Five reported Avengers: Doomsday scenes, including a Tobey Maguire Spider-Man reveal
New reports point to a daughter for Peter Parker, X-Men deaths in flashbacks, Jane Foster's return, Star-Lord versus magical robots and a Thor and Sam Wilson fight with Doctor Doom
Five new scenes have reportedly surfaced for Avengers: Doomsday, and I'm starting with the Spider-Man one: Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man will reportedly mention that he has a daughter during the film's reported opening. If these scenes happen, it's going to be epic, but also kind of tragic, and I think some of these reports are going to make some fans shed some tears, even fans who don't typically do that.
Spoiler alert: if you're trying to avoid anything for Avengers: Doomsday, this piece talks about the reported opening scene and more. Further down, I'll also get to a reported Star-Lord battle I did not see coming, and a display that has Sam Wilson squaring up to Doctor Doom.
Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man reportedly mentions a daughter as his universe faces destruction
The reported opening scene is between Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, who are kind of the main people there. They're going to fight each other. Wolverine has a bomb from the X-Men universe to destroy Tobey Maguire's universe. The rest of the X-Men are reportedly going to be there too, like Magneto, and Ian McKellen kind of spoiled that in a talk show when he said that he was there destroying New Jersey. We believe that is at the beginning of this movie.
The X-Men go to Spider-Man's universe and they basically have to destroy it because it's about to collide with theirs. In order for their universe to live, they have to kill his. Unfortunately for Peter, it seems like it's just him and maybe Doc Ock, from what we've heard, and that alone is not enough to defeat a whole team of X-Men, especially a team that has basically been through other incursions before and has literally developed a bomb to kill an entire universe.
That setup isn't the new part. The new scene is that Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man will reportedly mention that he has a daughter. The reason that is so sad is that his universe gets destroyed. Logically, I think that would mean his MJ and his daughter, who could be Mayday Parker, could die. Could things be resurrected at the end of Avengers: Secret Wars? It's totally possible.
In fact, I really hope the old Fox X-Men and the legacy characters like Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man, and even Wesley Snipes' Blade, who did get somewhat of a redemption in Deadpool & Wolverine, all get a happy ending. Even if they die at some point in Doomsday and Secret Wars, I hope they create a specific universe, or universes, for them at the end and bring back their loved ones. I really don't want to watch Spider-Man survive because Loki or the TVA saves him, then sit with the fact that he is the only survivor from his universe, including his wife and child. That would be absolutely tragic. And if he's telling it to Wolverine and the X-Men, pleading that he has a daughter who's there, "that's going to be hard to watch. It's going to be really hard to watch."
A reported flashback could show X-Men members killed in earlier incursions
According to the same insider, James Mack, there's also going to be a flashback that shows other X-Men members being killed during other incursions. You don't have to think back very far for context, because one of the new scenes shown to us with Avengers Endgame Encore was the TVA scene, which, I'm going to say it every time, was epic. I think it really sets the tone for Avengers: Doomsday, and it showed us literally two universes.
One was the X-Men universe firing missiles, and it wasn't just them. Another universe was firing missiles as well, the two trying to destroy each other. So the X-Men have gone through incursions already, and it seems like other universes might have as well. They've been through a lot, and it just makes sense that some of the X-Men are going to die.
Perhaps some of the X-Men characters who have not been announced for Doomsday haven't been announced not because they're being saved for cameos, although I'm sure we're going to get some of that, but because they're actually dead. They'd still be in the movie through flashbacks, just not in the current time. That could be why Famke Janssen's Jean Grey isn't there. Halle Berry's Storm might not be there either, although she is an Omega level mutant and I would really love to see her return. They could also cast some really cool celebrities as cameos in these flashbacks, but that's going to be pretty tragic too.
We haven't heard anything about Iceman, Bobby. Maybe he dies in a flashback, trying to fight heroes or villains from other universes in some of the original incursions. I also wonder how it's going to look for their very first incursion, because obviously they're not going to know what to do too much, unless Hank McCoy's Beast has really been doing his homework on what might happen. That'll be really interesting. There are going to be some deaths in this movie, and some are going to be pretty tragic. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that Peter's daughter does not die, and hopefully MJ as well.
