Report Says Young Avengers Survive Avengers: Doomsday and Search for Wanda
New reports point to two teams who keep their memories on Battleworld in Avengers: Secret Wars, one looking for Wanda and one reportedly looking for Loki.
A team of younger heroes, including Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop and Cassie Lang, reportedly survives the end of Avengers: Doomsday, and according to one insider, their first job in Avengers: Secret Wars is finding Wanda. A second group, which she calls a "we remember" squad, reportedly includes all three Spider-Men, Deadpool and Wolverine.
Some of these new reports line up with older reports we've heard, and the bigger picture is starting to become more clear. This is something we've been hearing about for a while, and I'm glad it's coming full circle with all of the reports that are happening. If you don't want spoilers for Avengers: Doomsday in case this all ends up being accurate, consider this your warning.
Cassie Lang, Kate Bishop and Ms. Marvel Should Be in Doomsday as the Main Young Avengers
We've had many reports about the Young Avengers, and we've already seen two of them. In the trailers for Avengers: Doomsday, we've seen Scott Lang's daughter, Cassie Lang. On the ScreenX teaser, they showed Kate Bishop. I don't want to call her our new Hawkeye, because I do think Clint Barton's Hawkeye is coming back as well, but Kate Bishop is supposed to be there.
All the Young Avengers are basically supposed to be there, or at least the main three: Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop and Cassie Lang. Those three should be there, and they have a pretty important role to play both in Doomsday and in Secret Wars.
Doctor Doom Wins Doomsday and Creates Battleworld
If you've been following along, you probably know this: at the end of Avengers: Doomsday, Doctor Doom wins. It's going to be just like Infinity War, when Thanos won, but this is going to be even worse. Not only does Doom win and everybody dies, but then he creates Battleworld and resurrects people, and on Battleworld, people do not remember the past.
That's a big thing to know, because at the end of Doomsday, some people do survive. Some teams survive, and one of them is the Young Avengers.
Scott Lang Reportedly Turns the Fantastic Four Ship Into a Quantum Realm Escape
What we've heard is that Scott Lang somehow converts the Fantastic Four spaceship into a ship that can go into the Quantum Realm, putting some type of Quantum Realm technology into it using Pym Particles. Basically, he tells his daughter they might not pull this off, and it doesn't look like they are going to. He tells the young heroes not to join the final fight, to stay back, and if it looks like they're going to lose, to go to the Quantum Realm and save themselves.
It looks like that happens. According to MyTimeToShineHello, the Young Avengers do not die in the final incursion. Everybody else does, except for the people I mention in this piece, so if someone isn't mentioned here, they probably die. Of course, new reports and new information could come out, but as of right now, the Young Avengers are the team that doesn't die. I'll throw Billy and Tommy in there as well, Wiccan and Speed, and that's going to be very important for what's about to happen.
The Young Avengers Remember Everything and Go Looking for Wanda
MyTimeToShineHello says they're on Battleworld "still themselves" and their first job is finding Wanda. Still themselves means they remember everything. We've also seen leaked concept art for Avengers: Secret Wars that has the Young Avengers there with Wong, and we've had Star-Lord and Vision in it too.
It's going to be really interesting, especially coming out of VisionQuest, where Billy and Tommy are going to reunite with Vision. I want to see how VisionQuest leads into Doomsday and Secret Wars. So here's the Young Avengers team as it stands: Kamala Khan, Cassie Lang, Kate Bishop, Billy and Tommy. That's basically what we know. Vision, Wong and Star-Lord will be around, and their job is to find Wanda.
Secret Wars Is Reportedly Adapting Secret Wars 2015 and Children's Crusade
We've heard this before. Another insider has said Avengers: Secret Wars is adapting everything from Secret Wars 2015, as well as elements from Children's Crusade (Wanda and the Young Avengers/Champions) and Avengers Forever, with Loki becoming Avenger Prime.
That first part, Secret Wars 2015, is basically what I described above. In the comics, everything gets destroyed. Doom saves about 40 different universes, puts them all together, creates Battleworld and brings people to life. The people there don't know anything about the past and believe Doom is the god who created the world and gave them life, because, well, he kind of did. So he is literally their god.
