Alleged Avengers: Secret Wars plot leak makes Loki the key to beating Doom and sends the X-Men home
An unconfirmed leak describes a medieval Battleworld, a resistance of heroes who remember, a casino Asgard, and an ending I really do not believe.
An alleged plot leak for Avengers: Secret Wars lays out the whole story. A year passes on Doom's Battleworld, a small resistance remembers the old world, and Loki turns out to be the only one who can take back the power Doom stole. When I wrote this in early July 2026, nobody could confirm whether the leak was legitimate. I went through it anyway, because a lot of exciting things had been leaking around then and had proven true, so this might be another accurate one.
People were split on it. Some said they really liked it and some said they did not. Articles were being written about it too, including one whose title read "Alleged Secret Wars plot leak could pave the way for one Marvel character's long-awaited debut." That character is Beta Ray Bill, and if he appears I will be so happy, because it is long overdue. Later in this piece I explain why the final battle is the perfect place for him. I also explain why I do not buy the leak's ending.
Avengers: Doomsday reportedly ends with Doom winning and building Battleworld
Based on what we knew about Avengers: Doomsday, it ends with Doom winning, and then everyone kind of dies. I say kind of because he reportedly resurrects them and puts them on Battleworld. The multiverse is destroyed and Doom is the only one left. He creates Battleworld, brings everybody back, and nobody remembers the past. I think that is what a lot of people were expecting.
The alleged Secret Wars leak picks up from there. Again, it is not confirmed. According to the leak, a year has passed since Doom formed Battleworld. Most of its residents have no idea the old world existed, with only a few exceptions.
Battleworld is medieval and feudal, in a pretty comic-esque way
Everyone on Battleworld believes it has always existed. The leak describes the place as medieval and feudal in nature. People's past lives have been rewritten into roles: barons, rulers, and citizens of the different domains. Barons are straight out of the comics, and this whole setup is pretty Secret Wars comic-esque.
We had already seen leaked concept art for Secret Wars showing a medieval setting. So this part seems to line up with what we knew and with what the comics have shown us. I like this part a lot.
Three Spider-Men, Jean Grey and Wolverine are among those who remember
According to the leak, all three Spider-Men remember the old world. So do Namor, the Young Avengers, Vision, She-Hulk, Deadpool, Sadie Sink's Jean Grey, Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, Reed Richards and Sentry. They form a resistance once they realise Doom is not just a ruler. He is the engine of reality itself. Battleworld exists because Doom actively maintains it using Loki's stolen power.
What's interesting is that the leak does not say how these people survive. Maybe they don't survive. Maybe they are simply on Battleworld and happen to remember. I can see how the spider sense might help Peter Parker remember. I can see how Jean Grey's telepathy would help her, and maybe Wolverine's regenerative powers could help him, and Deadpool as well. Or maybe they escape into the Quantum Realm or the Void. We'll have to wait and see, because the leak gives no specifics.
Either way, I like this group surviving. It's a good group of people. Most of them probably won't have huge roles in Avengers: Doomsday, with the exception of Reed Richards and Sentry.
The resistance travels the domains, echoing Valeria Richards in the comics
The leak says the resistance breaks into Battleworld's domains. They split up and travel through different domains, each acting as a broken patch of an old universe. I really like that. They search for weaknesses in Doom's structure and recruit allies who are beginning to glitch, regaining memories or questioning reality.
That is kind of what happens with Valeria Richards in the Secret Wars comics. She believes Doctor Doom is her father and the rightful ruler of Battleworld. It all starts to change when Doom kills Doctor Strange for betraying him, and that is when she begins to question everything. So again, it lines up, with a lot of inspiration from the comics.
Doom's forces include the Thor Corps, Sheriff Strange and a powerless Yelena
According to the leak, Doom commands an army of Thors, the Thor Corps. In the Secret Wars comic they are basically the police force. Doctor Strange is his second in command. We had already seen leaked concept art of that: Sheriff Strange by Doom's side while he sits on the throne, with Sue Storm and Franklin Richards on his other side. Doom also has a coven of witches and, of course, Loki's stolen power. All of that lines up with what we had heard.
Yelena serves as his third in command, even though she has no powers. We had seen concept art of this as well, with Yelena bringing somebody on a chain before Doctor Doom. Sentry, meanwhile, is taken and held captive under lock and key.
Doom keeps Steve Rogers' memory intact as revenge
Another key figure Doom keeps is Steve Rogers. He is the only person whose memory Doom deliberately preserves. According to the leak, Doom hates Steve and wants him to witness the victory: Doom has won and built a new family, while Steve has lost everything.
Remember that in Doomsday, Steve is reportedly responsible for the death of Doctor Doom's family. So Doom doing this as a petty form of revenge makes so much sense for the character. I kind of like it because it is very Doctor Doom. Making Steve suffer by remembering, while everything around him is new and everyone he knows and loves is completely different, is "pretty diabolical." I like it.
She-Hulk, Deadpool and the Young Avengers turn Doom's forces against him
Instead of attacking Doctor Doom directly, the resistance focuses on turning his forces against him. She-Hulk gathers the Hulks. Deadpool manages to restore Thor's memory, which I really like. Why is Thor crying? Hopefully we get that. The Young Avengers unite the mutant population, and you can see how making Ms. Marvel a mutant might come into play there. That's cool.