Jane Foster is reportedly returning for the final battle
Another reported scene is that Jane Foster will return for the final battle. Since we've been hearing a lot about Thor calling to Odin for an army and Valhalla sending an army, this makes sense. I think she just shows up with that army from Valhalla.
I think it would be kind of cool to see a version of Loki there as well, because I think he would be in Valhalla. We'll have to wait and see, because there are technicalities, like whether he's really an Asgardian and whether he would really go to Valhalla. But I would like to think the original one from our timeline will be there. Odin could come, Heimdall too. There's a lot of really cool things that could happen in that scene, and I think it would be obvious for Jane Foster to return in it.
Star-Lord reportedly battles magical robots while a planet nears Earth
Again coming from James Mack, Peter Quill will reportedly return. We've seen the leaked concept art for Avengers: Secret Wars with Quill and Vision, we know he's going to return in some way, shape or form, and right now he is on Earth. Plus, Marvel Studios said at the end of Guardians 3 that the legendary Star-Lord will return. Keep in mind, they did not say the Guardians of the Galaxy would return, just Star-Lord.
We've heard some reports that the Guardians might show up as well. There's also a new deodorant promotion tied to Avengers: Doomsday that shows a woman working the front desk at the new Avengers Tower. She's on the phone and mentions Groot, spelling out his name. It could mean nothing because it's part of an ad, but it's a Doomsday promo, so it could mean the Guardians will be involved in some way. Regardless, it looks like Star-Lord is going to be in the film, since this isn't the first time we've heard he'll be returning.
According to James Mack, he is going to be in a battle with magical robots while a planet is about to collide directly with Earth, which is kind of the whole premise of the movie. A magical robot has Doombot written all over it. So does Star-Lord join the final battle, go to Latveria with everybody else and fight Doombots infused with magic? Sounds like that's probably the case.
We also heard at one point that the Avengers Tower would be attacked, but another report said that might have been removed, so it's unclear and not confirmed. If it does happen, I think it would make sense for Star-Lord to see something on TV and take it upon himself to help the defenders of Earth, since he's worked with the Avengers before in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. It just makes perfect sense to me. Star-Lord fighting magical Doombots wasn't on my bingo card, but I'm really excited that it is there.
A Comic Con display reportedly shows Thor and Sam Wilson fighting Doctor Doom
The last one was revealed at New York Comic Con, where there was reportedly an action figure display showing Thor and Sam Wilson fighting Doctor Doom together. We know both of them are going to be in the same scene in the X-Men universe, where the Sentinels attack and then they fight Doom. We've already seen that.
This one is kind of funny to me, because as much as I like him, what's Sam going to do against Doctor Doom? Doom literally soloed Thor. He stopped Stormbreaker with two fingers and threw it to the side like it was nothing, and threw Thor to the side like it was nothing. Sam is just a guy now. He's probably going to have some vibranium upgrades, or at least I would hope so. Let's be honest, Sam, like a lot of the Avengers, doesn't stand a chance against Doom. The only way they stay in the fight is if the more powerful ones distract Doom while they do something behind the scenes, or they're fighting Doombots.
I'm really curious to see the Sentinel scene, because someone who doesn't have a shield to protect them is going to be in a lot of danger. Granted, there are people around who can help, like Thor, who can take the blast and shield some people, and Captain America's shield can shield some people too. We'll have to wait and see. I get it with Sam, though: I would do it too and run up to try to fight him. We've heard there are going to be some deaths. I don't know if Sam Wilson dies, but a lot of these characters can't really do anything against Doom, and without Thor, Cyclops or Magneto fighting alongside them, they're in for a bad time.
I'm excited for these scenes, and I think some are going to be pretty tragic. I really don't want to see the Spider-Man one come to fruition. I think it might, though, because we've been told the opening scene is really going to set the tone and that this is going to be the darkest Marvel movie we've ever gotten. Opening with Peter's universe dying with his wife and daughter in it would set that tone.
Which of these five reported scenes are you most hoping to see on screen?
