Avengers: Doomsday Product Reveals Show Doctor Doom Taking Down the Fantastic Four

New Marvel product images show Doom choking Reed Richards, standing over a defeated Thing, and moving heroes like chess pieces, and they raise new questions about where the fight happens in the film.

Marvel is revealing new scenes from Avengers: Doomsday in some unusual ways, and I am here for it. Its countdown to an Avengers: Doomsday product reveal week has already produced some big ones, including Doctor Doom fighting three quarters of the Fantastic Four, plus a striking new look at Doom's suit.

There is a lot to go over here: what the armor Doom is wearing tells us about when this fight happens, why I do not think Johnny Storm is dead, and why one image of Doom with Reed Richards gives me real comfort about the story.

Marvel's product reveal week offers a great new look at Doctor Doom's suit

Marvel announced the countdown on its official Instagram account, saying product reveal week was starting later that day, and it is already under way. Alongside the Fantastic Four images there is a new look at Doctor Doom, and it is a really great one. You get detailed views of his suit, and it looks fantastic. I really do love this suit. I think they finally nailed it on screen.

I still wonder what the wrap around his arm is. Some people are theorizing that it could be something his mother gave him, possibly enchanted with some type of magic from her before she died. We will have to wait and see.

Doom fights Reed, Sue and The Thing in armor that does not look built for combat

The new scene of Doom versus the Fantastic Four is intense. The first thing you will notice is that Johnny Storm is not there. This reveals a lot, but it also opens up new questions, starting with what Doom is wearing. This is not the suit we have seen. It seems to be his royal armor, or the political suit he wears when he is operating as the ruler of Latveria. If he showed up at a Future Foundation meeting, this is what he would wear. I would not call it a combat suit, and yet in this scene he is fighting the Fantastic Four in it.

That makes me wonder which scene this is. I do not think it takes place in the X-Men universe, because Sue Storm and The Thing are not there. Based on everything we know, Sue Storm and The Thing stay back in Wakanda, and the trailer has already shown both of them there. So this is not part of the Avengers versus X-Men fight.

I am not sure it is the ending either. I think Doom will be wearing the other suit in the final battle, the one we got the new look at today, because it is more suited to combat. So this might happen somewhere in the middle of the movie. To me that shows there is a lot about the film we do not know yet, which is fantastic.

Why I do not think Johnny Storm is dead

Only Mr. Fantastic, The Thing and the Invisible Woman appear here, and a lot of people think Johnny Storm might be dead. I do not think so. There is a scene in the trailer showing Johnny with Franklin. So I honestly think the logic is simple: Reed, Sue and Ben go fight Doom, and somebody has to watch the kid. Somebody has to watch Franklin, and I think that just comes down to Johnny.

I think almost every fight with Doom leads to deaths, but Battleworld could bring them back

Do I think everyone will eventually die in this movie? I do. I think that is just how it ends. There will be deaths throughout the film, and I think fights with Doom will almost always lead into deaths. When they go and fight in the X-Men universe, and to be clear this is not a scoop, just me theorizing and speculating, I think Mystique dies and Nightcrawler dies. Maybe Falcon dies if he is there, though I think he is probably in Wakanda. I think we probably get deaths in each scene where there is a fight with Doom.

Hopefully none of the Fantastic Four actually die, or hopefully everyone in the Fantastic Four is resurrected on Battleworld, because I believe that is how it ends. Everybody dies, but the vast majority get resurrected and put on Battleworld, and then we go into Secret Wars.

I do think Franklin might be able to protect Johnny and himself somehow at the end. Even if they die, they are going to be brought back, because I think Franklin's powers are going to play an important role in either Doomsday or Secret Wars. It could be both, but I think it is probably going to be one or the other.

Doom chokes Mr. Fantastic and stands on a defeated Thing

One image shows Doom choking Mr. Fantastic. Another is pretty wild: he is literally stepping on a defeated Thing, who looks to be face down, and it actually looks like Mr. Fantastic is under him too. This is actual imagery coming straight from Marvel, since it is a collaboration with Marvel.

I wonder if he would hurt Sue. Since she is attacking him, maybe. But I think he would be kindest to her, because in the last trailer Sue seemed to really get along with Victor. She said a lot of great things about him and called him the smartest guy in every room, which seems to put him above her husband, Reed Richards, who is supposed to be the smartest man alive. That is really cool.

