Avengers Doomsday Leak Points to an Emotional Ant-Man Sacrifice as Pre-Sales Hit $40 Million

A new report about Reed Richards' escape ship suggests Scott Lang may not survive the final battle against Doctor Doom.

Avengers Doomsday has earned 40 million dollars in domestic pre-sales 100 days before its release, making it the first film to ever reach that milestone. A lot of people are now thinking this film could be the biggest movie of all time and could be the first movie to hit three billion dollars worldwide. I think it is on track for that. I do.

On top of that, a new test screening reportedly just happened, and there is a new report from somebody who saw it saying it is the best movie they have ever seen. That is a great thing to hear as this is looking to be the biggest movie the world has ever seen. The hype is indeed there.

Reshoots reportedly confirm Spider-Man, Hulk, Captain Marvel and Elizabeth Olsen for Avengers Doomsday

This is spoiler territory for Avengers Doomsday and Secret Wars, so consider this a warning before going further. As covered previously, the Avengers Doomsday reshoots have happened, and some characters are reportedly confirmed to be in the movie now according to insiders. Take that with a grain of salt, since it is not official from Marvel, but reportedly these reshoots have locked in Tom Holland's Spider-Man, Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, Brie Larson's Captain Marvel, and Elizabeth Olsen.

The role for Olsen is the interesting part. We had previously heard she would appear as Scarlet Witch as one of Doom's witch followers, and that still might be the case, but a recent report states she is instead going to have her own team in a post credits scene for Avengers Doomsday.

A new leak claims Reed Richards' ship survives thanks to Ant-Man

The new report is about what really seems like a heartbreaking scene, one that makes perfect sense and lines up with previous leaks. This comes from a leak account, so again, take it with a grain of salt. It states that Reed Richards' ship survived thanks to Ant-Man, and this all happens at the end of Doomsday once the incursions hit and the entire multiverse gets destroyed.

Doom then recreates a universe however he chooses, becoming ruler over what he calls Battle World, God Emperor Doom in the comics. That lines up with the leaked images for Secret Wars showing him on a throne with Sue Storm as his wife, Franklin Richards as a son, and Doctor Strange on the other side. Reportedly everybody dies except Doom and his followers when the multiverse is destroyed, and he then brings them back when he creates Battle World.

According to the leak, Reed Richards' ship survives because Ant-Man adapts its systems to travel to the quantum realm in case of failure, with a farewell message from Scott to Cassie appearing on screen and some of the group managing to survive. We have actually heard hints of this for a while, things certain actors have said that made me think Ant-Man might die. What seems to be happening is that Ant-Man goes into the final fight against Doom and tells Cassie and some of the young Avengers they are not going into the fight, that they need to escape to the quantum realm and save as many people as they can.

These adapted ships work a lot like the life rafts from the comics, vessels that go outside of space and time to survive Secret Wars. That trailer moment of Ant-Man embracing Cassie looks like it is this farewell before the final fight, where the Avengers, X-Men and Fantastic Four go in knowing they probably cannot win, since Doom solos Thor with ease and raises the Sentinels. I really like this twist. Unfortunately, I think it does mean Ant-Man dies, but I also think a lot of people die in this anyway, so it is what it is.

Who is reportedly on the life raft ship escaping into the quantum realm

Again, take this with a grain of salt since it is not a confirmed leak, though everything else discussed here lines up with what has been heard for Doomsday. According to the same leak account, the Young Avengers are on the ship, which makes sense given Ant-Man is telling them to get away, but they would also need more experienced people guiding them.

The list reportedly also includes Jean Grey, though it is unclear which version, with a guess toward Sadie Sink's Jean Grey since neither Storm nor Jean Grey were announced elsewhere. Also listed are Nightcrawler, Cyclops, Beast, Magneto, and Storm, though I am cautious there since it could be Halle Berry returning or possibly one of the newer X-Men. Sam Wilson and Star-Lord are also named, with Star-Lord already expected in the film given leaked Secret Wars concept art.

Tom Holland's Spider-Man and Captain Marvel round out that group, along with Reed Richards, who makes sense as the character who designs the ships in the comics, both his standard version and the evil Maker variant across different universes. Wolverine and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man are also reportedly aboard, tying into their rumored opening scene where they appear to die but likely do not. Vision is also on the list, which fits with Vision Quest reportedly leading into Doomsday and Secret Wars, alongside leaked concept art showing Vision and Star-Lord sitting casually on a couch, Star-Lord drinking beer, suggesting they arrive on Battle World only to find nobody remembers what happened and have to slowly work to wake people up.

That detail connects to the post credits scenes as well. Wanda is reportedly in one of the post credit scenes with a team of her own, and this may be where she starts recruiting people on Battle World. Wolverine and Spider-Man are also reportedly in a post credits scene going on a mission to find Loki. Kevin Feige has reportedly said the plan is essentially Hickman's Secret Wars with their own twist, which lines up with all of this.

Fans react to the possible Ant-Man sacrifice

Reaction from the Discord to these reports was mixed but mostly positive. One comment read, "sounds like Ant-Man is sacrificing himself for the team," while another simply said, "Rip Scott." I would like to think Ant-Man is one of the characters who survives, but we will have to wait and see, especially since it sounds like most incursion victims eventually get resurrected once Doom builds Battle World.

One fan suggested this "opens the door for a new Hank Pym in the reboot," which I think is a good spin on an Ant-Man death. Another theorized that Scott might mention Kang in the film, possibly feeling guilt that this could be his fault, which I thought was an excellent idea. A different comment pointed to leaked concept art of Wong, Vision, Star-Lord and the Champions in a bar that could be set inside the quantum realm, tying back to locations seen in Quantum Mania.

One longer comment described the film as becoming harder to process given everything shown so far, including New York being vaporized, and wondered how devastating the full story will actually be. I like that take, and I think it is certainly the case. I have heard from sources I trust that Marvel made some significant changes a while back that could make Doomsday even better than what has leaked so far, though we will have to wait and see exactly what those are. There is no doubt in my mind that this movie is in the running to be the biggest movie of all time, and possibly the best to Marvel fans, even if not to everyone.

Do you think Ant-Man is actually going to die in Avengers Doomsday, or does he make it out through the quantum realm?