Nobody remembers anything except for some people in life rafts. There are two of them, one coming from the main universe and one from the Ultimate universe. One has good guys like Reed Richards, Cyclops, Star-Lord and Miles Morales, and the other has the Maker and bad guys, basically. The Quantum Realm is basically going to be our version of the life rafts.
Why I Think Wanda Is the Key to Awakening Everyone
Adapting Children's Crusade and Secret Wars 2015 means the Young Avengers are going to be tasked with going and finding Wanda, because, as I've been predicting for a while, she is probably the key to awakening everybody's memories. It just makes sense given her chaos magic. She is the Scarlet Witch. She put a whole hex on Westview and controlled people, so it makes sense that she would be able to awaken people.
Plus, she did read the Darkhold. I'm not saying she's going to use dark or forbidden magic again, but she knows a lot now, and she might learn a thing or two from Doctor Doom, because he's an incredibly powerful sorcerer. So she is most likely being held prisoner. MyTimeToShineHello did tweet something very interesting: "Wanda isn't missing." Some people are confused by that, given she also said the Young Avengers' first job is finding Wanda.
I believe that is true. Wanda's not technically missing, because they know where she is: she's with Doctor Doom. That's part of the Children's Crusade storyline. Doom has Wanda, she doesn't remember anything from the past, and she appears at Doom's castle, where they're about to get married. Even once Billy shows up and helps awaken her memories, she still wants to go through with marrying Doom. When the X-Men and Avengers show up, she sends them back, saying she and Doom are good. But ultimately, long story short, he ends up choosing power over her.
So that's essentially what I think is going to happen. Wanda is being held in Doctor Doom's castle, and the Young Avengers are going to go, and maybe they have to help awaken her memories first. Since Billy and Tommy, her kids, are there, I can't think of a better way to do that. Billy is Wiccan and has chaos magic as well, so I think that's an easy way to do it. From there, they go and awaken everybody else.
Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland Reportedly Join the "We Remember" Squad
There's another team that I think people are going to be really excited about, and they're also going to play a big role. MyTimeToShineHello lists them as another team, or at least the "we remember" squad: Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland, so the three Spider-Men back together again. I've been saying it would just be crazy if they did not put them back together.
Deadpool and Wolverine are in it too. I think that makes a lot of sense, and I think Deadpool and Wolverine will be with Tobey, which means they should be with Andrew and Tom Holland as well. Reed, Vision and She-Hulk round it out. She-Hulk is a very interesting one. We've seen leaked concept art of She-Hulk in a Hulk world, which we think is probably Greenland from the comics.
Vision makes a lot of sense, because we've been talking about how, as a synthezoid, maybe he wouldn't be affected by whatever Doctor Doom does and could remember everything and access the memories from before. Reed, according to a previous report, is going to be on the Fantastic Four ship that goes into the Quantum Realm, while the Young Avengers are probably off doing their own thing. So these are the people who should be remembering what happened before.
Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man and Wolverine Are Reportedly Looking for Loki
Going back to that insider report about Loki becoming Avenger Prime, we've heard that Tobey and Wolverine's mission in Avengers: Secret Wars is going to be to look for Loki. So it might make sense that this team is going to go look for Loki. I'm sure some will go off and do something else. Maybe She-Hulk tries to find Bruce Banner. Maybe Reed tries to find Sue, because the leaked concept art shows Sue by Doctor Doom's side with Franklin.
I'm sure they'll have different jobs, but I think Tobey, Andrew, Tom Holland, Deadpool and Wolverine go look for Loki. Because we got a plot leak a while ago, maybe we even get a Tony Stark variant thrown in there, which I do think they should do at some point. I think it would be pretty cool. I cannot wait to see Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland together with Deadpool and Wolverine.
Combined with the Young Avengers, that gives us teams who remember and are going on very specific missions: one to get Wanda and one to get Loki. They're two incredibly powerful people who I think have the ability to start to awaken people and maybe ultimately go fight against Doctor Doom. That sounds really good to me, because I think that's how they're adapting the 2015 Secret Wars into the MCU, not page for page, but taking the ideas and changing them just a little bit. I like it, and I think it sounds good.
Which of these two Battleworld missions would you most want to see on screen?
