, which is why they're releasing little things along the way: the cast message, the posters and the character descriptions, including one for Doom. It's ramping up, and it's going to ramp up even more, but don't be surprised if it's different from what we've gotten from Marvel Studios in the past.

I'm excited. We're less than two months away, closer to a month, and it's really close. I hope we get not necessarily big reveals, but some really cool scenes to hype everybody up for Doomsday.

I think Marvel once planned a 616 Illuminati, likely Wong, Carol Danvers, Bruce Banner, Sam Wilson, Namor, Valkyrie, Kingo and a Wakandan rep, and I believe Avengers: Doomsday may have been meant to open with Doctor Doom brutally slaughtering them, possibly sparing Sam Wilson.

I'm unsure if this rumored opening (Tobey's Spider-Man and Doc Ock battling the Fox X-Men, ending in Tobey's universe being destroyed) is real, but if true I think it would be brilliant, and I believe Tobey is confirmed to return, though I doubt he dies in the very opening.

It is unconfirmed. A viral official-looking poster is fake AI art, and a repost by Olsen's longtime stunt double Jennifer White of a real ScreenX witches poster only fuels speculation, since White has also worked on Marvel projects unrelated to Wanda. Industry insider Daniel RPK has reportedly named Olsen as returning.
