Avengers: Doomsday Doom Teaser Reportedly Carried a Fear Rating Label

Finnish ratings revealed the runtimes of the Doomsday teasers, alongside rumors about Ant-Man's fate and Nicolas Cage's Ghost Rider

The Doctor Doom teaser for Avengers: Doomsday was reportedly given a fear label, suggesting it would be frightening for younger audiences. I'm assuming that means we'd get a look at Doom's scarred face. There was plenty more doing the rounds alongside it: a rumor about which hero might die, a reported Ghost Rider cameo, and talk of several Marvel worlds colliding.

The Finnish ratings board reportedly rated the Doomsday teasers

Avengers: Doomsday was doing four teaser trailers ahead of Avatar: Fire and Ash. The first was Steve Rogers returning. The second was reportedly Thor, the third reportedly Doctor Doom, and the fourth reportedly an overall teaser trailer.

The ratings information came from the Finnish ratings board, which rated the trailers and listed how long they ran. The second Doomsday teaser was reportedly one minute and 39 seconds long. The third, the Doctor Doom one, was reportedly one minute and nine seconds long. It was the only one to carry a PEGI label for fear, which is meant to indicate that the content is frightening or contains scary elements for younger audiences.

I gave these reports weight because they had already been confirmed by the first teaser, which was about Steve Rogers as reported. Some people said they hadn't seen it in theaters even though they went. It wasn't playing at every theater chain, but I had seen it, and so had many of the people I talked to. With the Steve Rogers report already confirmed, I assumed the Doom report was real as well.

Why I think the fear label points to Doctor Doom's scarred face

When I hear scary or frightening, I think scar. I'm assuming we'd get a look at Doctor Doom's face, his scarred face. I don't know if they would show how he got it. I think it would be great if the teaser offered some backstory for Doom, but it's still a teaser, so they weren't going to give us everything. It does sound like they would show his face, and that might be a very frightening thing to see if you're a younger audience, say ten years old.

Maybe they'd also show an incursion of some sort. We know Doom loses his family in Avengers: Doomsday. That's part of his backstory. He had a wife and a kid, and he loses them. By that I mean they die. He isn't going to find them somewhere else in the multiverse; those exact variants die. Maybe they show an incursion happening, with everything crashing down, and that could be scary for some younger audiences too.

Since the trailer is all about him, it makes sense that this would be the first reveal. It's still a little weird that it wasn't coming in a full official trailer and that they were doing one just for him. But if we were getting our first look at Doom, as I assumed, I'm here for it.

Thor's prayer ties into a fatherhood theme

The Thor teaser features him saying this: "Of all the crowns, the kingdoms, the pride, I ask for none. Father, hear your son. I am not worthy of life, but still I beg you to let the thread lengthen. Not for thunder, not for war. Let me remain long enough to see my love once more." I love this. He's talking about Love, his daughter.

I bring this up because a theme, or at least a big theme, of Avengers: Doomsday is parenthood and fatherhood. Thor has his daughter, Love. Doctor Doom had his kid and his love. Franklin is the son of Reed and Sue. Tony Stark had Morgan, though I'm not sure if that will come into play.

A rumor says Ant-Man might die and bring the Young Avengers together

The reason I mention fatherhood is a rumor, and I'm calling it only a rumor because it isn't confirmed, that Ant-Man might die. Some people previously said Ant-Man should have died in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, killed by Kang to establish how strong he is. That didn't happen, and I'm not sure killing him there was ever part of Marvel's plans. Now he might still end up biting the dust.

According to a new report by the user Majestic, the Young Avengers would unite in this film. The report says Scott Lang is rumored to die, and following his death the Young Avengers will come together as a team and then appear again in Secret Wars. Marvel has been setting the group up. At the end of The Marvels, Kamala Khan and Kate Bishop mentioned Cassie Lang. In Daredevil: Born Again, it did seem like they were in California recruiting Cassie for the team, with Kamala visiting friends there.

The leaked concept art for Avengers: Secret Wars shows Wong and Star-Lord as leaders, with Wiccan, Speed, Cassie Lang, Kate Bishop and Kamala Khan as the Young Avengers team. There's no Scott Lang in it, which is interesting. Dying in Doomsday wouldn't mean he couldn't return in Secret Wars. It wouldn't be the same variant, or with magic involved in this movie, maybe he could return in some form.

Out of all the characters who could die, I would be pretty bummed if Scott Lang did. I can see it happening, though, and I can see how it would be the thing that brings the Young Avengers together. We're heading into a reset, some of these characters and actors aren't going to survive, and Marvel has already teased deaths in Avengers: Doomsday.

Daniel RPK reports Nicolas Cage could return as Ghost Rider in Secret Wars

The original report was that Ghost Rider would pop in for a cameo in Avengers: Doomsday, with nothing said about who that Ghost Rider might be. We heard it probably wasn't going to be Nicolas Cage, but that was probably just because the original report didn't attach a name. Now Daniel RPK is saying that Nicolas Cage will return as Ghost Rider in Avengers: Secret Wars. So Ghost Rider might appear in Doomsday, and specifically Cage could be Ghost Rider in Secret Wars.

After Deadpool and Wolverine, and after seeing the original Blade return, I think this makes the most sense. We've heard Cage was almost in Deadpool and Wolverine, and that other older characters were almost in Multiverse of Madness. I want him to return at least one more time as Ghost Rider, and with Marvel bringing back the X-Men too, I think it's the perfect opportunity, and a missed opportunity if they don't.

I think Secret Wars is the film where we get many of these cameos. In Doomsday, I think we get the expected ones, like Tobey Maguire returning, plus a few unexpected ones. Then in Secret Wars I think we get something like the big portal scene from Endgame, with variants from all over the multiverse on Battleworld coming together to take on Doom. I get really excited thinking about that scene.

The worlds of Deadpool, Wolverine and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man reportedly collide

The last report was that the worlds of Deadpool, Wolverine and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man collide in Avengers: Doomsday. Take this as a rumor, but it's what many other reports have been building toward. It makes sense that not just one universe would collapse into ours, but several into each other, perhaps the whole multiverse drawing everything to a center point.

In the comics, the center of each universe is Earth. When two universes collide, it's the Earths that collide first, and once one dies, that universe dies too. That's why the only way to save your universe during an incursion is to destroy the other one. I don't know if Doomsday gets into that, but I'm sure it would at least be mentioned.

This next part isn't a report, just my own theory: I would even throw in the 828 universe, where the Fantastic Four were, and maybe the 838 universe, where the Illuminati were. I wouldn't be surprised if all of these universes collide. I think Marvel knows fans want Hugh Jackman's Wolverine with Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man, and I do. I think that would be iconic, especially alongside Robert Downey Jr., whether as an Iron Man variant or with the two of them facing his Doctor Doom, uniting people who started chapters of Marvel throughout history.

I'd also throw in the Fantastic Four and maybe some of the old Punisher actors. Channing Tatum has already said there will be scenes like the Blade, Elektra and Gambit scene from Deadpool and Wolverine times 50. At the time, Doomsday was a year away and Secret Wars two years away, but the news arriving every week made me even more excited. I think there's a great opportunity in these films to do some cool legacy stuff, and I'm stoked for it.