Tom Holland's Spider-Man rallies New York. Reed Richards gathers the remaining members of the Future Foundation, which is interesting. It's clearly going to be set up differently than it was in The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Loki is the only one who can steal Doom's power back
Meanwhile, Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man, Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Steve Rogers, who escapes Doom's prison with Yelena's help, set out to find Loki. Since Doom restored everyone, Loki is alive too, and according to the leak he is the only one capable of stealing Doom's powers.
If this is accurate, it is finally making a bit of sense to me. I don't like that Loki had such an integral part in the multiverse in Loki seasons 1 and 2, and then in Doomsday it doesn't sound like he will play much of a role. It even sounds like he might die. I didn't like that, but this makes me feel much better. He's there, and he's the only one who can take Doom's power. That brings back the story we got in seasons 1 and 2, which is what I really love.
A casino Asgard, Loki as manager and a drunk Tony Stark
Loki is found in an Asgardian domain that has become a casino, a shady, corrupt version of Asgard. There the heroes encounter Sylvie, Mobius, O.B. and other TVA members working in the casino. Loki is the manager, but he refuses to believe their story and throws them out.
At their lowest point, they discover someone unexpected, and here the story takes a pretty cool turn. It's Tony Stark. He is a miserable drunk, gambling his life away in the casino, and at first he refuses to join them. Eventually they convince him, and then they convince Loki as well.
The final battle is the perfect moment for Beta Ray Bill
In the final battle, armies from across Battleworld gather to storm Doom's castle. Thor and the Hulks fight the army of Thors, which will be cool. Sam leads the resistance against the witches, the Doombots and the rest of Doom's forces.
Some people think this is where we could finally see Beta Ray Bill, because of the Thor Corps. I think it is the perfect opportunity to introduce him. "Like, why would you not?" We've been waiting for Beta Ray Bill. The only reason I can see is that Marvel might want to save him for the next chapter of the MCU after Secret Wars, when we are in the new soft rebooted MCU. Still, if you have a bunch of different Thors, you should throw Beta Ray Bill in there. It makes perfect sense, and I don't see why they wouldn't.
Many of the characters who look set to be main players in Secret Wars might not even be in Avengers: Doomsday. When I wrote this, nobody knew whether characters like Tom Holland's Spider-Man and the Hulk would appear in it.
Loki reclaims the stolen power and restores the multiverse
According to the leak, Reed Richards, Yellowjacket, Sue (who now remembers everything), Steve Rogers, Hulk, She-Hulk, Tom Holland's Spider-Man, Sentry, Loki, Iron Man, Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man all confront Doom directly. Doom overwhelms them and defeats them brutally, and they are nearly killed.
Reed and Sue try to reason with him. They tell him he is grieving for his family and that Battleworld is not the answer. He is briefly convinced, but he ultimately rejects it and attacks them again. They are saved at the last moment by Tobey, Hugh and Tony, who hold Doom off long enough for Loki to reclaim the stolen power and restore the multiverse. Everything returns to normal. Loki returns to his throne, but first he says a final goodbye to Thor and his TVA friends.
The leak sends the X-Men and Fantastic Four back to their own realities
Everyone is sent back to their original universes. Deadpool, Wolverine, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four return to their own realities and do not join the MCU. The leak says it is unclear what this means for the future, and the MCU continues as it was before.
The TVA later gets Steve, Peggy and their son, who are alive again in a new universe, one where they existed but died, to prevent an incursion from happening again. Before leaving, Steve asks the TVA for one last favour. Years later, an old Steve Rogers is visited by the TVA, who bring him back to Earth-616 at the end of Endgame so he can pass the shield to Sam. After a final goodbye to Sam and Bucky, he returns with the TVA to the reality where Peggy and his son live. That is where the leak ends.
I think much of this will happen, but not this ending
This seems decently aligned with what we had heard, but I doubt some parts of it. I think a decent amount of it will happen in Avengers: Secret Wars. "I will say the ending, no. Doesn't make sense." It really doesn't, unless Marvel has some grand plan we know nothing about. From what Kevin Feige had already said, we are getting a soft rebooted universe, and the X-Men, the Fantastic Four and the Avengers are all going to be in the same universe. That's going to happen no matter what.
So I don't think this ending will happen, and to be perfectly clear, I don't want it to. I think Battleworld from Secret Wars should become the new universe, or a new timeline, or they should redo things and get a completely new universe at the end. Whether that happens with Franklin Richards, Loki and Reed Richards doing it, kind of like the comics, who knows.
A Robert Downey Jr. Iron Man against his own Doctor Doom
I think another Tony Stark and Iron Man appearing would be pretty cool. At some point we should have Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom against Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man. It's right there, so why not do it? In my opinion it would also be cool to have Robert Downey Jr. playing both a hero and a villain, as a main character on both sides. Some people might not like that, but I think it could be pretty cool if it's done well.
Overall, this is kind of what I expect from Secret Wars. I've been saying for a while that people won't remember things. Groups who do remember will go around recruiting heroes, trying to get them to remember and explaining the situation, and eventually they attack Doom. Like in the comics, they have to find a way to steal the power from Doctor Doom. In the comics it's Reed. Here it looks like Loki, which makes sense, since it seemed Doom would take powers from Loki in Doomsday. So Loki takes them back. I like all of that, and I think it will happen.
Keep in mind that even if this is accurate, Marvel could change it. We were a very long way from Secret Wars, and I wouldn't be surprised if it changes. I also wouldn't be surprised if Marvel put this out themselves to gauge how people feel. If so, change the ending.
Should Secret Wars really send the X-Men and the Fantastic Four back to their own realities, or should Battleworld become the new shared universe?
