Resident Evil Requiem DLC Reportedly Ties Into Code: Veronica and Resident Evil 0 Through a Villain Named Zeno

A new Requiem title update, fresh leaks, and a report from Dusk Golem all point toward how Capcom's next Resident Evil DLC could connect three different projects.

A New Title Update Confirms Capcom Is Still Actively Supporting Requiem

Capcom pushed out the 1.3.1 title update for Resident Evil Requiem across PlayStation, PC, Xbox, and Switch, and it turned out to be a fairly small patch built almost entirely around the Leon Must Die Forever mini-game that was added a couple of months earlier. The update reduced the difficulty of Forever rank one and Forever rank two, the two ranks that people were "absolutely losing their minds over," which should be welcome news for anyone still grinding toward that boss.

The patch also tuned a handful of enhancer skills to open up more build variety. The explosive specialist skill now has a much higher chance to not consume hand grenades, the throwing plus skill got a bump to attack power on grenades and other throwables, and the strategist skill had its duration extended along with a better power boost.

Another notable piece buried inside this update is that one of the infinite ammo glitches is dead. I believe it is the second one, though I could not remember for certain, and I think the first one was handled with the photo mode update released earlier in the year. Capcom did not call the fix out directly, simply filing it under "fixed some minor issues" and moving on, meaning anyone still using that exploit to cheese Leon Must Die Forever has to actually get good now.

Even though this was not a hugely significant patch, it shows Capcom has not walked away from Requiem months after launch. Between photo mode, the entire Leon Must Die Forever side mode, and now a balance pass, this is clearly a company still supporting the game, which lines up with director Koshi Nakanishi's on record comment that paid story DLCs were already in development to delve deeper into the world of Requiem.

When Could the Requiem DLC Reveal Have Happened

With Resident Evil Veronica already revealed, the Requiem DLC became the next big domino left to show off for Resident Evil. I did not expect anything Resident Evil related to show up at the Capcom Spotlight, since that showcase was built around Dragon's Dogma 2, Dark Arisen, Monster Hunter Stories 3, and Onimusha: Warlords across a 30 minute deep dive into those three games rather than a surprise drop event. A bait and switch was possible, but not something I was banking on.

Resident Evil Veronica had already gotten its official announcement during Summer Game Fest, targeting a 2027 release, with Resident Evil 0 reportedly lined up right behind it for 2028. That left the Requiem DLC as the next major Resident Evil reveal on the table.

I said I would go with Gamescom that year for the reveal, since Opening Night Live fell in late August and is exactly the type of stage Capcom likes to use. Previous rumors had suggested Veronica might get more coverage at Gamescom too, and I floated the idea that Opening Night Live could deliver both a Requiem DLC reveal and further Veronica coverage, with Tokyo Game Show in September serving as a possible follow up spot for a gameplay teaser on either project.

Leaks Point to Leon, Alyssa Ashcroft, Chris Redfield, and Possibly Ada Wong

Previous leaks have stated the DLC will focus on Leon and Alyssa Ashcroft, reportedly from a Chinese leaker with a fairly solid track record. Another leak has supposedly paired Chris Redfield with Ada Wong in the DLC, which I think has a solid chance of happening since it makes sense, and it would be a pretty huge deal given that neither character showed up in the base game in any real way beyond references to Chris.

I would personally find it pretty interesting if Claire Redfield showed up in the Requiem DLC in some form, giving a look at what she is up to in the current Requiem canon, especially since Resident Evil Veronica was set to arrive the following year. That could set up a present day story for Claire alongside a past told through Veronica.

The more I think about a possible Resident Evil 10, the more I wonder whether Claire could end up as its main protagonist, with Veronica providing further backstory for her character, the DLC covering what she is doing in the present, and Resident Evil 10 eventually delivering a full experience built around her. That is speculation on my part, but I am genuinely excited to see what happens with the Resident Evil canon once the Requiem DLC arrives.

A Report Ties Code: Veronica and Resident Evil 0 Back Into Requiem Through Zeno and Wesker

According to a report from Dusk Golem, Code: Veronica and Resident Evil 0 are set to tie directly into Requiem. Dusk Golem said the connection has more to do with those projects being in development at the same time than any grand master plan, but was clear that Requiem specifically sets up Veronica and 0 to tie back to itself. That lines up with what Code: Veronica producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi has said about a new through line inside the Veronica remake leading directly into Requiem.

The mystery at the center of it all is Zeno. For anyone who has not finished Requiem, Zeno is a villain connected to the organization known as the Connections, and the game leaves that storyline wide open on purpose. Albert Wesker appears in both Resident Evil 0 and Code: Veronica, making him the narrative bridge that weaves the three projects together, with Zeno and the Connections tying back to him.

That kind of long term mapping across three different projects all pointing at each other is exactly what I was hoping for, and it is genuinely exciting to hear about.

What I Want From the DLC, and When It Could Actually Release

More than anything, I want a teaser for what Chris is up to, even if he is not playable, even if it is just a file, a phone call, or one shot of him in the dark setting up the next game. After the Veronica reveal showed Claire literally out searching for Chris, a Requiem DLC touching on his current situation would be great. I also want backstory for Zeno rather than just another dangled carrot; I want to walk away understanding who the character is, what their goal is, and how they connect the older games to this new era.

According to multiple reports, the Requiem DLC is releasing after the Veronica remake. Since Veronica is a 2027 game, that would mean the DLC realistically is not a 2026 release, putting it more likely in 2027, though it depends heavily on when the reveal actually happened. If we got it during Gamescom, 2026 would be in the cards, but if the reveal did not come until The Game Awards, then 2027 makes the most sense. I would love to be wrong and see it sooner, but that seemed unlikely.

Do you think the Requiem DLC reveal happened at Gamescom, or is it still waiting on The Game Awards or later?
