Colton Ogburn: New Avengers Doomsday Leak Confirms My Theory That There Are Two Wandas

A reported post-credit scene of Wanda Maximoff forming a team fits a theory I have been building for months about where she has been hiding and who she really is fighting for.

Wanda Maximoff is rumored to be putting together a team in the post-credit scene of Avengers Doomsday. I am going to tell you who I think this team will consist of, why I think Wanda is forming it, how it connects to Vision Quest, and why I believe there are not one but two Wandas across Doomsday and Secret Wars.

The latest wave of Doomsday leaks and rumors includes reports that Elizabeth Olsen has been on set filming scenes for a Doomsday post-credit scene and doing some work for Avengers Secret Wars. There are also reports that the scene features Wanda putting together a team. When I heard that, it clicked into place with a theory I had been kicking around for months, and this report finally gave that theory its missing piece.

My original theory: Wanda pruned herself into the void after Multiverse of Madness

I have had two separate theories about Wanda's role in these Avengers movies. The first is that Wanda is not dead and is currently living in the void at the end of time. At the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we saw Wanda collapse Mount Wundagore with herself inside, and in-universe she is assumed dead. I think there is no way she is actually dead. My belief is that she pruned herself from existence, because when Mount Wundagore collapses you can see a red flash that makes me think Wanda used her reality manipulation powers to prune herself in that moment, deeming herself a threat to the entire multiverse.

So where do you go when you are pruned from existence? The void. And in Deadpool and Wolverine we saw the same Scarlet Witch relief in the void that we saw at Mount Wundagore when Wanda pruned herself. I bring all this up to say that I think Wanda is in the void right now through the events of Doomsday, living essentially as a recluse and a hermit, isolated from everything.

By the end of Doomsday, when the multiverse collapses and Doom builds his new kingdom, known in the comics as Battleworld, I think that kingdom will be built within the void, because once the entire multiverse ceases to exist, all that remains is the void. Cassandra Nova said as much herself: "I'm going to destroy this universe and the next and the next and the next until all that's left is the [void] and I get to play God."

Why the Wolverine and Spider-Man post-credit rumor points to the same void

Reports of the opening scene of Avengers Doomsday have been around for a while now, describing an incursion between the Fox X-Men universe, the Deadpool universe, and the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man universe. In that scene, the X-Men, primarily Magneto, Deadpool, and Wolverine, are said to be on Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man's Earth planting a bomb to destroy that world and spare their own. Wolverine and Spider-Man fight, the bomb gets planted, Magneto and Deadpool get back to their own universe, and Wolverine does not make it back and is left there with Spider-Man as the universe collapses.

Some people have taken that to mean Wolverine and Spider-Man die at the start of Doomsday. My reaction to that is simple: "Yeah, right. Okay. No." I have long assumed instead that Wolverine and Spider-Man land in the void as a result of that universe collapsing, and that theory became even more likely when it was recently reported that there is a Doomsday post-credit scene featuring Tobey and Hugh revealing they survived the incursion.

It has also been reported that Tobey's Spider-Man and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine will be immune to the memory wipe that happens when Doom creates his new kingdom, similar to how in the 2015 Secret Wars comics very few heroes remember the multiverse that existed before Battleworld, knowing only their life under God Emperor Doom. I think Spider-Man and Wolverine would be immune to that wipe because they are outside the walls of Doom's kingdom, out in the void, which is exactly where I think Wanda already is.

The team I think Wanda is forming, and why it connects to Vision Quest

I think the team we could see Wanda forming is a team of resistance fighters to join her in taking on Doom. What if Wanda has been living in the void for years and now sees this new kingdom appear? I think we could see her found by her sons Billy and Tommy along with the accompanying young Avengers, who I think escaped into the quantum realm with Cassie Lang before the multiverse collapsed and landed in the void as well.

My theory is that they are on a quest to find Wanda and inspire her to put together a team, take the fight to Doom, and save Vision, who I think is likely inside Doom's Battleworld or kingdom, based on leaked concept art images that have suggested as much.

Why I believe there are two Wandas: one in the void, one serving as Doom's witch

If Wanda is not on Team Doom and is instead out in the void putting together a team to fight Doom and break the spell he has on the kingdom, then who is casting the hex around the kingdom that makes everyone believe they have always lived in this utopian society under Doom? That question is what makes sense of the rumors that Elizabeth Olsen is playing one of Doom's witches.

I think that role can be chalked up to the Wanda from universe 838, whose universe is likely dead and whose children are now likely dead, a Wanda who was taken over by her multiversal self and made to kill her friends in Multiverse of Madness. That Wanda, I think, would have every reason to be Team Doom when he comes to her and offers a way out, a way to get her kids back, a way to get her life back after her universe was destroyed, and a way to get revenge on universe 616 for destroying her reality.

How an incursion between 838 and 616, and Doom's possible master plan, set up Wanda versus Wanda

I think that incursion between 838 and 616 likely took place, as Clea suggested in the post-credit scene of Multiverse of Madness: "You caused an incursion and we're going to fix it." That could set the stage for a Wanda versus Wanda confrontation in Secret Wars.

In the end, I think we could learn that the reason 838 was destroyed in the incursion while 616 was not is because Doctor Doom is the one who destroyed 838, because for some reason, as part of his master plan, he needed to preserve universe 616. Perhaps the sacred timeline was such a crucial piece anchoring the entire multiverse that he needed it intact before completing his plan. Whatever that plan actually is in Doomsday, I do not know.

Is Wanda forming a team on behalf of Doom? Is she a Doom witch bringing together other Doom loyalists? Or is she the Wanda who exiled herself to the void after Multiverse of Madness, now assembling Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man, and other void-bound characters into a resistance team that can infiltrate Doom's hex, restore people's memories, and take him down?

What do you think Wanda is really doing when she puts that team together?