The Reed and Doom image eases one of my biggest concerns about Avengers: Doomsday

The scene of Doom choking Reed and just holding him gives me great comfort and excitement, because it clearly shows there is some type of relationship between Doom and Reed Richards. That has been one of my biggest concerns going into Avengers: Doomsday. They need that backstory for Doom. I have been preaching this since we found out about Doom in Fantastic Four: First Steps, saying they have to do the backstory between Reed Richards and Doctor Doom. I really want them to have gone to college together and for that rivalry to have started there.

It does not seem like they are going to do the comics story where Doom builds a device to communicate with his mother in the hell dimension, and it explodes after Reed tells him he has miscalculated, scarring his face. It sounds like his face might get scarred a bit differently in the MCU. Still, I think that relationship between Reed and Victor is really important, and clearly they have one, because Sue was speaking so specifically, and in such high regard, about Doom.

So I think there is a rivalry between Reed and Doom, but still a connection between Sue and Doom. In the comics they have really good connections. Doom is the one who helps Sue deliver her and Reed's daughter, Valeria, when Sue was probably going to die. Doom even got to choose the name, and he named her after a love he had when he was younger.

I think Doom needs to wipe the floor with everybody

This also shows that Doom is going to wipe the floor with the Fantastic Four, and honestly, I think that needs to happen. I think Doom needs to wipe the floor with everybody until the final scene, when everyone comes together to fight him. That is when he struggles a little. But ultimately, I believe he is going to win.

It is really interesting that everything they are revealing appears to be actual scenes from Doomsday. There are images of Doom with the Sentinels, and Thor bursting through a Sentinel head with Stormbreaker and Mjolnir, which we know is going to happen in the movie.

A new Lego chessboard set backs up the leaked Avengers: Doomsday photos

Then there is a new one from Lego. Marvel says of the set that "the move is made, but Doom is just getting started." If you recall, leaked photos from Avengers: Doomsday got out what feels like over a year ago, showing Doom looking at a chessboard where the pieces were all heroes: Avengers, X-Men and the Fantastic Four. It is all according to his plan. He is making the moves and watching everything happen. This reinforces those leaked photos, which have been proven real at this point.

I believe at some point they will probably show that Doom can step outside the multiverse to observe it. My leading theory is a place from the comics that exists outside of space and time, where you can access any universe. I do not know if they will go this deep, though I think they should, but you can access not only any universe there but any point in time in that universe. That matters: if Doom goes into the 616 MCU now, Tony Stark is not there, but if he goes back in time, Tony Stark is.

Maybe that comes into play with the fact that Tony Stark and Victor Von Doom look exactly alike. You have to imagine they will address that at some point. The more the Russo brothers say, the more I feel there will not be a super direct connection, but I think there needs to be some kind of connection or at least a reason they look the same. We will have to wait and see.

One theory says Doomsday has already happened and Doom is recalling it

I heard a theory recently that Doomsday might have already happened, and we are seeing Doom recall everything. It would end with Battleworld already created, with Doom recapping how he got to where he is now: God Emperor Doom ruling over Battleworld. That would be an interesting way to tell it.

Regardless, it is the same story. Doom is responsible for the destruction of the multiverse. He is destroying it himself so he can remake it exactly how he wants, because the Avengers have ruined it. They have caused incursions and set off a domino effect that makes them responsible for its destruction. I think that is what Doomsday is about, and why Doom views himself as a hero. I think he believes it is too late to save it, so he accelerates the destruction by destroying universes himself and then reshapes the one universe how he thinks it should be.

Only Thor and Steve Rogers are left standing on Doom's board

Look closely at the Lego image and a lot of the pieces are tilted over: Mr. Fantastic, Cyclops, Yelena Belova and The Thing. The only two heroes left standing are Thor and Steve Rogers, with the Sentinels in the background and Doom looking over it all. It seems to show that the X-Men, Avengers and Fantastic Four fighting the Sentinels in the X-Men universe is part of Doom's plan, with Doom using the Sentinels against them.

I think Doom is a lot smarter than many people realize, but we will have to wait for the movie to see what really happens. In the meantime, these new looks are incredible. I buy figures sparingly, and it takes something really great, but I think these are ones I am going to buy.

Do you think Doom's royal armor means this Fantastic Four fight happens in the middle of the movie, or could it be somewhere else entirely?
